I was in desperate need of an overall trim and my regular gal was out of the country so after reading the great reviews, I chose to make an appointment at this salon and I was assigned Leigha. Rate was $65, which is more than I'm used to paying but I agreed. I started to worry during the shampooing, her method was to very lightly scrub and was the weakest shampoo scrub I've truly ever had. I explained how I normally wear and like my hair, including my sideburns, and she started to cut. Afterwards she blow dried it but left it looking super flat and just awful! I asked her if she was going to use the curling iron on me and I was shocked to hear that would cost $18 extra. I declined and even tho I had planned to meet friends for lunch directly afterwards, there was no way I could go anywhere looking the way I did. I had to run back home and scramble to do what I could to make my hair look presentable. That was when I noticed my sideburns and neck area were not even and sloppily cut. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience here and for $65 expected more skill and professionalism. I will not return. read more

The owner, Schalan, is extremely professional and consistently goes above and beyond what is necessary. For example , extra long scalp massages and even after coloring and blowing out my hair she thought my hair would look better with some layering. So she texturized my hair at no extra charge! I discovered the salon when I searched Yelp for a salon that would allow for online booking, and had appointments available for Saturday, and Personal Touch showed up and was close to me! Gabriella did my color Saturday, and while doing my color she was adamant and incredibly convincing about how beneficial the Brazilian would be for my hair. I am very Rapunzel when it comes to my hair! I love long hair! I unfortunately had damaged it quite a bit with box coloring. I had heard about Brazilian many times, but no one explained the extreme benefits of the service and how it truly rebuilds and renews your hair! It is true! I am beyond pleased with the results! My hair literally feels and looks like it did when I was in my teens and 20s - ie pre-coloring and chemical treatments! I am over the moon pleased and feel Rapunzel worthy again!!! Beyond thankful to Gabriella for convincing me to take the leap and get the Brazilian treatment! It is important to note that Gabriella is certified to provide the Original Brazilian - be sure you only go to someone that is certified and that it's the Original Brazilian product. Curly hair can be tricky, but Shaylan knows it and always gives me a perfect style-Exactly what I want every time. The salon keeps excellent records, and regardless of how long I go between cuts, they pick up right where we left off. I finally found someone who gave me the most perfect haircut at Personal Touch Salon!

3 appointments 1 Haircut 2 Color This is what I get for choosing a salon through Yelp. I had 2 color jobs with them and it was a HORRIBLE experience.I normally don't leave reviews unless it's an extremely bad experience/service. The first experience (haircut) was okay and done by Gabriella (Gabi), wasn't the cut I wanted, I even showed pictures.(BTW Congrats on your pregnancy Gabi!) After Gabi tried to correct the cut, I told her it was fine. Burnt my scalp with the blowdryer about a million times though. The 2nd and 3rd visits were a different story. The "mix" Schalan used to color my hair was watery and flung easily when not careful. The mix is supposed to be a pudding consistency, not watered down. Towards the end, I was being rushed. When the last bit of coloring was being done, Schalan put a color on my hair that was 6 shades darker than what I expected. I asked for 2 shades darker not 6. When my hair was dried to see the color the first time, found some spots of a lighter shade and the rest was dark. She asked if I wanted to put the darker shade on it and I said that's fine, just not the roots again because they were already dark. Schalan starts coloring and she starts coloring my light spots and my ROOTS! And then the wash... When I repeatedly told Schalan my scalp was sensitive, she responded with immaturity. She went the extra mile to use the spray nozzle on the highest power, after telling her yet again my scalp on the top part was sensitive, she kept spraying my top scalp! All I felt was pieces of my skin on my scalp just moving around and flapping when the water hit my scalp. Also, on Personal Touch website, they advertise if you donate your hair to Wigs For Kids "You'll receive reduced pricing or complimentary services for your donation". Please take this off the website if you cannot honor it. Overall , if I could give 0 stars I would. Is this the salon for me? No. Is this salon for some other people? Perhaps. This is only my experience and my honest review. You can't make this stuff up. From business women to business woman, set aside emotions and handle customers in a professional matter. read more

My new salon! I have been looking for "the one" for a while now and I finally found it! I'm very light blonde and it was hard to find a salon that did my color the way I wanted and didn't damage the heck out of my hair.I love this place. The owner and staff are so nice and sweet, as soon as I walked in I was greeted and offered a drink. These girls know what they are doing and take their time to get it perfect. I was in the area, had time to kill, seeing an open sign in the window I decided to get my hair cut. Schalan was very cordial and cut my hair rather quickly. She was telling me about her new salon, how she has hired a young lady who's almost licensed and how she wants to give her a chance to develop and grow, just as she herself was given a chance 5 years ago . Schalan's attitude struck me to write this review....still killing time. Sounds like her salon does every kind of service out there. Oh my hair came out great, pretty basic , but some of the salons in Austin have a hard time blending the top (longer hair) to my sides (very short) with out looking squared. Schalan is an AMAZING stylist, extremely professional, friendly and super sweet. She was extremely knowledgeable about the products she used and was able to explain exactly what she was going to do to my hair, which made me feel extremely safe in her hands! Schalan seems like a nice, sweet person. However, the salon was not clean, it needed a good vacuuming and dusting. While I almost left the salon after she walked over chunk of black hair on the floor, my real problem was the Brazilian Blowout. I left the salon with the chemicals in my hair. I was told not to sweat and to just shower and wash my hair like normal. I was in shock. I've NEVER left a salon with chemicals in my hair. She was pretty insistent that the service was over. I had to ask for a hair cut (it wasn't included). She cut my hair with the BB product still in it. I texted my previous hair technician to share the "did that just happen" moment. She called me and told me of the dangers. She instructed me to rinse my hair in the sink and not to shower to minimize the exposure to the chemicals to my body and eyes. Schalan didn't adhere to the true BB process. She may be wonderful with color but make sure you are educated before you have her do a blow out and DO NOT leave the salon with chemicals still in your hair. read more
