Finding a Groomer that could work with our male Keeshond has been difficult to say the least. We found one, Chris, at the store in Memphis but he transferred to Oxford...lucky Oxford...and since then it's been aweful. One groomer cut Dakota's dew claw off at the knuckle and he was in pain for weeks after so he DID NOT want to be brushed, bathed or anything but snuggled for months. Finally our beautiful big man was turning into one big raggedy looking Kees. We were doing the best we could to bathe and brush him but it's just not the same as a good 5 hours at a professional groomers. Then we found Petco, the new one that opened in Olive Branch just recently, and I haven't seen him look this wonderful in a very long time. Not only did they do a beautiful job on him and my other Kees, Tolly, but Dakota came back in high spirits, and not cowering and shivering like the last groomer. After bathing and drying the groomer took extra care brushing out all the undercoat until their coats were gleaming and soft...anyone who has a dog with two coats dreads this time of the year when they begin to molt, underfur drifts around the house like warm fuzzy snowballs and you'll just finish vacuuming to find little keesie tumbleweeds following you...and I swear they're laughing...I sincerely hope they don't change staff because as of this experience we will continue to happily bring our two beautiful Kees to Petco in Olive Branch for grooming! read more

had a grooming appointment scheduled for 12:15, and since this was my dog's first experience with a groomer, I was already nervous about leaving her. I stayed in the parking lot because I wanted to be nearby in case she needed me. After about an hour and a half, I noticed that my dog still hadn't been started on, so I went inside to check. The employee I had handed my dog to told me that the groomer assigned to her was "running late." At that point, she was almost two hours late for my dog's scheduled appointment. I asked when she thought my dog would be finished, and I was told around 2:30-3:00. I went into the store several times because I was concerned about my dog being in a kennel for that long. Around 2:30, they were finally working on her. The groomer told me she was going to trim and buff my dog's nails and then she would be finished. When I went to the front to pay, I asked the employee why my dog had waited so long despite having an appointment. At first, the employee at the front desk seemed to imply that I was the one who had been late, but then realized that I had, in fact, arrived on time for my appointment. She said she would let the manager know about what had happened. Once I got back to my car, I noticed that my dog's nails had not been buffed. They had only been cut, and they were left very rough and ragged. I called the store but couldn't get an answer at first. When I called again, the groomer answered. I asked whether the nail buffing was supposed to be included, since she had specifically told me she was going to do it. She seemed to realize that it had not been done. I then asked why it had taken almost two hours for her to get to my dog. She explained that she doesn't even arrive until 1:00 because she is still in school. I completely understand that her school schedule is not her fault, and she was very sweet. However, I don't understand why an appointment would be scheduled under a groomer who isn't even at the store until almost an hour after the appointment time. If I had known my dog would be waiting that long, I would not have booked the appointment. I was especially uncomfortable with her being kenneled for such an extended period of time. There were also services I selected when booking online that were either not completed or that I'm unsure were completed. The website stated that first-time customers would receive a discount, but I did not receive one. I also specifically wanted the ear cleaning, and I don't believe that was done either. On top of that, the nail buffing that I was told would be done was not completed. My biggest concern isn't even the groomer herself. She was very kind, and I understand that she is still in school. My concern is that I had a scheduled appointment, but the groomer assigned to my dog wasn't there at the scheduled time, my dog waited nearly two hours before being worked on, and the services I paid for were not fully completed. (Her nails and she was still wet) This was my dog's and my first experience with a professional groomer, and unfortunately, it was not a good one. I understand that things happen and that delays can occur, but I expected much better communication and for the services I booked to actually be completed. read more

Brought my dog specifically for a nail trim which is included in all baths so I figured I'd just get her bathed as well. Dropped her off at 8am and recieved a notification at 10:15 on their website that said service was complete. Walked in and they said she was still drying so I told them if she was a little damp that was fine and I would take her if everything else was done. Got home and realized they didn't even touch her nails which was my main reason for taking her, I can give her a bath at home and not pay $60. Very disappointing and won't go back. read more

This Petco is alright with me! I've shopped there for fish and aquarium accessories and they always have a good selection. I've purchased in store and online and never had a problem with either option. They have a nice staff and are pet knowledgeable on the animals that they have. Waiting for assistance can be slow sometimes but that's due to short staffing rather than staff not wanting to assist. The fish area can be a little messy at times, but nothing crazy. They usually have good deals/sales at this location as well, so I'm a fan. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I brought in my 1 year old dog for a bath and grooming appointment (the stylist was Brittany R) and two days later I noticed his right eye was bloodshot. I immediately took him to the vet and the first thing they asked me was if he had gone to a groomer recently. The majority of the staff is very knowledgeable about all animals and are willing to help in anyway that they can. They treat all of my dogs as they would their own! This petco feels like the only location that really truly cares for their animals and their well-being! I also want to give a shout-out to both Beth and Cindy! I shop at this store frequently but no more I will take my business down the street at Tractor Supply I will switch my dog and puppy to a food they carry . I went in your store to pick up what they normally eat Royal Canine when I grab the bag of food the label said 55.99 one bag in spot got to register she said 78.99 so I went back down aisle again only to see another bag 30 pound for 78.99 when in fact it was in the 17pound place after studying the small print. This is not the first time everytine I shop this location something g is wrong with prices labeling and bags tired of dealing with the rude customer service honor the labels she said customers put bags in the wrong place I don't think so they are not going to come in and pick up heavy bags to move them when this is constantly an issue in this rude store. read more

