We initially thought we'd foster her for adoption due to her dog aggression issues. After working with Travis, we decided togive Rosie a forever home ourselves. We brought Travis in to privately train her so she didn't have to deal with the stress of a group setting and because we wanted a tailored training program. With Lone Star Dog Training, we received an excellent job. Travis educated us about how training is important and what results he felt we could see. Over the course of 4 months, Rosie went from being aggressive toward our other dogs to feeling safe and comfortable with them. She's even adopted our 12 year old border terrier as her sister. Rosie has progressed from a frightened stray who did not wag her tail or understand how to take affection, to bounding and leaping with joy when she sees her people. She now seeks out our affections and looks forward to spending time with us. If not for Lone Star Dog Training, we would not have decided to keep her. I can honestly say we got our money's worth with this one. Gunny did a complete turn around when it comes to his behavior but still maintained his affection. I was worried his playfulness would be completely trained out of him but that isn't the case. Gunny used to jump on everyone and run out the door every chance he got. Many times we've had to sprint around the block chasing him. He chewed on everything he could fit in his mouth and never sat still. If we couldn't see him at all times, he was sure to be destroying something. If we crated him, he howled. Thanks to Canine Texas, we still have our playful adorable pup but we can relax because he actually listens. He loves his place mat now. He gets to be a part of family time now. He hasn't jumped on a single person since bringing him home nor has he tried to run out of the door. He comes when called and we can actually take him for walks on a leash now without him pulling and yanking. We did the 30 day program. Of course we missed our pup but Lonnie sent pictures and updates so we knew he was in good hands. We chose Canine Texas because our dog wouldn't be in a cage in a business. He was at someone's home, in a small group, so he got the attention he needed. Lonnie focuses on truly training the dogs not just making money.

Bob gave me the tools to overcome this bump in the road and for that I was very grateful. It just was not happening before I hired him. We were and are in training with someone else to pass the AKC CGC test to become a Therapy Dog and he just wasn't getting it. I felt that this $350 was money well spent. When it came time to test, I got nervous so I called Bob again to help me with the portion of the test that was to have my dog have no reaction to another dog. There are certain tasks your dog has to pass and this is one of them. It is more than just walking by another dog. He was to take the test the next day but I was nervous to take the test in case he was to fail this portion. He suggested we meet in front of Petsmart. I was hesitant to stand in front of a store asking customers for help, but hey he is the trainer. I don't know if Bob is unfamiliar with the CGC test as he kept asking me what was expected. Maybe, he just wanted to visit. I kept wondering, "Why is he asking me? He is the professional, not me." After 3 customer's dogs pass by he said, "This lesson was a bust. I'm not going to charge you. You can use me for something else."He encouraged me to take the test anyway. Little did I know that the encouragement would cost $350. My dog did pass the test today, but it is not because of yesterday. My dog and I work every single day together. I absolutely use the tools I was taught by Bob for heeling. My dog is also still in obedience school with another trainer and doesn't need anything Bob has to offer. So, I asked for a refund and he said no. What he did for my dog that day was just look for dogs from customers, pace around the sidewalk and we pretty much just visited. Bob is quite an entertaining guy. This is a picture of Bob's response when I asked for a refund. My response was "Merry Christmas. Keep the money. God Bless." I guess he needs it more than I. Bob knows that standing in front of Petsmart talking and hitting up a few customers is not what got my dog to pass the test. It was hard work for the last 6 months and we have more to go. We are on our way to help those who need a great big dog hug.

They asked if my german shepherd had labored breathing at home and my husband and I said no. He never has. The female trainer said he had all this week with them. When the male trainer brought him in, my dog was literally choking on the slip knot around his neck in front of two trainers, my kids, and myself and husband. We told them he is choking and they denied it. I went to my dog and released the slip knot from around his neck and he quit the labored breathing thereafter. They continued to deny that he was choking. Y'all, I'm a doctor and my bf is a vet. I'm not stupid. The lack of accountability and even a basic apology was alarming. 2. Prior to him starting at SMS, I told the young lady during our consultation that he could already do sit, stay, and come. This week, the trainers taught him sit and place. So, he learned nothing really. 3. I was told that they use a vibration collar that just gets his attention. I straight up asked if it was a shock collar and was straight up told no. It's definitely a shock collar. 4. A random employee walks into the training room and is sitting behind a desk area. She literally looks me dead in the eye and asks me if he is a full blood German Shepherd, which I confirmed. Then she busts out with, " I have often thought about stealing him and taking him home with me" in front of my kids, my husband, and the other two trainers. I just look at her and go back to petting my dog. Then a few minutes later she says it again. No smile. No jk. Just creepy. 5. In good faith I paid in full for both of my dogs to train with this team. After today, my husband called and stated that since Snicker was getting choked, the lady threatened to steal our dog, etc...we no longer feel comfortable with the facility and asked if we could get a refund on the unused portion of our packages. The trainer said no. Ok, well please have your GM contact me. We have not received any contact from management. I did receive two phone calls from the staff. The first was them searching through my dog's file looking for where our dog was having labored breathing at home??? HE NEVER HAS. He couldn't breathe because they chose to use a slip knot noose type rope around his throat instead of just clipping his leash unto his collar which has been on his neck all week. Then, said lady calls me wanting to explain the "comment" about my dog. She won't tell me her name and told us she never said that she had thought about STEALING my dog, etc... Y'all. This is classic denial/gaslighted. I don't even care if they get on Google and make up some craziness about me at this point. I care about honesty. I care about animals. I care about people. I care about doing the right thing. Please be cautious about this facility. In my experience, they will lie to make a sell and then try to cover up their mistakes. Had they just apologized for choking my dog or admitted truth about what was said to us about shock collars, the lady's stealing comments, etc...I would definitely feel differently.

What I witnessed today explains why, I watched one of the groomers attempt to place a large white Shepard into a kennel, I assumed she was done with him, the dog didn't want to go in, so she spanked the dog several times. I asked if they treated all pets like that, and one worker asked like what? I explained what I saw and she proceeded to ask the worker if she spanked the dog and she replied yes but only on the butt and she went back to what she was doing as if it wasn't an issue. I don't hit my dog, nor will I put up with anyone hitting him. I will not be bringing my pet back to this place, nor would I recommend this groomer.
