This is a great place to shop for your pets. We recently adopted a kitten here who is doing great and petco gave us a book filled with all kinds of coupons for our kitty. The associate helped us find everything that we needed and got us signed up with a rewards program. Our cat loves coming in to the store with us. The store is always well stocked and cleaned.When it was time to go to the register, the cashier knew exactly what coupons to look for and where to find them in the book that we were given during the adoption. With the coupons we ended up saving about $25 in the store. We bought the so fresh cat litter from the store and it actually smells a little like cinnamon. I've raised a lot of cats and the cat litter that they sell they actually works better then most of the other brands that I have tried. Today we went back and we got the same great service that we received the day we brought our kitten home. I would defiantly recommend petco if you are looking to adopt a pet, buy a pet, or just need pet supplies. From what I understand, they also have grooming and vet services there too. I will be making all of my pets appointments here for any future services that I need. read more

I would not recommend recommending using this place for any of your pet needs, especially grooming. Somehow, they are the only people in the world that got a golden retriever to "bite" while doing the grooming. And they refuse to take him any longer. No context, no explanation of what happened, obviously he felt threatened, which makes me wonder what kind of people they have work in there. He is a golden retriever for God sakes, and has never attempted to bite anyone or any other animal in his life, however, somehow, Petco managed to make him do it. So they claim. read more

I recently visited Petco this past weekend and it was deeply disturbing, not too mention absolutely disgusting. This store and it's employees should be ashamed. Beta fish in cups dead and dying in gross water. Saltwater tanks were horrifying, the ones you could see in anyway. Freshwater tanks gross. Dead fish and snails everywhere. These assholes have a pleco in a 3 gallon tank. The poor turtle was swimming in filthy water with nothing but a rock, trying to get out. The birds are not taken care of. Dead snacks and lizards. The employees wandering around like they have nothing to do and they sure aren't checking out or helping customers. I will shop here again and I will report them to everyone I can think of. This store needs to be shut down immediately. They do not care about any of the animals or fish in their care. Words cannot describe how awful this store is. read more

Customer service was rude and I felt like me and my son were discriminated against going to PetSmart from now on .

I never write reviews but have to today. DO NOT take your dog here for grooming. I've now had two horrible experiences. today they cut my dogs ear so badly that it will not stop bleeding. Petsmart in Hermantown is very good but hard to get an appt at (which probably tells you something). Petco you can always get an appt but I wonder if they even train their groomers. so concerning. read more

This store KNOWINGLY buys fish from a supplier that are already sick when they arrive. I visited the store a week ago, and while the staff were friendly, there were quite a few dead fish in the tanks. I asked the staff member who was cleaning out the corpses if anyone ever checked on the tanks, and she said that they're supposed to be checked twice a day and it hadn't been done that morning. She also told me that fish frequently die right after they get a fresh supply because they will often arrive at the store already sick. Foolishly, I went ahead and bought some neon tetras to add to my tank at home. The fish that I got from Petco had a more pale red spot on the tails than the ones I'd gotten from Walmart for whatever reason (I assumed it was age or different nutrition), and by this difference I was able to tell that the fish I got from Petco were the ones who were dying one by one. I had made my purchases a week ago Sunday, and by Wednesday all the tetras from the store were dead. The betta I bought, as well as the ghost shrimp, are still fine so far. Then yesterday I found one of my older shrimp, who had been in my tank for weeks just fine with no signs of illness, also dead. Clearly they had caught whatever disease killed the others. I didn't already have antibiotics to hand, which is unfortunate, but the fact that the store knowingly buys fish from a breeder and they KNOW that they are likely to already be sick is unconscionable. I hope that the antibiotics I ordered from Amazon come in time that I don't lose any more fish, but I sure won't be darkening the door of this store again. read more

We made an appointment to have our dog groomed at Petco. I received a confirmation call the day before, but when my wife brought our dog in to be groomed she was adamantly told she had the wrong date and that it was one week later. There was no apology, and no attempt on their part to see our dog at the time he was supposed to be seen. An appointment was available at a later and much less convenient time, which we took. When I inquired about a discount for the inconvenience they caused, the groomer had a fit and said they are paid on commission and that he would be penalized for someone else's mistake unfairly. This is true but really the people being inconvenienced and given bad information were me and my wife. Definitely do not recommend on account of terrible customer service. read more

I've been bringing our 14 month old German Shepherd here for grooming & shopping. This time he came in for the delux de-shedding bath and all! The groomers are fabulous! They take there time to do things in a correct & positive fashion as to not stress out my drama queen of a pup and he always looks amazing when I pick him up. All the staff are super friendly and most of them know Charlie by name. They also price match to local stores & have a great return policy. (I learned this trying to find toys he wouldn't destroy in 5 minutes.) read more

Great place overall! From the front door all the way to the back of the store we saw staff with smiles, clean floors, and great prices! We came in to purchase a leopard gecko and found out they were half off that day! For $15 I could get a friend! So we called one of the staff that was in charge of the reptile area and he let us choose which one we wanted, gently took it out of the cage, and put it in a neat and safe transfer box. He then recommend what to feed it where to house it and how to take care of it. We picked up some of the supplies that he had recommended us and went to checkout. The line looked long when we arrived but seeing how fast the cashier went it took us no time at all. We had forgotten our membership card, but thanks to the cashier we were able to use it anyways just by looking up our phone number! We than brought our gecko home, set up his cage, and let him explore. He was a very health baby male leopard gecko. I would definitely recommend this store if you would like to purchase a pet or even just some pet supplies! read more
