Dr. Villamil and the entire team have been nothing short of extraordinary. When my beloved dog Scrappy was diagnosed and given just six months to live, I was devastated. But thanks to Dr. Villamil's expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Scrappy is still with me--happy, thriving, and full of life--2.5 years later. Every visit has been met with kindness, patience, and genuine empathy. Dr. Villamil always takes the time to answer my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully, and the staff consistently go above and beyond to make us feel supported and cared for. I truly believe Scrappy's continued joy and health are a testament to the incredible care he's received. I can't recommend Dr. Villamil and their team highly enough. They've given me more time with my cutie pie, and for that, I'm forever grateful. read more

My Papillon, Daisy who is 20 was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma cancer following a routine dental cleaning. She has zero symptoms of anything being wrong. My vet and others I had spoken to highly recommended Pet Cancer Group. I was impressed by what I saw on their web site and wanted to get a knowledgeable oncologist to guide her treatment and manage her condition. At her age I am realistic about her treatment options and prognosis, I felt confident that I had found just the place (the Cooper City clinic). For the first time, I didn't feel powerless about doing something for my fur baby as I filled out the online form to request an appointment. I have been scouring the internet researching HSN and alternate treatments. After hearing nothing for several days, I called them to request an appointment. The person who answered the phone was a little abrupt with me and put me on hold. She quickly returned and said their oncologist says, "the treatment for this cancer is radiation, which we don't do so, you have to go to a radiation clinic." She did send me a list of three. Animal Cancer Care Clinic was on the list. I visited their site and submitted a form for an appointment. Twenty minutes later I was called by their oncologist, Christine who was kind and compassionate, assuring me we'd find the appropriate treatment for Daisy. For the first time in two agonizing weeks, I have I found an oncologist who will discuss treatment and symptom management options with me. I left 1 stars because they at least emailed me a list of radiation clinics, and I was able to find an oncologist who will see me. read more

Dr Villamil is the most caring and compassionate Dr I've ever met. He guided us step by step with our dear Yorkie's cancer treatment. He took us by the hand in this painful journey and did everything on his power to help my Fifi. As painful as it was this Dr made us feel that there was hope. Fifi ia no longer with us but she was treated with the most professional caring and love. Thank you Dr Villamil read more

Our fur son Bruce was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma in February. We met with Dr Villamil and chose to begin chemotherapy based on the prognosis. Dr Villamil gave us hope of "80% remission with 4-5 years of life after treatment". We started chemotherapy in April. In August, the day of Bruce's last chemo treatment, we called to inform them that Bruce had taken a sudden and drastic decline and was being seen as an emergency at his vet. I called Dr Villamil to advise them of the situation and all they said to me was "I'll let the doctor know". No other words. We had to euthanize our sweet boy Bruce the next day. We were heartbroken. It's been almost 3 months since and they have never contacted me since about Bruce, his status or if we were even coming back, to reschedule, etc. They have never reached out to us or followed up. We lost our fur baby 4 months unexpectedly after beginning treatment. We knew that is a risk you take with chemo treatment. But the absolute lack of compassion, sympathy, care, follow-up is very upsetting. You feel like a dollar sign and just a number. To chose to do chemo and put your pet through this is extremely difficult, emotionally and financially. It's a huge commitment. We feel let down and disappointed by this office. They provided medical care but that's about it. If you're looking for compassion and support, sympathy, we did not find it here. read more

Let's face it, no one wants to think about the need to have their beloved four legged friend treated for cancer. Fortunately, there is Dr. Villamil and the Pet Cancer Group. After our (almost) 10 year old Havanese had a malignant tumor and anal gland removed, our regular vet referred us to Dr. Villamil's practice for staging and treatment. We were told up front what the consultation was . On the day of the appointment with the required Covid 19 protocol with veterinarians, we called once we arrived . The vet tech then called me to more specifics on our little pup and then informed us he would come out to get him. Once inside, we were told approximately how long it would take and that the doctor would call us after he examined him. The doctor called and explained in detail what he saw in his exam and recommended chemo. He also took the time to answer any questions and address any concerns that I had. While on the phone, he me a quote for the cost of the treatments and I decided to start that day since the cancer is an aggressive form. I was also provided with various meds in the event that our pup had any vomiting or gastrointestinal issues as well as an NSAID to give daily. All in all so far, everything is very professional and I was pleased that a exam report was also emailed to me after the appointment. The only thing that I would suggest, it that you don't complete the request for consultation with the button on this page. The reason for this is that there isn't really a category to click for this sort of consultation. I click exam and wrote the reason for the appointment in the notes only to have a clerk write they don't make appointments for the reason I checked. I then called the number only to be told that the notes are not always read. Do make sure you call for the appointment and not fill out the form here. read more

