I recently stopped at the Farmington Park Petco and was greeted by an associate named Tru. She was very friendly and helped me with some fish and find some cleaning supplies. The store seemed understaffed so she had to help with the register which I didn't mind and she was apologetic for leaving me. Every time that I have been in this store the associates are friendly. To me customer service is very important to keep me returning. read more

This Petco is tiiiiiiiny! Like, half the size of a normal location. I stopped here to pick up some items to donate to an animal shelter, and they just happened to have a bunch of food and supplies on clearance, so that was great! The employees were struggling. I'm not sure if the girl checking my items out was new, but she had several issues processing the order. She was sweet, though, and another employee offered to help me out to my car, so that was nice. I don't love big box pet stores, and since this one is so small it kind of negates the purpose of going to a big box place when you could support a local store that's probably only slightly smaller, but they did serve the purpose I needed, so I guess if you're in the area it's an acceptable option. read more

Recently got our dog groomed at PetCo by Karen Caws. Ruby is a lab/standard poodle/Australian shepherd and weighs over 80 pounds. Big dog who got the lab/shepherd fur which sheds a lot. Karen did a great job. Ruby looks beautiful with a very short haircut. She no longer has fur in here eyes and doesn't drip quite so much after a drink. I would avoid Ruby after a drink -- so messy, but not anymore. I've scheduled our next appointment. Ask for Karen! read more

This location in Station Park is our closest Petco but they always seem to be understaffed. Last time we were there we stood in the checkout line for a loooong time. We go there because it's convenient but I avoid this store whenever possible. read more

Terrible grooming services. They don't even brush out your dog or add the PAID add ons like face trim or shed-release. When you want to actually checkout and pay for the terrible (overpriced) service, there is no one around. They are hiding in the back or busy talking to each other. The store is filthy and the floors have grime on them from opening day. Go anywhere but here. read more

They have prices that are better than most places and have deals for a dollar a gallon on fish tanks often. I would strongly recommend

We all know how poorly the reptiles at petco are treated, this store takes that to a new level. As does the very rude service. I came in for the first time and saw a corn snake that had been dead so long it looked like beef jerky. I also noticed that they had a spider ball python and didn't have a sign up for 'fancy' so I figured I'd let them know that they were selling a 100-200$ snake for 80! Thought it was nice of me. I very nicely let her know and she said she would let her manager know. I felt it was a nice interaction and continued my shopping, I later overheard her tell another coworker (out in the store by the dog food! Not even hidden!) that 'I think we know what animals we are selling!' And being very very rude. Anyways I guess they semi figured it out since before I left they had changed it to say 'pinstripe' ball python. Close enough. (Ps it still to this day says pinstripe when they have a spider) Anyways, I have seen things in this store that have actually made me walk out in tears (although I really try not to as I HATE being 'that' person.) Ball pythons in shed with humidity at 10 percent, all animals with feces completely EVERYWHERE, and animals deathly skinny. I really just want any petstore to have to KNOW what they're doing. Oh! Also, came here to buy things for a leopard gecko that I did not plan on buying here. Was not going to tell the employee why I was there because I knew what would happen, however my mother who was there with me didn't have the same plan. The employee was nice enough but was very pushy, trying to get my to buy sand (NEVER put the Leo's on sand guys) and other things that I DID NOT need, also wound up feeling the pressure and got one of their leopard geckos. I love him all the same but I very much would have preferred to not get one there and support their keeping of them, though that's my fault. Very pushy and also most employees are rude. 0/5 stars. read more

I've never been to this location before, and I was completely shocked by the state of the animals and their enclosures. I couldn't even buy the cat litter I came in for because I was offended for the animals and couldn't stomach supporting such a place. Many animals were lethargic and dull, multiple dead fish, the cages were all pretty smelly. Heartbreaking that this company claims to care about the well being of all pets, yet allows these creatures to live in squalor. Disgusted. read more

If I could give this a zero star I would. Went in to buy fish a few weeks ago only to find that half their tanks have dead fish floating in them! End up getting an glow plant but returned it the next day because it came apart. Was treated extreme rudely by the cashier when I mentioned that I thought it came with the actual light as well. She responded with somethings along the lines of "Of course it doesn't, how stupid are you?" Save yourself the trouble and just go somewhere else where you get treated like a person. read more

