We had a dog for many years and he when he passed away we decided we would get a puppy. Of course,…read morewe thought training Maggie our new dog would be easy. Were we ever wrong. We booked an appointment with Tony when Maggie was about four months old. The transition was unbelievable. He explained to us how dogs think and taught use how to correct bad behavior. In addition to teaching Maggie, Tony taught us what we were doing wrong. I feel it was well worth the cost and recommend K-9 Academy to anyone who is looking to get training for their dog.

I'm so glad we enrolled in Tony's classes at K9 academy because now we have a obedient dog and the confidence to continue with his training throughout the rest of his life. Most people are nervous to bring their beloved pets to trainers for fear of training to be too rough on them, I know we had our concerns when looking into trainers. Tony is very careful and shows you how to properly correct your dog from bad behaviors without hurting them like some of the other extreme methods for dog training. K9 academy charges a fair price for such a great experience, training and confidence you get with training your dog. I loved the fact that if I have questions even outside of class at anytime during the day I can call him for help and he will guide us in the right direction. You can't get that kind of service from any corporate pet store that offers dog training. Tony also never tried to up sell us on any kind of equipment for training or classes that he felt we didn't need. Tony's very passionate about his work and you can really tell his love for dogs when you meet. K9 academy offers so many different class everything from basic obedience to bomb sniffing training so it's easy to find something right for you and pursue your dogs training as high as you'd like. Our puppy is now 8 months old and is an extremely well behaved and gentle dog. Tony will forever train our dogs as we adopt more of them. If I could rate this place any higher than 5 stars I would. Thanks K9 academy.

I was ecstatic to find a dog boarding/grooming/training/daycare 5 minutes from my house! It's…read morelocated at the rear of the Wet Paint building on Horton Street. This isn't a "free-for-all" for any dog owner to bring their dog as they can a regular outdoor dog park. This is more of a daycare/boarding facility and you will need to provide shot records. You can bring them for one day but there is a fee. When you call to inquire, Neil will first schedule your dog(s) for a free "consultation" where he sees how the dog's temperament is, how he/she is with other dogs, etc. If you decide to bring your dog here, you'll need your dogs shot records for rabies and Bordetella. Neil, Sara and Devin are so good with the dogs. There is a huge indoor area to run around, play, and do what dogs do. Our two medium size dogs love coming here -- they literally jump at the door to go in when we first arrive in the morning! As soon as they see one of the staff members, they get excited and run to greet them! When I pick them up after work they are tired out and sleep for the rest of the night!!! Prices are great as well and there are discounts for multiple dogs. HOURS: Monday thru Friday from 7 am to 6 pm Saturday, Sunday: Boarding only -- but are sometimes open for daycare. Check their Facebook page. Lots of info there!

Let me start off by saying, I missed my trip cause of these animals (owners Devyn, Neil, office…read moremanager) and was charged $400 to keep my GSD for one day. I prepaid $300 (six days) for a suite (never do that with them, they will scam you). They saw the dog ahead of time and approved his stay. (I specified to them nobody would take my dog in since he's not neutered/trained). I dropped him off @ 10 am and had to catch a flight in NY. At 4 pm I get a text saying dog has anxiety and there are damages. They self-assessed damages @ $100 and charged my card without my consent. Next morning @ 9 am I picked up my dog all crippled, dehydrated, and weak from a small crate instead of a suite. Neil (the husband) began to upsell their training services and stated my $250 credit can be used towards that. When I declined, then the response was well then we'll use that money for the damages that are really no more than $100. They were also moving him (dog) from crate to crate to justify the damages. I paid for a bigger space and if the dog was nervous he should of been confined to one suite (not crate). They made all of the wrong decisions and dumped it all on me. Rover is a better alternative in my opinion. When the dog was brought back home he was severely dehydrated. (there was no water in the crate). Drank for 5 min non stop. They kept him without water overnight. I lost thousands of dollars on my flight, hotel, dog boarding. Dog was hospitalized for the first time in his 4.5 years. My attorney discouraged any reviews but I don't want anyone else getting hurt.