Our 8yo Brazilian Mastiff was diagnosed with sarcoma last November. She went on to have surgery to remove it, and even though it was a very successful surgery the results came back as a very aggressive and likely to reoccur type of sarcoma. The surgeon suggested we see an oncologist. We've been taking her to see Dr. Villamil since January, and she has been on Chemotherapy since then. We are extremely happy with the care he has provided. We always get calls to she how she is doing and if we have any concerns. It is a terrible experience to go through, but we feel confident and at ease putting her health in Dr. Villamil's hands. She is still cancer free and progressively weaning off the chemotherapy. read more

We just had our first visit today for our sweet 11 yr old chihuahua Basil who was sadly just diagnosed with melanoma by our primary veterinarian. Being devastated with the terminal diagnosis we frantically researched the best oncologist we could find for Basil and were very impressed with the Pet Cancer Care Group reviews and Dr. Villamil's credentials. Our visit was good considering the inevitable outcome we are facing. We were greeted today by the doctor's assistant Daryl (sp?) who impressed us with his knowledge of Basil's recent medical history and surgery. We then met with Dr. Villamil and he was so kind to answer all of our questions, some being answered twice as we tried to wrap our heads around all this. Anyway, we felt very comfortable with Dr. Villamil even under these circumstances. He was clearly experienced, knowledgeable and had wonderful bedside manners. We couldn't have a better doctor to support us in this journey for our little one and for us. read more

When I found out my Scottie, McTavish, had cancer, I called Pet Cancer Group in tears and asked for an appointment; they had nothing available, but squeezed us in a few days later. Months into treatment I'm still in awe of their endless compassion and commitment to treat my McTavish! Dr. Villamil and his staff are so wonderful! You can tell everyone here loves animals, and take pride in their work! In a world where everything is rushed, the staff here take their time to make sure your pet is well taken care of and comfortable. I would recommend Pet Cancer Group one-billion percent!!! I highly rate Pet Cancer Group! Dr. Villamil showed caring and compassion from my first e-mail to him. he made time to get my Simba in to see him as soon as he could. Simba has had a great experience, staff is caring and experienced and my fur baby is doing well with his treatment plan. Simba is a 15 pd. Ragdoll cat and he does not usually like to go to the vet, but he is fine going to see Dr. Villamil. Even though I was told that the situation was dire (from another vet), Simba is proving that hope and good care can really make a difference. Thank you all! read more

Our beloved Saffie, part beast, part Cane Corso, all lady, came down the wrong side of a cancer diagnosis; Subcutaneous Osteosarcoma is no joke! After a massive surgery to remove the tennis ball-sized tumor (grew to that size in three weeks!) she was put under the careful care of Dr. Villamil and the Pet Cancer Group. After months of chemo, she kicked the first cancer in the teeth. Sadly, it metastasized to the lungs. Going into our third month of treatment, Saffie and Dr. Villamil have successfully kept the lung cancer at bay. In fact, it has begun to recede! Dr Villamil and staff are all extremely kind and treat Saffie as though she's part of their own family, and for that, we'll be forever grateful. The extra time they have provided Saffie on this earth is divine. Thank you! Highly recommend if you find yourself in a similarly unfortunate situation. read more

