Hospice should ease the burden for both the person who is dying and their family; not make things…read moremore difficult. I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

I paid $1200 out of pocket, only to find out that the wheelchair was far too large for my mom's small frame. Their referral would not exchange the wheelchair for a smaller size, nor would they refund any of my money for a wheelchair my mom was unable to use. I was stuck with the entire bill of $1200 and they provided no financial assistance whatsoever I ended up donating the wheelchair to the nursing facility. The worst experience of all occurred the day my mom passed away. They delivered my mother's body to the wrong crematorium, which was located approximately 30 minutes from the correct funeral home. lNever received an apology, nor did I receive a call or a single response from them, despite my countless attempts to contact them by phone, email and text. Horrific experience!!! I wish I could give them ZERO stars

Buena Vista was recommended by her geriatric doctor at Kaiser, who told me that their care was better than that provided by her own employer. I took her word for it and scheduled my appointment with them. She was accepted quickly, and from February 2024 through September 2025, she was in their care, providing several visits to my home per week. There were some bumps in the road, which accounts for four stars instead of five (mainly due to under- or constantly revolving staffing and an original social worker who should be in an academic line of work, rather than a public-facing one), but overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend BVH to anyone in need of such care for their loved one(s). I would have been doomed without the medications and supplies provided by BVH. Having to navigate her care by myself was more difficult than I can put into words-- you never imagine having to wipe down walls that have been finger-painted by the feces of a 70-year-old, or carrying the dead weight of a 120-pound woman from a bathroom to a chair because she's forgotten how to use her legs. Her social worker (Marci) stayed with me on the phone while I vented and cried, and offered warm words of kindness. The volunteer coordinator (Kellie) gave me friendship when my world had dwindled down to nothing but centring around my mom and her constant supervision. My second volunteer, Jacky, was amazing. We formed a friendship and still text each other weekly. Unfortunately, because my mom remained on hospice for more than the typical length of time (3 months), due to her condition, she cycled through a handful of nurses, but we ended up with the nurse we liked the most, after she came back from maternity leave. Karen is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life, and she always showed what felt like genuine care and concern for my mom, as well as myself. Estephany was a godsend. I feel that the most underappreciated "angels" of hospice are without a doubt the bathing assistants. They have to put up with tantrums, screaming, crying, and general awkwardness of showering and dressing injured and elderly people who are scared, confused, and sometimes violent. She felt like a friend to me in the time she was with us, and I looked forward to her visits. She was so good with my mom. I'm starting to cry as I type this because she had to endure the same weird ramblings and repeated questions three times a week, every week for over a year, and always did so with a smile. She treated my mom like a human being, with love and respect. That is probably my biggest takeaway from my experience with Buena Vista-- they allowed my mom, who suffered through this tragic disease, to spend the last leg of her life with DIGNITY, which is in short supply for the addled and elderly, trapped in their failing bodies and minds that betray them. Thank you to everyone at BVH who helped us during this dark time. Your generosity will never be forgotten.

Figuring out how to best take care of my elderly father after he fell and broke his hip was overwhelming to say the least. Admittedly, Humble Haven was farther away from me, and my dad's doctor, than I had hoped for or planned. But a placement agent sang their praises --- and choosing Humble Haven was the best decision I ever made. Truly. The place itself is wonderful: Clean, comfy, and staffed with amazing caregivers who are truly patient and compassionate. The meals are all freshly made and tasty and nutritious. Personal taste and preferences are always accommodated. There are also very few residents so they get a lot of attention. And I am not exaggerating when I say that it really feels more like a home than just a house; More like a family than an assisted living facility. The thing that makes Humble Haven truly amazing, however, are the owners, Nicole and Albert. As I said, I was ill-prepared for everything that I've had to go through with my dad. (When something like this happens, who isn't?) Nicole, as a nurse, not only used her medical knowledge to explain things to me when my brain was spinning from all the doctors and medications and treatments --- but she truly acted as an advocate for my father, making sure he got everything he needed and deserved from Kaiser. To say she has gone above and beyond is an understatement. I don't want to take up pages and pages listing all the millions of ways she has helped me --- so I'll just say this: If you are on this Yelp page with a difficult decision to make and you are reading this because you're trying to decide if this is a place that you or a loved one should stay, whether for a short while or indefinitely ... Do it. Don't hesitate. You simply cannot get better care than at Humble Haven. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Over the years he'd been at another RCFE facility which was neither peaceful or quiet, (both things his geriatric doctor said were crucial) as well as a small memory care facility (again neither peaceful or quiet, and downright upsetting for him). Humble Haven proved to be such a blessing for both of us! This house is managed as a home and the comfort of the residents is the top priority. I was there a lot and I never felt like there was anything more important than how the residents were feeling. They are on a schedule, well fed, exercised when appropriate and given ample opportunity and conditions for quality rest/sleep. There is plenty of interaction between caregivers and residents and the owners are in-and-out a lot, interacting with residents, too. The fact that owner Nicole is a nurse is such a bonus and she was always available by phone and text. Her husband Albert is a great handyman, sometimes cook and caregiver and never afraid to work hard. I realize this review may sound too good to be true, but anyone dealing with dementia in their family is aware of how hard it is to find living accommodations that you can feel good about. Humble Haven fixed that for me. I couldn't care for my dad in my home and felt bad about that in the past. Once I moved him here, I felt good about his situation and knew I was making the best decision for him. If they have an opening and you need a special place for a loved one to thrive, this is it! Good luck and I wish you all the best!

I had many questions and often called several times a week or even a day. The staff was always completely helpful and courteous, never making me feel like I was being a pain and always getting me answers right away. They were always on top of my mother in law's needs and increased visits any time something was a concern. Beyond that, when I had concerns about her health they would send out a nurse, often within the hour, to check on her and report back to me. Nino was incredible helpful and would get back to me immediately every time I called. It was such a reassurance during a very difficult time. Jason was the nurse who would visit, often three times a week. Knowing I wanted more detailed information than most people, he would send me pictures of his reports, text me every time he visited, call when things were more complicated, and always stoped to talk when he saw me visiting, even if it wasn't his day to see her. He became a confidant and someone I felt truly comfortable asking the hard questions. He really treated my mother in law like family and always showed her respect, even when he came the day she passed to declare time of death. Without any hesitation, I would recommend Blue Butterfly to a friend. They are professional, caring, and reliable. They saved us thousands of dollars and so much stress.
