My most recent contact with Nikki has been in relation to her latest litter of Vom Evolution puppies as I have been thinking about getting another dog. I completely trust Nikki, her experience and proven results. Her knowledge and experience specifically with working line german shepherd dogs and all dogs in general makes her one of the best trainers and resources in Pennsylvania. You should also know that she has won many awards, titles and competitions through her hard work and dedication to all dogs and the german shepherd breed. I am editing this to add that Nikki's training facility is spotless. It is easily one of the cleanest animal facilities I have ever been to. She takes pride in her work and it shows.

It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."

(story below) I was the third person to adopt this dog (he was 10 days from his first birthday when I adopted him) He is currently 86lbs black and brown brindle, Great Dane, Lab, Pit bull. My dog is hyper head strong and just plain strong. When I got him he listened to nothing, no commands were ever taught to him. My hands were constantly bleeding because he pulled that bad when I walked him. My arms were complete bruises, not just a few you could not see skin color from my wrists to above my elbows, because that's what he was taught before me that is just how he played. Jump and grab arm with teeth, and try to wrestle. I also ended up with my wrist sprained, twice. I literally could not put up with it much longer and I had been told by the kennel I adopted him if this didn't work and he came back he would be put down. Most of my friends and family could not understand my devotion to keeping this dog and keeping him alive. I had offers from them to take him back to the shelter if I couldn't handle the hand over. I kept telling them no and I am very glad that that was my decision. I work in the Plains area and when I saw the sign go up for Pawsitive Pup I got very excited. I went in, talked to Paul and explained the above situation. Paul told me that there would be a training class starting the following week and I signed up right then. He also gave me a few things to try with my dog in the mean time to help me out (at no charge, I'm not kidding when I tell you he cares about you and your pets). I have had my dog (Ranger) in here weekly since the doors of Pawsitive Pup opened. Ranger graduated his 6 week Pawsitive Pup Basic Obedience Training last night and I am amazed at his improvement! He sits, comes when called, lays down, stays all on command! (well mostly we are still working on this he listens about 85% of the time now, where before it was 0% of the time) Ranger is so much calmer now and I am extremely happy to say my arms look like arms again! We are very disappointed with our experience boarding our dog this weekend…read more When I dropped my dog off on Friday, I was filling out the paperwork while she stayed in the car because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bring her in yet. The employee told me to go get her and finish the paperwork afterward. As soon as I brought her inside, they immediately took her to the back. I had to ask if I could at least say goodbye first. As soon as they opened the door, Luna heard all the dogs barking, got scared, started crying, and tried running back to me. Leaving your dog is already emotional and that made it even harder. While filling out the paperwork, I noticed there wasn't a section for allergies. I asked if the dogs are ever given anything besides what owners provide because of an allergy and said the only time "allergies matter" is if it is a food allergy. I said yes she is allergic to chicken. I was told they would make a note of it. The paperwork did ask how much and how often she eats. I clearly wrote one heaping scoop every 6-8 hours. When the employee reviewed it with me, she asked "So Luna eats twice a day?" I corrected her and told her she eats three times a day, and she said okay. However, when we picked Luna up, I noticed an envelope with her information said "feed twice a day," which was concerning. When we arrived to pick Luna up, we were first told we still owed money even though we had already prepaid. Then we were told she had stayed three nights instead of two. We had to explain that she was dropped off Friday and picked up Sunday, so she was only there for two nights. When we got Luna's belongings back, her bed, toys, and food container smelled strongly of urine. We were told they had been sitting outside of the door and another dog must have had an accident on them. It was very upsetting to bring home her belongings in that condition. After we got home, we realized her food feeder was missing. Obviously we take responsibility because we forgot, but we were upset with her stuff having urine all over it and making sure nothing was still wet so we can at least bring her stuff to the car and wash it. When we called, we were first told they didn't have it because they aren't supposed to take personal feeders. Then we were told the employee who checked her in wasn't there and they would have to ask her the next day. After that, we were told that they do have it. She is a 75 pound work line German Shepherd. She eats fast, so she has a slow feeder, and it is also lifted off the ground so it is better for her digestion. We have to go pick up her feeder tomorrow. We understand that mistakes can happen, but there were simply too many issues during one stay. Between the drop off, the incorrect feeding instructions, the billing mistake, Luna's belongings being covered in urine, and the missing feeder, we left feeling very disappointed. Our pets are family, and when we're paying someone to care of them, we expect better communication, organization, and attention to detail. Sadly, this experience did not meet those expectations.