First of all there is no Pet Cancer Group. It's just one doctor, Doctor Armando Villamil. Also, it is kind of depressing to see the name Pet Cancer Group on every call and text. As if you needed any reminders that your pet has cancer. You would think they could've come up with another name. Nonetheless, we bought our Golden Retriever to see Dr. Villamil after he had already been diagnosed with Lymphoma. The doctor gave him the Wisconsin protocol, which is apparently an older protocol for dogs with cancer. It went well at first, but after the third treatment our dog nearly died from the medicine. He had 105 degree fever and survived at another vet facility only due to emergency IV's and $1,500 in treatment. After that it was all downhill for our dog. He had pain in his belly every time he would lie down and never regained himself. The next time we saw Dr. Villamil he acted like it was business as usual. We told him we were going away for a week's vacation. He never told us our dog was at death's door, never told us his cancer had spread to his abdomen, never said he was in critical condition. Had he even remotely said any of these things we would have cancelled our trip immediately. Two weeks later, we received a call from the pet sitter that our beloved dog wasn't eating and was hardly moving. He was so bad that he had to be taken to a vet's office on a stretcher. The vet called up Dr. Villamil and recommended putting him down. Apparently, the cancer had spread to our dog's abdomen (he was in liver failure) and Dr. Villamil was unaware and never informed us of this. One might think the doctor would have called us up and said he was sorry for our loss or even sent a card, as our regular vet did, but he didn't lift a finger. This is especially troubling since he botched our dog's diagnosis and didn't realize the cancer was as bad as it was. Not only did Dr. Villamil not even call us or send condolences, his office called a week later to tell us we had an appt. This was a week after our dog died which the doctor knew about. Again, not a call from the doctor or anything from the office. This is the kind of lousy service one would expect from a huge vet factory, like Coral Springs Animal Hospital or Calusa, not a one-man band, very disappointing! read more

I've waited some time to write this because it's been hard recently. I brought Shadow in for chemo after a cytology result of histiocytic sarcoma in the lungs. It was fairly well progressed but localized. The oncologist recommended we start CCNU after performing some tests. I'll keep this short as this is meant to guide those of you in the hard time I had to go through as well in making a good decision. He began breathing better for a few days after paired with Prednisone (20mg) and Lasix. After a week he was lethargic, had a rough time walking, didn't pee on his own because he never pees in the house, etc. I called the oncologist for recommendations and he said to take him to our regular vet and do bloodwork. His liver enzymes came back very high (about 5x Normal levels). I called pet cancer group to ask if I can bring by the results hoping to resolve this, reception said doctor was busy and to just email them or they would call the vet to ask for them. I let it be considering that I had gotten liver support and medicine from our vet. Our boy's journey ended on March 4th, only a week and a half after starting chemo and 2 days after that call. They never called back to ask about my beloved little brother who I was raised with. Please use this experience to better your boy/girls life. My boy always had more spirit than his body could handle, he was incredibly tough. The weakness and pain in his last moments were devastating to watch, we had to make the decision. You will always be loved and for as long as I walk on this earth so will you, Shadow I still take our night walks, I'm only physically alone. read more

Hamilton received chemo after surgery on his leg with Dr Villamil and has done extremely well for nearly 2 years. Dr Villamil has kept watch for changes and growth on his skin lesions with sequential visits and so far Hamilton is doing great . I am writing to let people know about Dr. Villamil and the Pet cancer group, i see the glowing reviews and i wish i could say the same for my experience ,with my beloved dog Xena. She had liver cancer (hepatic hemangiosarcoma) not good ,but i thought i could at least extend her life a few months more , i was quoted 8 months. My nightmare started after chemo #4 (of 6) to make a long sad story short ,i was told my baby was doing very well ! All labs were NORMAL ! But in truth my poor girl was in serious trouble being severely anemic a side effect from Doxorubicin chemo drug. Which i was told couldnt happen, wrong again. She collapsed on my bathroom floor 24 hours after the chemo, which she shouldnt have ,due to her severe anemia but Dr. Villamil ignored the labs and told me all labs were within NORMAL limits .She should have had a blood transfusion that day than instead of giving her more chemo drugs that werent working for the cancer she had anyway. As an ER i rushed her to get that blood transfusion she needed so badly hem 3.2 hct 9.5 very severe!!( I am nurse ),had i known the severity of my Xenie , i never would have continued the #4 chemo tx, that day this was (9/14/17) .Im very, very upset being lied to from a professional . My poor girl could not recover from such a blow and i had to prematurely put her to sleep, i understand the cancer would have taken her life, but i wasnt prepared for her to go that way and so soon. Please ask questions and more questions, my Xena was like my child and im so sorry i trusted Dr. Villamil with my precious dogs life, as its too late now. I did tell Pet Cancer Group that i wasnt going to give a good review,he was notified my mail . P.S. I was reimbursed for the #4 chemo tx, but that didnt help me. read more

When our cat Little Girl was diagnosed with Lymphoma we knew we had to do whatever it takes to help her. We immediately sought care and treatment from Pet Cancer Group in Fort Lauderdale. From the moment we met Dr. Villamil, Darryl, and Alicia we knew we had put our baby in the right hands. While we knew that she would never be cured, we hoped for more time and that is what we got. The care and love they showed our Little Girl and us was beyond what I would have ever expected. I highly recommend! read more
