Petco in Huntsville, AL did not do them. 2 months, a 2 month ear infection and $1000 later, Petco offers a refund and a portion of the vet bills, but will not return calls, emails or provide any information by phone. My wife and I have made this place our go to pet store. The location is convenien, the staff is insanely helpful and patient, and every product we have purchased has been of superior quality. We are BIG TIME aquatic and reptile enthusiasts and have a large collection of Bearded Dragons, Fish, and Hedgehogs and every time we visit this location we are greeted with a warm smile and a true caring attitude. I can't say enough about the staff here and to top it off we joined the companYu's vital care and have saved a ton of money to support our micro farm. After getting my toy poodle groomed today I took a close look at my receipt. They charged me$52. For bathing and grooming and $ 5.99 for a material fee. When I called the grooming dept for an explanation of the material fee I was told that Petco automatically charges this fee everytime you take a pet in to help pay for their supplies and equipment. That's not my or your responsibility that's a business expense. I will no longer shop or get my pet groomed at Petco. read more

Yesterday I went up to the store in Huntsville and bought four fish. As I was checking out the lady told me there's a 30-day guarantee on the fish. Well when I got home and I put the fish in my tank when I came back a few hours later one of the fish was dead so I thought whatever I'm going to bring them back and get my money back. When I went to the store today the lady looked at me and said where's the water sample I can only return the fish with that sample and I said well I wasn't told that I needed a sample. Then she told me while I change the fish anyway and then when she looked at the receipt and so how much the fish was she said oh no I need a sample. I really love the girls who work here. They are all so nice. Tineya was really helpful the other day when I went in to buy a couple of female beta fish. Leslie is the manager and she is AWESOME!!!! I love her. She's super friendly, bubbly, outgoing, very hardworking and professional. I thought I had done a review already. I was visiting the area from Maryland and brought our furbaby down with us. Since we were already registered with Petco we decided to have our pet groomed there. We scheduled an appointment online for 5 pm, without knowing that it would take 4 to 5 hours to do everything we wanted. When we got there at 4:30, they were already backed up with previous appointments. So after waiting two hours it was obvious that they weren't gonna be able to finish our pet in an hour when the store closes. I have to say that the management really took care of us and offered to have everything done for free if we could come back first thing on the next day. So that's what we did and they kept their word. I know they normally give you a discount, but they went above and beyond to take care of us. Thank you very much for doing this. We would also like to thank their groomer "Dee" for the excellent service she provided. She was very knowledgeable, professional and knows what she's doing. She took her time and did an excellent job. I only wish that you were closer to us up in Maryland, cause we'd definitely come and see you every time. I would not recommend taking your dog here to get groomed unless you are okay with them completely shaving all your dogs beautiful coat off! I just picked up my mini golden doodle puppy from his grooming appointment and I've never been so shocked, i didn't even recognize him. I asked them to trim down his body and trim down where his mouth gets wet from drinking water and they completely shaved off his beautiful curly hair and also left razor marks on his face!!! You would think any experienced groomer should know not to completely shave a golden doodle as it messes with their coat but i guess not! If i could give them zero stars i would. read more

I don't usually go out of the way to review big chain stores, but the negative review from Amanda I wanted to write about my positive experience. I just adopted a puppy, and first went to petsmart to get supplies, the staff there was horrid, and i left flustered. I got to this Petco, and they were wonderful. The sales woman took me around to every aisle, and explained what I needed for my puppy, and what was nonsense. She also gave me 3 pounds of treats for my girl for free! After that I signed up for puppy school. The staff may not know about chameleons, but they will treat your dog with love and affection! read more

