This is not the work of a talented empathetic thoughtful Attorney. I found Terry to be very unprofessional, almost abusive towards me or any suggestion I made. My ex wanted a plane ticket to her country of origin, I kept telling him to put in the final draft that it should be in economy class to save me money, he would ignore me or bully me into whatever he thought? It just didn't make sense to me, here I'm paying him $300 per hour just to have him badger or ignore me? Another thing that bothered me was his billing. $1000 to review my tax returns and when I told my accountant what he charged me, he laughed and said, well it took me 17 minutes to do your taxes, that really doesn't equate? Be ready for bills over $2000 per month and I thought they were trying to delay things on purpose so they could run out bills for longer terms. In my opinion, Terry is kind of Chintzy, taking on more & more cases and he doesn't hire more staff when I mentioned this, I wouldn't get receipts for bills I paid, nor did I receive balances so I knew where I stood regarding my bills, this was scary & frustrating? Once I couldn't afford his outlandish billing methods, they quit talking to me whenever I called them. If you don't pay your monthly bill you will be put at the bottom of their pile or forgotten, you are just a number to them, and the number is by check or cash. I have owned a business in Mount Shasta for 30 years, even own the web site for the town. I highly suggest you find another attorney, no one deserves what I just went through in the last two years with Terry Taforo and his assistant Renae. Their attitudes and charges are not in line for the common working man in the Mount Shasta area, find out how many cases he's handling before you put down a retainer, ask in depth questions, make sure Terry Taforo is really for you or you might be sorry. It's your monthly bill, it's your life. Family Law in Yreka is very helpful, I found out I never needed a family attorney in the end. Don't be afraid of Siskiyou County judges, you can represent yourself and save thousands. In my case it proved to be way better. One of the things I think Terry & Renae should do to make their business better is give the client a detailed letter explaining what to expect in their case and what they will eventually need from me. I was given 3 days notice for a settlement hearing to get an audited P&L for my business. When I contacted my accountant, he had Covid and couldn't do it with that short of notice, the judge extended the hearing another year and it caused me extreme depression and stress I can never get back. In business or in life, you're either getting better or getting worse. Terry and Renae's communication skills need a lot of work or they need more staff in that little office for the amount of caseload they are taking on, it shows. You can't even talk to Terry face to face unless you were in court, simply unacceptable by today's standard practice. My next step is to contact the B.A.R and file a formal complaint for unprofessional conduct, they are just overwhelmed, luckily I have local help. I'm not saying Terry Taforo Law may not be right for you, I'm saying, I should have asked more questions in the interviewing process and looked into Family Law up in Yreka before working with this firm to represent me. It's sad that someone like Terry Taforo lives in our town, the low spark high-heeled boy in my opinion. Good luck and I'm sorry for what you are facing, dig deep and do your homework, be ready for extraordinary bills or contact Family Law at the Yreka Courthouse.