I took my dog in to get groomed. One of the things Included in that was a nail trim. But my babies nails are still razors. Also didn't have a seven point check in that is said to be done before each appointment. I haven't actually ever seen that done with my dog. Also paid for the face feet and fanny trim and only her face got trimmed. Her fanny is still a fluffy mess. The workers are pleasant enough but I don't think I'm getting what I'm paying for. Hopefully things improve soon, because the location of the store is very convenient for me and I would like to continue going someplace close read more

Was so excited when this opened up! My daughter bought 2 long tailed lizards for $70 a piece and they ended up having a parasite that killed them 2 weeks later. When we went in to talk to the manager, they told us that they were now aware of the parasite and got rid of their other lizards but would not give us a refund. Beware of purchasing anything from this store that is alive! read more

Imagine a German Shepherd, think of the big bushy beautiful tail that is unique to them. Now imagine a German Shepherd with that tail hair shaved off. That is what happened when I took my gorgeous GSD in for a simple bath. How does a "certified groomer" not know you DO NOT CUT A GERMAN SHEPHERDS HAIR. Besides taking away the identity of the shepherd but butchering the tail, they left a bald spot behind the ear where they were too lazy to comb out a snarl so just cut to the skin. Please don't make this mistake, go to a real groomer. Oh they must not give the dogs water either cause he was desperate for water and truly seemed stressed, even had explosive diarrhea. I think they really mistreated my dog, and made him ugly, and all I got was a refund and a 5 dollar coupon for the next visit. Ha!!! Sure I will not be back for any reason. read more

This will be the second horrible experience I had at this Petco. A couple months ago I went in looking for a ferret that would fit well with me. When I asked the lady if she would open them she got really frustrated and asked if I was "even interested" in buying one which I told her I was and she opened the cage. To their surprise I found one of their brand new babies sick and looking miserable. Now just two days ago (Sunday) my husband and I went looking for a second ferret to buy so that ours could have a friend. We walked into the Petco to find one person working and it was quite crowded. We decided to come back, we ended up going to three different petco's then coming back to the Farmington to hold one of the ferret's we had been interested in. When I asked the customer service guy (his name was rob) to open the cage, I was once again asked if I was "even interested" in buying one, which I told him I was and that I was shocked that this was the second time someone was saying this to me, to which he replied "well then why do you keep coming back?" I told him because I had one ferret and was looking for another one that I thought would be a good fit with my ferret and me. After I said that he said "this is not a petting zoo." Now I know that petco is not a petting zoo but with my experience with ferrets tells me each has its own personality and needs to find a good match for a forever home. This really bothered me, considering that you would think a pet store would be encouraged by customers coming back multiple times to make sure that this is the best decision for them and for the pet's. I have never dealt with such crappy customer service in a store. Not only that but my mother is a regular customer there and has been since it opened and she says that the man that I talked to was the manager. I surly hope not. And I truly hope those ferret's find a home sometime since no one can hold them and they are CLEARLY much to over fed and under exercised. read more

Went into this store a week or so ago for some cat treats and toys and was very pleased with the overall care of all of there animals I read the review below about there "poor treatment of animals" and want to say something has definitely changed because there animals are alive active and well cared for and about those photos the geckos heads at not stuck that's how they sleep and fyi if you have 6 baby bearded dragons in a tank there going to poop a lot so to keep it totally poop free is unrealistic 99% of of owners only clean poop from a tank weekly or even biweekly as far as I'm concerned this petco is a wonderful place to find a pet anyways back to my visit the lady at the checkout line seemed kind of new but was very nice and did not come across as pushy. My wife and I will definitely continue to shop at this petco read more

Going to the pet store of always a family outing. My son (4) and I went to Petco to get some fish for our aquarium. It was very busy, and we could only find one employee. He was nice enough, came over to help us get the fish we picked it out. He explained that the other employee was taking the garbage out. After dropping 1 fish and killing several more, we ended with only 2 of the 5 fish we had come for. It took atleast 20 minutes for the fiasco to go down. In the mean time, 2 people where waiting to pay and another was waiting for assistance. Finally the other employee returned from the 'garbage' run, I was shocked to read her 'manager' name tag! Long story short she was no help either. We were mischarged by her at the register. We will drive the extra 10 minutes to go to Centerville out Layton next time! read more

Nice clean store with a lot of variety on cat foods and cat litter. I also love seeing the fun animals like turtles and parikets. We come here for all our animal needs. read more

It's convenient and they are always friendly. But frankly the haircut is problematic. The toenails including the dewclaws are rarely cut and the anal ducts are NEVER dealt with! read more
