Never, ever, EVER again. My 4 Yorkies normally go a private groomer but she recently had surgery so I've been taking them to Petsmart. They had an appointment today but they were short a groomer and asked if I could reschedule so I called to see if Petco could fit them in. They said yes and I took them in at 1:15. When I take them into PetSmart they typically get all 4 in and out in 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours. I didn't walk out of Petco with my Yorkies until 6:22. Over 5 hours. To make things a million times worse, the manager was RUDE and when I finally got them and they handed me my bill, I almost PASSED OUT. For 4 full grooms at PetSmart they charge me around $240.00 depending on what package I get and keep in mind, that's for 4 FULL GROOMS. Today, only two of my Yorkies needed a full groom. The other two only needed a bath and nail trim. The total with the same customary 20% tip? $380.00!!!!!! How on EARTH can they justify charging that much for two grooms and two baths??? I will NEVER set foot in that place again. Who can AFFORD that??? They just lost a customer for LIFE. read more

first thing needs to be said that Abigail is the only one over there who is no longer there that knows how to cut hair I've been there several times will never return to this place you asked him to cut a dog's hair a certain way they do totally opposite I don't know what the hard part is this is what you do every day of your life and you can't get it right we even so pictures of the way we would like it cut. this will be the last time we ever go to Petco for grooming horrible horrible and they can't say how horrible they read more

The best and quickest nail trimming Otto ever had! The best! We will be going back for other services as well.

Their animals are sick and neglected , the place is dirty , DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED THERE, my little dog was choked with a neck harness and they just kept choking her more when they saw she was upset and they were hurting her. They also pulled her leg out and hurt her, please don't buy anything here or get your animal groomed it's a horrible place, i wish this whole industry would shut down the poor babies in there being stuffed in a cage or tank no room to move or breathe being trafficked for money its abuse read more

I will never go this location or anywhere or use VETCO unprofessional they hurt my 17 week old puppy inserting his chip they try to up sale their grooming services are horrible also if I could give a zero I would read more

Brought my dog's in for a nail trim and one cried out 2 times as the blood flowed. I'm so tired of these large Corp hiring minimum wage, untrained and unskilled workers. It's nail cutting for Christ's sake. read more

Highly recommend John in grooming. We have two large sheepdogs - he did a great job!

Will never shop here. Walked in and it was filthy, the animal pens are all dirty and the animals are sick. The $599 black capped conure was in a dirty pen and wouldn't stop shaking and very obviously had not been eating and was extremely emaciated and puffed up with dirty and greasy feathers. More than half the Betta fish are dead and their cups are yellow with little fish corpses in them. The lizards were dehydrated and trying to molt in dirty pens. This was truly disgraceful for a corporation that has in their mandate that they care about animals and animal health comes first to them. Definitely not returning to shop here. read more

Petco - Pet Groomers Near Me - North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Groomer Alexandria....Two words that are fit to say NEVER AGAIN. Very poor communication between front desk and groomer, the groomer did just what she wanted, I did not want the dremel used which I told them from the get go, groomer said, I could not read what Crystal wrote...really? Give me break. An added fact was that my dog is nearly 15/elderly and I asked then to make it as painless as possible. The poor sweet, little easy going pup was in there from 1:15 to 5:30, no other dogs as I was told he was the last dog of the day. She skinned his butt hole and he looks ridiculous, cotton candy head on a popsicle stick...grrrr. He has been itching like crazy since being there and the cut is all choppy looking??? So disappointed in that place. read more

For a change this is a positive review. Long story short, I purchased a new 75g fish tank the other day, left it in my car til I had help to get it in my house and when I went to bring it in I found what I thought was a crack in the bottom. I took it back to the store with the receipt, still concerned that because it was glass I couldn't exchange it. Surprisingly, they were perfectly willing to work with me, exchange or refund. The manager said making me happy was his concern. Fortunately a young man was looking at it and found it was just a glue string that looked like a crack. I've been to many of their stores and had less than 5 star experiences. This one, however, seems to be doing things the right way! read more

If I could choose no stars to leave this review I would. My 2 "Teddybear" dogs ( shih-tzu and Bichon mix both dogs) were groomed in Petco 4.5 years ago in No Myrtle Beach and when I went to pick my beautiful furbabies up the groomers had left them in the kennel cages alone in the grooming area. Told store manager to watch. He did not remember they were there so when we went to pick up our dogs the older one had a head covered in blood. She cut herself on the metal kennel somehow and she was so agitated and in shock from the trauma. The manager just handed well she was on the floor on a leash crying and shaking and he didn't even try to clean her up or offer me a way to clean her blood off. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE TRAUMATIZED DOGS WERE EHAT I HAD RETURNED TO ME AND MY HUSBAND!!!! The 2nd pet Was also so very anxious and shocky. NEVER TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE FOR GROOMING!!! Use a trusted groomer that is well received in your area. I can't believe this happened to our beautiful princesses! read more

