Don't buy your fish here. My Dalmatian Molly quickly started showing signs of the ick after purchasing him, gave it to my other fish, then died after 7 days having him. Also when I came on Monday 2/24 was initially told that they couldn't do fish sales due to being busy, that they were only doing online fish orders. They weren't busy. She ended up helping me. Despite the receipt saying that animals have a 14 day guarantee, they told me that I was past the 3 day return policy for fish which is not written anywhere on my receipt. I was told when I purchased them I had 2 weeks, like PetSmart actually does and follows through with. Fish are less than $5 but they couldnt let me exchange my dead fish for one that was alive. Was told they couldn't do anything because I brought the fish in its water and would need a separate sample of the water. I had my water tested three days ago at petsmart and there were no issues. She said if my results were inconclusive there's nothing she could do, then when I told her I got him a week ago she said I was out of the return window. Well turns out it was a waste to sign up for rewards for a company like this. My first purchase from them ever dies and gives my other fish the ick. Not worth the risk of getting all your other fish sick. read more

Great store! Very clean and well supplied. This was add our first visit and we were very impressed. Every employee we saw asked if they could help us. We ended up working with Alex and she was great. Friendly, knowledgeable and she knew the stocked items. We will seek her out again for more good advice. The dog section is huge. We were there for cat products and there were many. I've gone two times for a pickup, and had a problem each time. Yesterday, I received an email that my order was ready. Today, waited for 15 minutes, called to find out there was only one person who couldn't leave the register....then, the person who finally came out said the order had t been pulled yet. Emma at the store on Hendersonville road was very professional and helpful. I see a couple of reviews below that aren't so great and I understand that it's because some fools who don't believe in science but actually in fairy tales are big mad that people still wear masks and that they're waited on and treated like humans but that has nothing to do with the service or quality of product in the store. I went in today for the first time, with my little Jack Russell mix dog, Buddy. He had just been to the vet. We live about 45 minutes away, but I remembered seeing the store. It was a very nice store with lots to offer. I mainly went to get a Seresto collar for Buddy but got him some toys also. I saw freeze dried food which I will definitely go back and get some for my fur baby. The staff were very helpful and friendly as well. You have an awesome shop guys! When you give them way omit personal information the they should ever need to Join, they have excuses as to why what you are buying doesn't qualify for sale. I went here today for some dog food instead of ordering from Amazon or Chewy, because I'm trying to support local/smaller businesses, but I was disappointed to find 2 of the 3 employees not wearing masks when I entered. All three were at the checkout counters, saw me enter, and they all completely ignored me (and did not put on masks). I almost left at this point, but decided to just get my stuff and get out of there. I got my dog food and stood about 10 feet from the checkout, waiting for them to notice and put their masks on. The two mask-less employees were leaning over the counter chatting and looking at their phones. Finally one of them (no mask at all) left, and other (mask around neck) asked if I was ready to check out. I asked this person to put on their mask, and they did. They were very terse throughout my checkout, though. I won't be returning. read more

I went there and was happy to know that they had Guinea Pig food and had a live Guinea Pig. I would of gotten it but I didn't have enough money for it. The only complaint is that it is mostly a dog and cat store but at least they had small animals and another is that hopefully they will get another Guinea pig for the only one at the store. -Speedy read more

I love this place. I love that it's locally owned. They have a great selection of healthy dog foods with great ingredients. The employees are all incredibly helpful and full of useful information. I live in Charlotte now, but continue to buy my pet food and toys here in Asheville because I haven't found this kind of selection in my own city. The girl that works the register during the day sat and talked with her coworker about tattoos and piercings while I stood at the register waiting to be checked out. When she got to her station she didn't say a word to me except "You want a bag?" I politely responded that I didn't need one and that was the only conversation we had. She didn't even offer me a receipt after she rang me up. She didn't say bye, or have a nice day, absolutely nothing. I've dealt with her before and she always seems like it's annoying to have to stop her conversation in order to do her job. Very off-putting and I won't be back. read more

Wish I could give this place ZERO stars instead of one. I just bought a new kitten and needed to buy some essentials for her. The store was basically empty and looked dirty. The fish tanks were especially disgusting and I felt bad for the poor fish. The employees were all chatting in the front and when I went to ask if they had a specific item in stock, the employees completely ignored me and continued with their conversation. I even tried to interrupt by saying "excuse me" but they just looked at me and continued to talk. Finally I got in front of them and just asked my question, to which the male employee flatly told me with an annoyed expression "whatever we have is what we have." Then a few female employees made a disgusted face and said "ewww don't touch that kitten" to a lady that asked to pet my kitten. After I left the store I sat in my car getting everything settled, a couple of the employees from the store came out and sat in their car making rude gestures directly at my car. The employees are just horribly unprofessional and rude. Not an environment I plan on spending my money at ever again. read more

Don't ever buy fish from this store. I'm a 20 year tank keeper with very healthy fish. Every fish I have ever bough from this store has died almost immediately. They assured me they had s two day guarantee on all fish, so I purchased two fish. One died the next morning. I brought the fish back in the same day and the manager asked me for a water sample. I had the fish in water but the manager said it was too old. He insisted that for a refund, I had to go back home and bring him a water sample. I spend close to 200 per month on pet supplies. This manager refused to refund me for a three dollar fish and lost my business indefinitely. This is just bad business. Don't go here. And shame on you guys for misleading customers on your refund policy. read more

Store wasn't at all busy when I was there, yet no one was manning the register. I finally knocked on the window of the little office just inside the front door, where I saw a female employee, and motioned to her that I wanted to check out. She came out, but clearly wasn't happy that I had disturbed her. When I got out to my car, I realized I had accidentally purchased the wrong size Greenies (Petite instead of Tiny), so went back in to make the swap-out. A different female employee was at the register now and I told her what I wanted to do. She said she'd have to get a manager (even though I was making an even swap and it only been a minute since I made the purchase!). A bearded fellow came to handle it and so I explained to him what I was wanting to do (I had the replacement item already on the counter). He said, "No problem," and then pulled out a form for me to fill out, which asked for name, address, phone number, and email address. I looked at it, wrote down my name, and then said, "No, I'm not going to fill out all of this" to which he said, "It's company policy." I responded, "I don't want to give the company all of this personal information." He said, "We have to have it." I said, "I am not giving you my address, phone number, or email address. I understand it's policy and not up to you, but I'm just not doing it. If you have to have something on the form, then you fill it out with anything you want." He continued to insist I fill out the form. I refused, and I took the original purchase out of the bag and put the replacement in the bag and headed for the door. As I exited, I heard him say, "Thanks for making my day!" This was not good customer service. If a customer doesn't wish to give that information, then the employee should accept that and move on with the transaction. This "swap" should have taken less than 1 minute and shouldn't have been such a ordeal. I understand that they need to keep track of inventory, but do that on THEIR time, not the customer's. Because of this marketing "ploy" (getting customer's name, address, email address, and phone number so that they can add you to their mail and email lists), and the unpleasant treatment I received from both employees I dealt with, I will never shop here again. read more

This is the only store selling Friskies canned cat food that I can afford to shop at. Their prices are lower than the sales prices at other stores. Elsewhere the price has gone up $.25 a can in the last 7 months. Thanks. Very helpful employees in every aisle. read more
