This PetCo SAVED ME today. My poor pup was skunked last night and this was a first for me so I didn't know what to do. Add that to the fact that I live in an apartment with no yard or hose access and I didn't want to bring her inside to bathe her in the tub and stink up the apartment. I did my best to clean her up outside and she slept on the balcony all night. I called around this morning and since it was a Sunday a lot of places were closed or fully booked. Called this PetCo a little after 10 and they got her an appointment for 11!! I was thrilled. Staff was all incredibly nice, especially since my dog doesn't do well with other dogs. I have such mixed emotions about this store. The grooming team is always wonderful- I love the reports they leave for my dog! That is essentially the only reason they get two stars from me. For the store itself, everything is overpriced. It's the only pet store in the area so I continue to go which is on me. What frustrates me to no end is their price- match policy... or lack there of. If you order a pick- up order on the app it is much cheaper than going in store- mind you the employees have to do much more work if I order pick- up. I like to take my dog in and just ask to price match what's on my app but they give you the hardest time about it. Upon taking him back for grooming, the associate refused to take him. The paperwork I was given at the time of vaccination was missing something. He was wearing the tag given him at time of vaccination. The associate was rude and accused me of taking his tag from another dog. She could not help me contact Vetco to acquire document correction. POORLY RUN GROOMING, RUDE and UNHELPFUL STAFF!!! I called and asked to schedule with their BEST cat person, as mine gets very anxious and scared. When I arrived, Elaine? the "cat expert", with whom I had the appointment, asked a young girl standing there if she "had EVER trimmed cats nails!" I quickly stated I had specifically requested that SHE do it. I told her why and that my cat was slightly sedated. Elaine then said she "couldn't trim her nails if she was sedated!" NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THIS AND IT IS NOT STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE!!! She refused to take my cat. The worst part is that she DID NOT CARE one bit about all I had to go through to get there!!! I stopped here a few months ago. Our regular stop for food was out of the brand our puppy enjoyed at the time. I was immediately struck by how friendly the staff is. Risking leaving out a name: Jess, Madison, Ariel, Allison, Sky, and Chey are all incredible (I know I'm forgetting the other guy's name). They're always so happy to see our two little monsters. Jess, in particular, has created a lifelong attachment with our little girl. It's definitely not the biggest pet store in the area, but they make the best of their space. We've been taking the older of our puppies there for grooming and training. Laura has done a great job of communicating with us and helping us make our 8 month old girl a happier, more balanced kid. Dez--there aren't enough good things to say about her. Our wild little mama is an absolute handful, but she loves Dez. Her haircuts have been phenomenal; we haven't experienced the all-day waits that can be common with grooming; and, our girl is always so excited when we drop her off and pick her up. read more

I paid $80 and asked for a face and butt trim and tooth rushing along with a bath. THEY SHAVED HER WHOLE BODY, INCLUDING HER TAIL!!!!!!!!!!! Then when I got there they told me she almost hung herself. She is an 8lb maltipoo and I informed Dez that she lays down when getting groomed. SHE SAID NO PROBLEM!!!!!!!!! So how did she almost hang herself and why wasn't I called immediately. The cut itself is AWFUL. Her hair is very uneven all over. When I picked her up, I was asked if I was happy...I said nothing and just walked out. It is obvious the staff has no training and doesn't know how to handle small dogs that need extra attention when being groomed. I was first disappointed a few months ago when I took my 2 large dogs to get groomed. This is quite a chore. When I went to check them in I was told they weren't booked. I showed them on my phone where they had been booked. They said it had been canceled. I did not cancel it! So I decided I would take my boys elsewhere. I had ordered my large dog a large harness $50. It was delivered on time but when I went to put it on, it was a medium. I finally found time in my very busy day to try to exchange it. Tags still on. I didn't get a paper receipt. I've been having my dogs groomed here for several years now. It's always been a good experience until today. The groomer was very condescending and took it upon herself to schedule my next appointment because she felt my dog wasn't groomed enough. I have a shih tzu. They are prone to ear problems and my boy has always had dry skin. She suggested a flea jumped on him then jumped off although she said he did not have any fleas. We have been to the Dr twice recently over ear problems and it is an ongoing battle. Won't be paying them anymore to be talked down to. Time to find another groomer. read more

Today was my first time taking my dog, Ollie, here to get groomed solely because it was the place that had the soonest openings. This was also my first time asking for a full haircut rather then just the sanitary trim bc I like his long hair but figured he'd get too hot now that it's getting warmer. I'll admit that they took off a little more than I was expecting, BUT I still think he looks so stinking cute!!! I love his short haircut so much. He looks like a little bear. Additionally, Ollie is a rescue so he is usually very nervous and skidding around new people but when I picked him up he was all over Alexis and looked so happy, so I know they handled him well. I came to this location early this morning to buy a leopard gecko that I have had my eye on for about two weeks now. All I had to do was save enough money to buy his enclosure. Then I went to the store, and was ready to buy him, then a blonde woman took him from his enclosure held him by his tail and swung him around and placed him in her hand. He is SUFFERING with stuck shed and severe lethargy. He's not eating. I also did not see a water bowl. There were twelve bearded dragons in one enclosure. They refused me supervise even though I have everything to help this gecko. The best interest is never on animals here. Never go here. I will give them hell. read more