My dog hates going - she gets so excited she is going in the car but then realizes where we are headed. However - I have had Shannon do her nails and this time was a full grooming. I can't trim her nails, they file them for me. So the grooming - short haired chaweenie - goes really well. Why not 5-star? That's a general petco issue. They have so many things - why don't their prices match what is online? Yes they price match (and it's a huge difference!) but it's a hassle, especially when buying more than 1 item read more

Petco - She just realized she's getting her nails done - Pet Groomers Near Me - North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Heather did an excellent job grooming my labradoodle which isn't always easy! She looked great and I could tell she felt better after a trim. I highly recommend Heather! I will say the other lady who worked in the grooming area was rude and pretty much didn't want to acknowledge I had entered the room, but aside for that great experience. read more

The store manager Cindy called to threaten me that if I did not take the review down from Yelp she was calling animal control and posting pictures of my dog's mats. It seemed ridiculous to me that this woman was so rude and out of control to someone who had been a customer at Petco for over 20 years. She informed me that she didn't care about my review, she had plenty of good reviews, (I never brought up the review.) She also told me that I signed a "mat waiver". I said, no- I signed something that told me the price of the groom and she said, "You are a grown person you should read what you sign," I said I did read it and I questioned the price and the groomer said she had made a mistake- so we crossed it out. Since my husband and I were very clear about not wanting my dog shaved, I do not believe I ever signed a mat waiver- except perhaps if it was in fine print, or for a different dog that I had groomed there. Poodles hair mats- that's why they don't shed. This manager said they had no choice but to shave her, even though I had made it clear that I didn't want that. She has been shaved to the point of having no skin, and she has several cuts, one under her front leg, which we are still keeping a close eye on. Our dog is still in pain several days later, she does not play- she has not been eating normally because she is not comfortable. All of her knuckles are skinned and her footpads are raw. I called Petco corporate because the nonsense of adding insult to injury to call me and threaten me with posting videos and pictures of my dog's groom is so ridiculous. They behave as if they have a vet license and have the right to make those kind of decisions themselves. I posted a review to warn people away from a store that operates in this manner. I have read of dogs dying in Petco's care while going in for a groom and I did not take it seriously- until now. read more

the manager was helpful, and very friendly. he made my trip to store pleasant. did what he could to make trip successful. I was able to purchase what I needed that day. will definitely return. read more

I brought my small dog here for grooming. Prior to my leaving him, the groomer and I discussed his cut and what I wanted. When I arrived to pick him up, I was told I had to pay first, then bring back the receipt, at which point my dog would be given back to me. I did and, against my better judgment, left a tip as well. When I saw him, his coat was much shorter than we'd discussed and the cut was very choppy and uneven on his head, ears, and face. I'm not pleased with his cut and will not be bringing him back. read more

Took my dog the get groomed. We got there 15 minutes late. The unprofessional woman was just sitting there. Before she even said hi, she told us we're late, and if she took him it would take her 5hrs. Really?? She claimed she had another appt. There wasn't a single dog in that place! We left and went back 20 minute later to buy something, and she was still sitting there. She is lazy, and unprofessional. read more

I recently brought my dog in to be groomed. He has been there before and I have been relatively pleased. This past time had to have been the worse experience that I have ever had concerning my dog. I made an appointment for 1 pm. I arrived 15 minutes early and it has always taken an hour or less to groom him. I went to pick him up an hour later and no one was in the grooming area. I found a store manager to find out what was going on, because I could her my pup crying somewhere. Once the groomer was found, she told that he had only been bathed. I was very unhappy with that answer. I could hear him in the kennel crying and I had to wonder how long he had been left alone in there? My dog was a rescue and was abused by being in a kennel for most of his life. After I let it be known I was not happy, the gal took him out and started grooming him. The most upsetting part of this was she knew I watching through the glass window as she talked on the cell phone the whole time! I would have hoped someone working with animals would be sensitive enough to know that a soothing voice may have alleviated some of my dogs stress. I have spent a lot of money in that store, buying dog food, toys and grooming. I will most definitely NOT be going back to the store again. I am an older person and my dog is such an important part of my life. read more

Horrible place to be at The people are there are so rude and don't know what there dong I would recommend not coming here