His Dog Ziti is there with him everytime I go in anyway He has day care, pet supplies, grooming & training. He also does therapy for older/weakened dogs with Hydro-Therapy and cold laser treatments. Paul also brought in Janet Mannear who is the one who does all the training. She is great! Between the two of them they saved my dog's life. (story below) I was the third person to adopt this dog (he was 10 days from his first birthday when I adopted him) He is currently 86lbs black and brown brindle, Great Dane, Lab, Pit bull. My dog is hyper head strong and just plain strong. When I got him he listened to nothing, no commands were ever taught to him. My hands were constantly bleeding because he pulled that bad when I walked him. My arms were complete bruises, not just a few you could not see skin color from my wrists to above my elbows, because that's what he was taught before me that is just how he played. Jump and grab arm with teeth, and try to wrestle. I also ended up with my wrist sprained, twice. I literally could not put up with it much longer and I had been told by the kennel I adopted him if this didn't work and he came back he would be put down. Most of my friends and family could not understand my devotion to keeping this dog and keeping him alive. I had offers from them to take him back to the shelter if I couldn't handle the hand over. I kept telling them no and I am very glad that that was my decision. I work in the Plains area and when I saw the sign go up for Pawsitive Pup I got very excited. I went in, talked to Paul and explained the above situation. Paul told me that there would be a training class starting the following week and I signed up right then. He also gave me a few things to try with my dog in the mean time to help me out (at no charge, I'm not kidding when I tell you he cares about you and your pets). I have had my dog (Ranger) in here weekly since the doors of Pawsitive Pup opened. Ranger graduated his 6 week Pawsitive Pup Basic Obedience Training last night and I am amazed at his improvement! He sits, comes when called, lays down, stays all on command! (well mostly we are still working on this he listens about 85% of the time now, where before it was 0% of the time) Ranger is so much calmer now and I am extremely happy to say my arms look like arms again! He is a different dog that the one I brought home exactly 2 months ago today. I will be signing him up for the Pawsitive Pup Advanced Training as soon as it starts. I am very excited to continue his training and socialization with Paul Janet and everyone at Pawsitive Pup! I boarded my dog here in June and was absolutely disgusted. When I picked him up he had a deep scratch down his nose. I assumed it was from a run-in with another dog and no big deal so I ignore and take him out to the car. When I go to lift him in he smelled so strongly like cleaning product and was covered with poop on his rear (this has never happened at home, he is a large dog). I go inside to ask for a paper towel or something to clean him up and no one comes out so after standing there for a few minutes I just leave and go put him in my car. He had mass amounts of hair coming off him so I give him a bath as soon as we get home and notice he has an ear infection (hasn't had one since he left the pound) and his paw paws are peeling off and cracking I can't even imagine what would cause this. He used to go into his crate no problem and it took 3 days for him to willingly go into his crate again. When I initially left for vacation and contacted them for an update it took 48+ hours to respond. This isn't just unacceptable it's boarder line animal abuse. I would never, under any circumstances take my dog there again.

My most recent contact with Nikki has been in relation to her latest litter of Vom Evolution puppies as I have been thinking about getting another dog. Her knowledge and experience specifically with working line german shepherd dogs and all dogs in general makes her one of the best trainers and resources in Pennsylvania. I am editing this to add that Nikki's training facility is spotless. It is easily one of the cleanest animal facilities I have ever been to. She takes pride in her work and it shows.

He would spend hours at a time standing in our living room barking at us and had us at wits end. He would pick and choose when he wanted to listen and when he wanted to do his own thing, and he was so terrified/defensive of other dogs, we worried whenever we took him out where other dogs would be. Now, Chewbacca is a top-notch gentleman. Starr not only taught us and Chewy lots of new commands, more importantly she taught us how to handle him and how to take the lead. Chewy has not only completely transformed in listening to us, but he is also now substantially more comfortable around dogs he doesn't know - something we never believed would happen. What Start was able to teach us and Chewy was absolutely life changing for all of us - thank you Starr!

I had no idea just how much better they could be. Starr has brought us a much more relaxed home and for that I am eternally grateful. A couple ways our life has changed: Everytime I had my windows or doors open my boys would bark at the slightest noise whether it be a car, person, or their shadow. I am now able to sleep with my windows open for the first time in 6 years. My neighbors can be outside and I can have my doors open and my boys no longer bark incessantly. I can now sit on my porch with my boys and enjoy my neighborhood and evenings without my boys going crazy and trying to run all over. My boy Cache used to act like a mongrel walking on a leash. We were unable to take him anywhere. He's literally torn pads on his feet trying to get into the vets office from pulling so hard. Since the training, I am able to walk Cache into the vet, get a weight on him by myself, and Cache will actually lay down and wait to be seen. We used to have to wait in the car and carry him in. We recently brought the boys out for icecream and multiple people have commented on just how well behaved they are. A couple months ago we would have never heard that! In January my boys had a difference of opinion about the ownership of a bone and my boy Damian had bit my Cache. Cache understandably had some trust issues. I felt as though I was walking on eggshells thinking they were going to have continual issues. Starr's training has brought my boys back together and have strengthened their bond with not only me and my husband but also with each other. They are starting to play and cuddle with each other again. "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do."- Edward Everett Hale Starr's training works! My whole house is much calmer and I have a renewed confidence in my boys and also myself. I feel much more in control. Training was hard work and dedication but my boys are worth it! Thanks to Starr's training my heart is full of happiness with all of the success we have achieved and no words can truly express just how grateful I am...