The in-store associates are great, they are all kinds of helpful and seem above-average in knowledge compared to other chain stores. That is this store's only saving grace, and the only reason for the 2 stars given. I bought a young Dumbo rat as a pet for my girlfriend. He was a wonderful little guy, gentle and curious. Within a few days, he developed a cough. We took him in to the vet that Petco uses/recommends, who checked him out, prescribed some antibiotics, and said he'd be fine in a few days. He died about an hour later. A couple days later, I got a follow-up call from Petco, to see how things were going. I told the guy on the phone what happened, and within an hour I was on the phone with a regional manager. We had a long talk, during which he offered to "take care" of the $8 cost for the rat. When I explained I wasn't worried about the $8 so much as I was the breeding conditions wherever their small rodents are sourced, he said he wasn't aware of any problems with their sourcing, and that Petco goes to great lengths to approve and monitor breeders and suppliers. That was when I received assurances that the issue would be "looked into." I expected a follow up from him, mainly because he told me he'd be in touch in a week or so. Nothing. Fast forward one month, we're in Petco to look around, which we do every week or so. And there in the rat cage, is a white rat with bleary eyes, listless and off-balance, in very obvious respiratory distress. I immediately demanded the staff on duty contact that regional manager. Instead, the on-duty "acting" manager took the rat in the back, to schedule him for a vet visit in the morning. More assurances. Look, I get it. Store employees can't be everywhere at once all the time, they can't notice every single thing, and I'm sure they care to some degree. I also understand most of their rats and mice are sold as food, and I don't object to the practice. That is all understandable. What is NOT understandable is that Petco clearly has an issue with at least one breeder/supplier of rodents, and they have not done enough to correct it if they are still getting sick rats in the store. People who buy mice and rats for food don't usually care if they get an animal with pneumonia. They want a cheap meal. But dealing with a breeder that keeps animals in unsanitary conditions, that overbreeds the animals, that places more emphasis on cutting costs than producing healthy specimens - that is unethical to begin with. But to then turn around and sell these animals to people as pets? That is reprehensible. Diseases such as mycoplasmosis are ubiquitous in rats, but in otherwise healthy individuals these diseases are easily managed and rarely fatal. I suspect strongly without being able to prove it that Petco is dealing with at least one substandard rodent breeder, and I am not satisfied that they have done much, if anything at all, to find the problem and remedy it. Until then, incidents like this are a stain on their reputation, are indicative of apathy not only to the poor animals but also to Petco's customers. Anyone who professes to love animals will take notice and likewise demand better of Petco. read more

They went way above expectations and our dogs were not as anxious to leave as they usually are when we have them groomed which leads me to believe they enjoyed their stay. read more

If I can rate this place a zero I would. Took my dog here to get groomed nails cut and hair cut. They asked us if they needed to know anything about her before we gave her to them to get cut. We told them not to cut her nails to short because she has a long nerve vain in her nails n she will be in a lot of pain if they do. They even wrote this down. And what do they do disregard what we tell them and cut her nail short. Now she screams whenever it is touched. That or they did something to her to make her leg hurt. Or something maybe that is the reason why this appointment took the entire day because they were waiting for her to not be hurting anymore. They told us it would be 3 to 4 hours and it took 7. They didn't even call us when she was ready and we checked multiple times to see if she was done and apparently they weren't. And not to mention that her haircut looks horrible and not what we asked for. Do not take ur dog here if u care about them. Super disappointed. read more