Okay, I come to this Petco all the time because of its location and have never had an issue except today. I came in today looking for a hamster ball for my hamster. As I was checking out, the cashier asked me if I had a hamster to which I said yes. I guess he assumes he's a doctor or a hamster god or something because he starts going on a rant about how horrible balls are for hamsters. He was very condescending and said most people put their hamsters in the balls and ignore them and they'll roll down the stairs and such. UM, I don't know who most people are but it sure as hell isn't me! I treat my hamster as my actual child and take excellent care of her. Any time she's in her ball I watch her and keep a close eye on her. His next point was that hamsters have to keep rolling in the balls and can't stop if they're tired. Uh, my girl can stop and will stop rolling if she's tired. Excuse me for trying to get my daughter some exercise. He then goes on about how their feet can get stuck in the balls. LIKE I SAID, I've had my hamster since last October and her feet have never gotten stuck. If they did, I'm not an idiot and I would not continue to use a ball. PICKLES loves being in the ball because who the hell wants to be in a cage all day long? (and her cage is enormous not a small one at all). He then tells me if I want to bond with my hamster to invest in a playpen for her as if I didn't know. I have one for her, but she hates it and it stresses her out. She tries to escape the entire time. Also what the hell are you on about me bonding with my hamster? I've had her over a year and she's my actual child. 100% sure we have established a bond. How dare this man assume I don't know anything about hamsters! Pickles is extremely loved and well taken care of. I also think it's funny Petco is trying to give me lessons on ethics when half the time their hamsters look sick. I did not get mine from here! He then tells me he knows because he has three hamsters. Why do you have three? They don't like to be together, so does he have three separate enclosures? Also, how are you BONDED with all three of them??? Since you can't have them together and they can't play together. read more

Grooming: Sarah was just awesome! I was so nervous picking a groomer for my 12yr old chihuahua. He cannot see well and has some issues with his knees. Sarah was very understanding. She took her time with my baby and was very gentle and detailed. He looks amazing! I will definitely use her again. She really cares about our fur babies and loves them as her own. read more

The grooming attendant maybe enjoyed her job at some point, but those days are long gone. She looked miserable and unhappy. We will not return to this store. I had purchased a hamster from the kingston pike location and allison was helpful with the process. I have owned hamsters for 10+ years and even have a youtube channel on taking care of small pets such as hamsters. And the hamster passed away after a week of having her after doing all the necessary protocols to keep her healthy. so i went and got a replacement on the 16 of january. and she was from the same group of syrains i had the previous hamster. and after 2 weeks of having her she died too suddenly. I found it weird that she died giving my other hamsters and gerbils are fine and i called to try and get a refund and allison told me to come in with my recipe to get a refund and didn't mention a thing about bringing the dead hamster so i buried her. i did return the previous one after freezing it as i live OVERan hour away.so i made a trip to just get a return and allison denied me even a instore credit to buy stuff for my other animals and i was blamed for the death of the hamsters. I am really disheartened on the poor customer service and understanding factor. I will not be retiring here for that fact and don't recommend anyone to buy animals from here either. read more

Can't complain, PetCo never fails and I have had great experiences at this location from their knowledgable and helpful employees. The only negative is their pet grooming department. It isn't the worse or bad but they have no sense of urgency or flame under their "behind" to get moving..... They take their sweet time and will make you wait a super-duper long time for a simple haircut and bath. For this, I docked one star; but overall, the store is a good one and an enjoyable one to visit. read more

The dog trainer kept talking to me about enrolling my sisters dog in behavior therapy just because he was barking at other dogs(when other dogs were barking at him too but she didn't say a word to those people) then she gave me the wrong size sweater. This is where my fur nugget gets her nails trimmed. I am the worst and never make an appointment, but they always get her in quickly. They are fast and inexpensive. I enjoy meandering the store and looking at the animals they have available while she is getting her spa treatment. The store is always clean and the staff is always friendly. After scheduling a morning appointment for dog grooming the time got changed without anyone calling me to ask if I could make it. I received a text message notifying me of the change and although it was a significant inconvenience I just accepted the change and gave up my Sunday afternoon. When it came time to go to the appointment I called to confirm before I left home and spoke with a girl whose name, I think, was Charlie. She told me that my appointment was at the location in Farragut so I loaded up my dog and left. 40 minutes later, and 6 minutes earlier than the time Petco rescheduled me, I showed up in Farragut only to be told that my appointment was at The location I had called. I lost an entire Sunday afternoon, $20 worth of gas and got nothing. I can see the bright side of this, if these idiots cannot even read a schedule I'm probably lucky that I didn't end up trusting my dog to them. I took my children to get their first hamster from here a female chinese dwarf hamster to be exact, which their minimum life span is 2yrs at the most. Dusty did not even make it a year because of the negligence of PetCo failing to properly care for their hamster litter. This was before their "30 day return" policy that Dusty came down with mites, yes we could have returned her but PetCo fails to realize that people, especially children grow an attachment with their pets in a short amount of time. + read more

I have used grooming services and appreciate the quick turn around when all I need is nail trimming.
