Stopped in to get a few supplies for Wednesday my cat, it's Sunday and it looks like they may have had a busy day, the store displays were in a little disarray. I didn't really find a good selection of the items I was looking for so I didn't make a purchase nor did I have any interaction with the staff. Well being a new cat owner and the fact I haven't spent much time in a pet store I got the impression that it really is a "dog's world" it appears about 80% of the entire inventory is devote to what's been described as "man's best friend" and the remaining 20% is for all the rest of the animals. We just moved here from Texas so i was looking for a new place to get my dog groomed. Took a chance and went to Petco grooming in Port orange. Cait was my dogs groomer and she did a fantastic job!!! She asked me questions about how I wanted his hair cut etc and was very fast. My dogs haircut was so cute and she had no problem cutting his nails. Looks like I found my new groomer!! My dog had a basic bath today. And it ended up costing me $43, which was not discussed up front. Nothing extra was done, she is ten pounds with 1/2 inch hair all over. They turned the agreement over for me to sign consent for the bath but didn't discuss any upgrades in price. They said she is considered long hair thus the increase...a full groom with haircut is only a few dollars more. Even the manager would not honor the original price. I mean I can understand if they are doing that to save the consumer money (like save a lot or aldi) but to over charge on pet food, supplies AND now charge for bags too? Come on man. I can't say enough good things about Aimee in the grooming salon. She always remembers who my little one is, and always treats her like she's her own dog. I have a little crybaby chihuahua and Aimee always does an amazing job on her nails, teeth, and hair! This is the only place i take my pup, well worth the drive from New Smyrna! read more

SKIP THIS PETCO FOR NAIL GROOMING. So we thought we would try this location again after 2 years. It just as bad as last time! I took my dog here today to get his nails clipped but it was pretty bad. Both groomers seem like disgruntled beauty school dropouts who just don't care for animals at all. We wanted our dogs nails clipped and they told us that if we didn't pay more for the nails + grind, our dog would still have long, sharp nails. So we paid the extra amount and his nails and they still came out like nothing had been done at all. After the cut, the groomer said "well I did as much as he would let me." Really? My dog is super friendly and a little skittish so why didn't they have the other groomer come help hold him. What a waste of $20 plus tip. I'll make sure I do my dogs nails before ever coming back to this location for grooming again. read more

I have always used regular vets and never been totally happy but I was amazed - first I turned up late due to issues getting the cat in the carrier - then she threw up everywhere (promptly and happily cleaned up), she had a full wellness check, nails clipped etc and total cost was less than $70 - Everyone there was so polite, caring and nice I can't imagine taking her anywhere else! This is a very nice clean store. My wife brings her very small dog here and they either do a lot of small dogs or have small dog day because they never have her with large dogs at the same time. The rest of the store if very nice and easy to find items for the rest of our menagerie. Staff is helpful and they have shot clinics that we have used in a pinch as well. read more

Aimee did a great job grooming my miniature schnauzer! She achieved exactly what I was looking for in a short amount of time

I was really excited to take my dog to get groomed for the first time but ever since I got home she has been really upset and acting as though she has been abused. I don't know what happened in there but from what I have seen from the other reviews it doesn't look like I'll be back. I really hope my dog goes back to her normal happy self soon because I just can't stand to see her like this. :( it breaks my heart. read more

This a very nice, clean, and newer store. The staff is always very nice and friendly. I'm always greeted with a friendly hello and smile. They always ask if I need help and are not overbearing about it. They do a lot of pet adoptions on the weekends. It's great to see them working to find homes for pets. Their prices are a little on the high end so I usually watch for sales but they're not overly expensive. read more

