Dr. Prabhakar is an exceptional veterinarian and surgeon who has earned our family's trust through years of caring for the dogs we love like family. He has been part of our family's dog care journey for many years. Dr. Prabhakar has cared for 9 of our canines throughout the years. Two have since passed, three were adopted, and we are now a family of four Goldendoodles. Every single one of them has been treated with care, respect, and genuine attention. We are happy to be in Pet Pawz-itive in Simi Valley. Place is sanitary, has a large waiting room and a private space for each pet. We feel welcome and not rushed. This review was written carefully by me because I truly appreciate the work they do. My 7-year-old doodle, Henry, recently had a thorough checkup and underwent surgery performed by Dr. Prabhakar. Everything was well discussed ahead of time, and the plan of care was clear and on point. Dr. P does what he says he will do, and he performs with diligence, compassion, and respect. When he informed me that he's the new owner of this clinic, I didn't mind commuting the distance to see him. He goes above & beyond to help. He has excellent expertise & customer service. My brown Labrador had cysts on her eyes. Surgery was necessary. Holly hates veterinarians and fights any kind of medical care. I've had other veterinarians, tapo Street, that failed to examine Holly and still charged me for the visit. Pet positive was able to sedate her perform the surgery which went spectacularly, she is now a happy dog. They were then able to remove her sutures a week later without any issue. Bella has struggled with recurring ear infections and needs regular allergy injections, so we've had plenty of experience with veterinary offices over the years. This is by far the best one we've found. Dr. Schneider and staff are always kind, patient, and gentle with her. Pet Pawz-itive & Shanon, the vet tech, really helped me at a horrible time in my life. My 17 year old poodle, Chucky, was ready to go meet his wife, Peaches, at the Rainbow Bridge. One of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. I was not ready to let him go, but he was ready to go. Shannon was AMAZING! Her comforting words and actions made a world of difference. Chucky's wife, Peaches, passed away last year in her sleep at 17 years old. The company I used for her cremation forgot to take a paw print impression. I'm still devastated about it. My original review of this place: I Should have trusted my gut instinct with taking the puppy to my normal vet for his first shots and microchip. This place was extremely horrific. I should have known walking in. The decor looked like a 50's diner ala Las Vegas. Charged us $89 for nothing. I declined services and they kept my puppy locked in a room hostage until I paid! I felt paranoid of what they could be doing to him or already done!? They put us in a room with cameras probably recording us. Took my puppy in the back. Gave us an Estimate for over $200 to do his shots and a bunch of unnecessary stuff and said I couldn't be there with him or witness the shots. The vet knew I was hesitant as she left the room slamming the door after telling me how unfortunate it was my trust issues... And proceeded to tell me she didn't have to work there & she doesn't even get paid that much and how she could have been a lawyer. Not mentioning that she works there for her love of animals!!?? Unbelievable. When I went to pay i asked that my puppy be brought to us before I pay. They refused. They said I must pay before they can release him!!! After paying they walkie talkied the back to bring him. Also, the tech told me how she yanked on his back legs... For hip dysplasia and she wasn't sure if it was because he was a puppy and being squirmy or if he has possible future hip problems. That he seemed uncomfortable with pulling on his back legs compared to the front and then started diving into this "preventive care" and dog insurance and that my puppy will possibly have hip problems and that I should look into surgery before it would become an issue. I beg anyone who reads this to avoid this place!! It was the worst experience I've ever had with an animal clinic. Very unprofessional and overall horrible. I ask that the business please not respond to my review with your mumbo jombo bullcrap trying to save your own ass with your generic response!! It's absolutely disrespectful. I have been taking my two senior cats to dr v. In shadow hills for two years. From day one he was so kind and attentive. He always did all procedures in the room because i was very anxious about having my cats taken to the back. He never rushed me and never had me doing s million unnecessary tests. I tell all my friends he is a miracle worker. Sadly six months ago my mama cat passed away unexpectedly his entire staff and he himself were so supportive. I am 70 years old and have had 3 veterinarians since I was 9 years old. My childhood vet, Dr. Bartlett opened his own hospital when I was in my 20s and worked alone there for many years. As he became older he took Dr. Suman Prabhakar into the practice and when he retired Dr. Bartlett told me to stay with Dr. Suman. For over 30 years from then Dr. Suman was my vet until he recently retired and sold the practice. I never went back. I was alone with my animals and no vet. Every morning for 2 weeks after that when I opened my eyes the tears ran down my face. A friend told me about Pet Pawz-itive and that Dr. Suman's nephew, Dr. Varun Prabhakar, worked there. I did not realize that I had met Dr. Varun some 15 years earlier when Dr. Suman had invited me to an event to hear Dr. Suman sing. At the dinner that night the young nephew sat next to me and was so kind to me. I could not remember his face but I can still feel the kindness from that night. When I went to Pet-Pawz-itive for the first time Dr. Varun treated me with the same kindness he had treated me with some 15 years prior and he remembered me and that night at the dinner. Dr. Varun I learned is the new owner of Pet Pawz-itive. He is a kind, very through vet. He takes his time with you and gives detailed, thorough explanations. I have paralyzed dogs and his uncle and I learned how to handle them together. I have had paralyzed wheelchair dogs for over 20 years. Dr. Varun just like his uncle treats my special needs dog well and with kindness. The staff are wonderful and kind as well. Someone always calls the day after a visit to Pet-Pawz-itive to make sure that the dog is doing well. I am always encouraged to call if there is an issue or if I have any questions or concerns. I will be staying at Pet-Pawz-itive and it is well worth the drive to get there. I have a new veterinary clinic home where my dogs and I are happy and valued. This practice is incompetent. Avoid and see other reviews. They have recommended very unnecessary, extremely costly, and distressing procedures to my sick pet for services they don't have the experience or skill to understand or diagnose. Dr. Concepcion has never provided a conclusive diagnosis and only knows how to defer treatment, she and her colleagues can only guess and never seem to give direct answers. This practice does not care about the well-being of animals and the distress these procedures can cause to them. Waste of time and money. It's time to change vets. read more