My appointment was at 9:30am at the North Myrtle Beach location. A homemade sign on the door said they open at 10am. I didn't know if I should knock to be let in. I waited a few minutes, then put my dog back in the car. An employee came out & talked on her phone & smoked a cigarette. A lady walking by told me to tell the employee that I was waiting. I went back to the door & stood there patiently because I didn't want to interrupt the employee's phone call. So the other lady went to the employee & said while pointing at me "her appointment was at 9:30". The employee said to her "yes ma'am" & motioned for me to go in & kept talking on her phone. The doors didn't open so how can I just walk in?! Not once did she stop talking on her phone to help me. After the lady drove off, I was still standing there at the door waiting to be let inside. The employee never got off her phone to let me in or get someone else to let me in. She didn't even speak to me. Needless to say, I was pissed so I left. She completely disregarded me. I find it ironic that she was on her phone talking about how others weren't pulling their weight. read more

I have had my Bichon groomed all over Myrtle Beach. I gave Petco on 544 one last chance and I am glad I did. Heather, the new groomer is the BEST in Myrtle. Talking to her, she just moved here from Pennsylvania and has been grooming for 14 years and it shows. BEST my Bichon has ever looked. Heather is super friendly and knowledgeable. Very skilled as well. I found my new groomer. read more

Horrible grooming experience with this place just to get nails trimmed. I go there to get fish and pup supplies and have spent a fortune in there. NO MORE!! One of the groomers had my rescue pup who was already scared to death from what she had been through. She put a nylon lease around her neck, one that tightens as you pull. She proceeds to turn on a large shop vacuum to clean up her mess from her previous dog which scared my poor baby to death. The stupid groomer was completely oblivious as to my freightened pup as she almost choked her to death. Had to take her to vet to make sure she was ok. Filed formal complaint with Petco Corporate and needless to say a couple months later the groomer is still there doing the same to other peoples pets. read more

I see all the comments talking about how great Heather is and they are all true! She grooms my toy poodle all the time. My doggie is usually a little nervous around other people, but always seems to enjoy seeing Heather. The job she does is always excellent too. My pup comes back with her nails trimmed nicely (she has dark claws so I give her so much credit for doing that) and hair looking great. This location is always pretty fast and cheap too! read more

We have gotten our two dogs groomed at Petco 3 times , 1st time they did a great job on both dogs. The 2nd time was okay but we weren't as happy with either dog. Yesterday I took them to be groomed , the groomers did a poor job, both dogs both needed additional trimming around their face, tails, and paws. I'm not sure if the ears were cleaned or even if they were given a bath. I had an appointment at 11:30 am and they weren't ready to be picked up till after 5:15 pm. As far as I'm concerned that's too long to keep the dogs in cages, especially when we ask to be called when finished, to top it off the price for grooming went up from $45 to $52 dollars each with a total of $104.00. I will definitely look for a different groomer in the future !!!! read more

Avoid grooming at all cost!!!! Suggestions of a better location below: If it were at all possible to give this negative stars I would. After several attempts at grooming here (I use to live away and had my dog groom d while visiting) they have gotten the complete worst as of lately. HOPE is the worst groomer I have ever encountered. Not only was she rude and she said completely inappropriate things....I have a 6 lb Morkie which she took a "trim" as a complete shave. Not only was it too short asthetically speaking, my dog has been completely traumatized and skiddish since her appt. she is 7 years old and has never ever acted this way. I have recently found a PRIVATELY OWNED groomer not far away who takes her time with each dog (book ahead because of this) it's called Waggin Tails located in NMB. I love Amanda but it is family owned and I'm sure the others are just as caring and consistent. DO NOT GO TO PETCO!!! read more

We have been shopping with this store since our pup became a part of our family. We have spent quite a bit of money since we tend to go with nothing but the best for our pup. You would think I have nothing but good things to say about this place since we keep going back. One incident however makes me write this review. We took him in for nail clipping service and it became a little awkward. After they trimmed his nails with a dremmel tool, they were bringing him out and he started pulling away while on his leash. One of the trainers who happened to be there stated that he needed puppy training becuase he was pulling. My wife informed her that he already attends a class and does very well with it. He was just a little nervous because of the dremmel tool. He is that way with anything new and loud. The trainer then tells my wife that she should probably cancel our class and come to theirs. I understand that companies need to drum up business, but there is a tactful way to approach it. Taking a judgemental approach with a customer and insulting their pup's behavior over something so trivial is not a good business plan. We are extremely happy with our trainer. All her statement did was leave us feeling uncomfortable and a little insulted. What this so called expert trainer doesn't realize is that I will now think twice before I make any purchase at this store. I might change my rating one day. For now, this I where I stand. read more