We have been using Petco for all of our grooming and food needs for the past 11 months after we got our new puppy. I can not express the high level of care that the staff provides whenever we have come into the store. We are always greeted and asked if we have a specific thing that we are looking for. They never just "direct" you to an aisle, they have always taken the time to go to the specific aisle with us and explain the pros and cons of the different products. I called yesterday explaining my dog had matting around his ears due to constant ear infections (which we treat every two weeks with a medication our Vet supplies) but he constantly rubs his head and causes the matting she indicated a higher fee and I had no problem with that she the asked is your rabies updated I said yes unaware my husband had not renewed the rabies shot (he has had a rabies shot for 12 years of his life and we were only two months late). Making sure I called our family Vet immediately and when I found out the rabies shot was needed, I took him immediately and we got the shot. My dog was praised for his wonderful behavior. As I was on my way to their shop which is over 25 miles away to the nearest Petco Groomers, I called again saying I had his shot and paperwork but was informed he couldn't be groomed for 24 hours after the shot. I called my Veterinarian and he said that was ridiculous because truthfully the shot took TEN days to get into the dog's system, so ONE day was no help. Honoring their policy my husband then called and made an appointment. for today.I took him for his 10:30 a.m. appointment. She asked if he had his rabies shot I informed her yes he had the new tag. She said we require the paperwork from the Vet she was rude and acting if they were some high-end dog groomers but I said I believe the paperwork is in the car. Retrieving the paperwork I gave it to her and stated the last time he was groomed at Petco Groomers he had a few cuts on him but I see this is a new Salon and I'm sure you can do this without hurting him or cutting him his usual groomer has no problems at all but has injured her shoulder and is unable to do large dogs anymore. She was looking at his ears and said because he was matted he might have some irritation from the grooming I told her I understood there would be some irritation but cuts or open wounds were going to be unaccepatable. She said she had to speak with her manager. The whole time from the minute I came into the store she had taken a rude arrogant tone with me but I just wanted my dog to be taken care of and to be expertly groomed. When I had gone to the car and came back in with the paper from the Vet an owner with a small dog was told they may have to shave his tail because of matting the owner said that was fine and left. But when I had made sure no cuts or wounds would be acceptable the manager said they could not take my dog that I need to take him to a Vet. My regular groomer has no problems. NONE. The people were very rude and cause me a 50 mile round trip for NOTHING but to be spoken down to and treated unkindly.Their signs say, Expert Groomers, yet they cannot do as well as a Groomer from a small town? On December 24, I purchased an x-large kennel for $259.41 using my USAA debit card, and within 15 minutes and without even leaving the store, I returned the same kennel because my mother was going to purchase it for me as a gift, using her USAA debit card with a DIFFERENT NUMBER/DIFFERENT ACCOUNT. After speaking with 4 different employees at that store and 3 different representatives at Corporate, on multiple occasions, they still have not returned my $259.41. On Jan 11, the manager told my mother that he just found out about the issue and he needed time to fix it. Today is Jan 24. Petco, where is my money and when do you plan on returning it? Several months back before I started going to this Huntsville location, I provided negative feedback for the Madison location (not going to re-hash those horrible experiences here) so I thought it only appropriate to provide feedback to this location. I have been 100% satisfied with the grooming salon, specifically Zana and Liz. These two have shown my two dogs such personal care that it warms my heart. Whatever happened to my Cocker after his experience at the Madison location, he was terrified to be groomed even though I switched locations. Zana tried but he was too sick from nervousness to let her continue. I rescheduled and she personally allowed me to sit in while she groomed my Cocker so I could also reassure him he was in good hands. Since then, I have had no issues dropping them both off and letting these two ladies take care of them. You can tell the entire grooming staff sincerely care about each pet that comes to their shop, something I definitely didn't feel when I went to the Madison location. They are flexible, skilled, and all-around GREAT for what they do. read more

buy your fish here.... just make sure when it dies, you bring in the dead fish and a water sample!!...even though you go look at their tanks, and they are full of dead fish ..same ones as you just bought... and they tell you they cant do nothing for you... ridiculous... haven't had any problems with their fish before .. but when I did get one with an issue... I gotta bring in a dead fish and a water sample, even though they have the same exact fish that they just sold me floating dead back in their tanks... OH and the other fish I bought at the same time are perfectly fine.. but they still gotta have a dead fish and a water sample.... so they can make sure less people come and get their money back on their barely looked after fish that are all stuffed way to full in their small tanks.(!!!that they act like are so well looked after you have to bring in the dead fish and a water sample to get a refund or new fish)(crock of you know what!!!!) ..