Just got a new puppy and she needed her 10 week old shots. Walk in visit exam if it's your first time is 69 bucks. Add shots snd a fecal exam about 165.00 total. Dr Concepcion was nice. I didn't feel rushed and the place was clean. Friday night is their least busiest time, so if you need a walk in visit this is the night to come. All in all we had a pretty good experience snd be back in three more weeks for more shots. read more

I have 4 Huskies and One of them tore the skin on his neck bad enough to get a staple. We love our dogs and we have tried a few places. Pet Pawz - Itive has a better approach than others. They explained what they need to be able to help our Boy Butch. I find it helpful also that they try and offer preventable services like dewormer and flea and tick. But the bottom line is, your not forced or pressured. My butch needed to be ​sedated because he would not allow nobody to touch him. Everything was taken care of Professionally. We put a Cone on him for 12 days and it healed with no issues. I highly recommend Pet Pawz-itive. read more

I just now saw the response from the vet regarding my review... Funny that they contradict themselves in stating they weren't able to treat or examine my dog because she was trying to bite myself, my husband and the vet, but then goes onto explain that I had to hold my dog for her to get a swab of her ear... she got one part right with me having to hold and restrain my dog, and yes I refused a muzzle that my husband suggested because the vet was uneasy and intimidated by my dog. Which I understand being intimidated by a puppy who's trying to jump away and turning their head quickly. But my dog never once bit me, the vet or my husband, nor did she try to! If she would have bit anyone of us, it would have been a completely different situation, I guarantee that! But yes the vet prescribed the medication stated above, but for different reasons which is why the prednisone was a very low dose to see if it helped with the allergies the vet claimed she knew she had. She didn't prescribe a dose that would help in lowering the inflammation and swelling. Although I stated to the vet I can do anything with my dog it was in regards to keeping her calm, just another example of how this place twists things to try and benefit themselves. Which is ok, anyone who visits there will see very clearly for themselves, the type of place this is. Oh and I took my pup to conejo vet and they treated her ear infection, take pictures of her ear and loved on her to calm her anxiety. I wasn't allowed to go back with her there either, but yet they managed to care for her just fine and she was giving the assistant kisses and stuck by her side. Which leaves the real question being what the hell do they do to the animals at pet-pawsitive once out of the owners site of view???? read more

After they charge you with bull *%# , stuff you didn't even come in for and maybe can't even afford it they don't care, they still charge you that amount. They have cameras everywhere in your face and while you sit there wondering what they are doing to your dog . Afterwards you go to pay thinking your dog will be there waiting for you but NOPE!!!! THEY KEEP YOUR DOG UNTIL YOU PAY! I do not recommend Pet Pawz! I took my elderly chihuahua in for a check up I was told he needed several teeth extracted after labs and being told he would be fine for surgery. I had second thoughts I was going to get a second opinion but Pet Pawz held my deposit over my head and said I would lose the money. We went through with the extraction my dog was the last dog to be treated so he sat in a cage for several hours probably causing him stress. Within minutes of the extraction I get a call that my dog did not survive. I was so hurt and devastated and angry. I was even more upset that my deposit was held over my head for the second opinion . When I asked for my deposit back it was never returned. I did not allow them to cremate my dog either when they offered at a cost. read more