My husband and I walked in to bring our dog to get a bath and haircut. First time at this location and absolute last time there. We brought in our shot records to be updated, specifically my dog's rabies vaccine. My husband and I just moved from a different state so the shot records had all of my dogs medical records from the time she was 2 months old so there were several sheets stapled together. She is 3 years and 10 months old now. I let the woman at the counter with the short hair and glasses know that all of my dog's most recent vaccines were on the very first page. I was ignored. She began to flip through the pages. I asked her was everything alright. No response and ignored again. I reiterated that all of her recent shots are on the first page. Everything on each sheet contained a month,date, and year. No response or acknowledgment. She then proceeds to walk off to go get her coworker who then comes out and starts looking through the paperwork. I then ask the coworker is everything alright. She responds yeah, she was just having trouble finding the rabies vaccine. I state I can point it out for you and proceed to point out the rabies vaccine. She begins to flip through the pages and I ask her is there something else she is looking for? She then asked what vet is this, this paper just looks different? I let her know that it is from El Paso Animal Clinic in Kansas-it states this at the bottom of every sheet and at the top of the page. She asks how old my dog is which was an irrelevant question but I tell her. She then looks at a page with older dates where my dog was seen for limping-she was faking, and proceeds to ask me is her leg okay. Again none of her or anyone else's business considering it wasn't anywhere near recent and my dog's leg was fine. Finally we get to where we talk about the cut I wanted for my dog and even then I felt like I was being questioned as if I don't know how I like my dog's hair cut. The whole check in process took about 15 minutes which was way too long over foolishness and the groomer at the desk was just plain rude and lacked social skills. We were the only ones in line at that. I've been going to Petco for years now for both of my dogs and never have I had an experience like this. Even when picking up my dog my husband and I walked in and the same lady was behind the desk almost hidden and she didn't say a word when we walked in. She just had several papers out on the desk and we had to look to find our dogs name. What if we had never been to Petco and did not know what to do with the paper? My dogs haircut was okay. Unfortunately, there were spots on the back of her leg and the left side of her face that had been missed and were longer than the rest of her hair. For the price I paid it wasn't up to standard. I don't recommend coming to this location for grooming and please know that reading truly is fundamental. Please talk to the associate about her customer service skills and address it because a little communication could have saved her all the extra time flipping through pages and me from being interrogated be her coworker for absolutely no reason. This is about my overall experience, not just the grooming. If you thought Southaven Petco was bad then just run away from this store. This has to be the most unprofessional team of staff I've seen at any Petco store. Staff either has little knowledge of animal care or they just don't care. Manager seemed less knowledgeable than the cashier which is not good when animals lives are in danger. I'll be shopping at Hollywood Feed and however many other stores I have to go to avoid Petco from now on. I was really alarmed when I found out the sick animals are kept in the back because the ones in the cages look terrible. I wonder how most Petco stores even keep their doors open. Very sad! I've taken my dog to the Southaven store for several years. Each time a different groomer. This time when I was called to pick him up they said I could not bring him back there anymore because he bit her several times. The groomer was Sydni A Don't get her!! I told her that was highly unusual that in the past I've been told what a good boy he was and was so sweet I ask her what she did to provoke him to do this. The only answer I got was we can't have biting dogs. DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG THERE TO BE GROOMED. Now I'm afraid he will be afraid when I take him somewhere else. I wouldn't take him back there anyway. Very unprofessional trainer. The first time I was disappointed I did not leave any reviews. The second time we were disappointed by the Petco Olive Branch trainer I was very angry at wasting my time and my money. In August I signed up and paid for a training class that was supposed to begin on September 25. When I came for the first class they did not know what I was talking about and had changed the training classes on the calendar without notifying me. I have made 3 grooming appointments here any every single one had to be rescheduled due to the grooming department. 1. my appointment was scheduled on groomers day off. (not sure why they do that) 2. groomer called in sick. 3. groomer dog sick. I understand things happen but everytime I schedule. I contacted corporate and they said a store manager would call me in 24 hours. 2 days later a woman called and said we are sorry and we will give you a $5 off coupon. kinda insulting when all I want is to make an appointment and have my dog groomed. I brought her in today for the most recent rescheduling. They told me groomer called in and they will try and get to my dog but no promises. So you want me to have her sit in your cage for a few hours and she may or may not be groomed. I have decided to throw in the towel at Petco.