Great store, well organized and RARELY EVER BUSY! We have Cats, FISH and Flying Squirrels and they have food and supplies for ALL 3! We even found really unique fish like the upside down catfish (they only grow-to about 3 inches for the record) and we named him "Flip"--they are rarely rightside-up when swimming around! But he is such a unique addition to our fish tank and this is where we got him! He's also been around for at least 2 years now! They have everything you could possibly need. Freeze dried crickets for sugar gliders? They got 'em! Dried Mango Chunks? Check Treats designed to keep your cat from throwing up hair-balls? I have two dogs and bring them both to Petco in Port Orange for their grooming. Because they are poodle mixes, they can be difficult to groom and look the way I want. The groomers here have been amazing at keeping my pups looking their best and making sure my requests are met. If you have a Goldendoodle/Labradoodle you MUST see Birge. She is the most amazing groomer I've been to with mine and gets it right every time (most groomers cut them like poodles and they just don't look right that way). My doodle loves Birge and actually jumps up to hug her when we walk through the door. For my other pup (who recently had dental surgery), Ellyn was our most recent groomer and I had specific concerns regarding his grooming because of his surgery. She met every request I had and my little pup came out looking stellar! I highly recommend the groomers at Petco in Port Orange and refer everyone I can to them! read more

Very disappointed in the grooming department. They constantly changed dates and times of appointments. They automatically schedule appointments without asking your schedule. I was informed that dogs needed to have their rabies shot, but they if were too old or had a health condition that prevented them from getting the vaccination they just needed a letter from the vet stating that. I have been taking my three legged elderly dog. When I brought a dog that is vaccinated, is able to walk normally and has a great temperament, I was told he was unable to be groomed because he has kidney disease. A very common issue in elderly dogs. lf he is healthy enough to be vaccinated, he is healthy enough to be groomed. of course there are some dogs that the grooming process would be too stressful for them, but that wasn't the case with this dog. I strongly suggest going to another grooming facility. read more

Was not impressed with this store at all. I think this store is overrated to say the least. When I asked the cashier a question she looked at me like I was crazy. She eventually just pointed to an isle infront of her and said maybe over there as I was looking for something, than started laughing with another cashier as I walked away. I'm not sure what could be so amusing about looking for a salt block for my bunny but apparently it was funny. I have zero interest in returning. read more

We popped into this location because we left our dog's food at home. We were happy to find they carried her brand and had plenty in stock. The store appeared clean, well organized and fully stocked. Every single employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. It is refreshing to shop somewhere the employees treat you like the are genuinely happy you are shopping instead of appearing to be annoyed you disturbed them. read more

I brought my German Shepherd in for grooming, teeth cleaning and nail buffing and when I picked my dog up, nails were not buffed which they took care of while I waited and they stated they confused her with the other German Shepherd but everything else was "the same service" However ears were still dirty, teeth didn't seem had been cleaned nor she seemed to be properly brushed. I went home had to properly clean her ears and when I used the undercoat brush I was very upset of the amount of fur still coming out. Definitely not returning $60 and terrible job. read more

My husband and daughter went into the store yesterday to purchase a new fish tank for my daughter. The staff at this location went over an beyond, especially a young woman working in the fish area. She accompanied my husband and daughter for their whole visit (30-45minutes) and helped them pick out proper equipment and gave them tricks and tips. My daughter is 6 years old and can be really indecisive, but she stayed with them every step of the way. We will be shopping strictly with Petco from now on for our fish and our cat. read more

This was our first experience getting our little "SHADOW" groomed. Aimee took the time to explain the entire procedure and asked for input and if I had any questions. When everything was over I was pleased that Aimee escorted Shadow out and again asked if there were any questions after explained how he tolerated the entire grooming process. Shadow looked great. I am a new pup owner. I bought a product at a midwest US outlet of Petco that was a very "meh" experience. Came to this store in Port Orange to resolve an issue that developed with the product, and I was really impressed! First, with the customer service, which offered a creative solution to the product issue, but also the knowledge and assistance they provided to assist me with my other pup issues. They informed me of product options AND also solutions which did not necessarily include purchases! Made me really confident that they were interested in developing a customer relationship.
