Parking in downtown LA is a nightmare as lots cost $5 per 20 minutes for small compact-car sized spots in unsafe neighborhoods overrun with homeless people. The Perishing Square lot has sketchiness as well, but there are several reasons that I choose to park here if I'm going to Downtown LA in areas south of Skid Row. (In areas north of skid row, I'd park in Little Tokyo). First, if you park here on the weekends or after 5pm on weekdays, they have a flat rate for $9. During work hours on weekdays, the rate would be around $20 if you stay longer than 2 hours ($3 per 15 min with $20 max). Second, though the area is sketchy, there is security and this is a covered lot. Even the presence of security is a step up from most of the lots in the area. It may be only as good as a car alarm; however, I'll take it. Lastly, I feel that it's pretty conveniently located to key attractions in DTLA like Grand Central Market, Jewelry District, and some of the hotels in the area. In terms of safety and convenience, DTLA is one of the worst places to park in Los Angeles; however, I think this lot is one of the best of the worst. Note: entrances to this lot can be found on 5th and 6th streets between Hill and Olive. Note: If you are intending to go to Little Tokyo, Arts District, or north of skid row, look up the Aiso parking lot. read more

The weekend price of $9 is OK. i have no comment on the weekday prices. As with many parking garages, large numbers of spaces are blocked off, possibly because this was not a weekday. The payment process is bizarre. Sure, you take a ticket at the entry gate as usual. You don't use it to exit - see below Yes, the escalators don't work and obviously never will. They are used as staircases now, which is bad because the individual steps are much bigger, making it especially tricky to use. There are locked restrooms on P1. Just hope you can find someone to open them. You supposedly need to show that you have a parking ticket. There was a "security" woman sleeping in the office nearby You take elevators up to Pershing Square, so no problems there After returning you go to machines on P1, insert the ticket and payment card to receive another card, which you are supposed to use at the exit gates. You are reminded by many signs that there are no cashiers at the gates. Well, there was a man at the gate I approached. He kept pointing (at what?) and I was eventually told to go to another gate (no reason why), which was staffed by another non-cashier. read more

Parking here on a random weekday evening was easy. There was a ton of parking and since we entered after 5PM, it was a $9 flat fee. I felt like the parking price was good, considering that it was downtown Los Angeles. Minus two stars because the escalators did not work, which was not great, especially since I have joint issues, and it smelled soooooo gross, even through a mask. I would park here again if I had to, but hopefully I won't need to come to this area again anytime soon. Also, something to keep in mind - the clearance is very low, so if you have a high profile vehicle such as a large SUV or truck, you might not be able to park here. read more

The pricing for parking seems very fair for the convenience compared to the adjacent peer competitor outside lots. Parking is great, and cheap enough where if you were thinking of using public MTA transit to get here in fear of expensive parking, fret not, although I'm all for the eco-friendly trains and buses, I'm also an advocate for safety and life conveniences. The MTA can be sketchy, usually smelling like weed or urine and a bit of an urban jungle at time where you're wise to put your cell phone away (fear of snatching) and clutching onto your personal belongings as well as avoiding eye contact. So, if you're okay with driving and picking times where traffic isn't an issue, I'd recommend coming here to park if you're going to the Central Market, especially at night. read more

My girlfriend and I had reservations to stay at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel for a family wedding, but their parking fees were outrageous! My friend discovered that this nearby parking garage was a lot cheaper! It was only $20.00 per night flat rate! We were new to the downtown LA area, and had a hard time finding this place at first, mainly because the heavy LA traffic is so distracting and caused us to circle around a few times before we noticed an entrance. Once we entered, I was relieved to be safe and sound in a protected garage. We did have a hard time figuring out what area of the lot to park because there really wasn't sufficient signage to let us know what streets we needed to walk towards to get to our hotel. Staff members were somewhat helpful, but didn't quite understand what place we needed to get to with our heavy luggage in tow. We found ourselves walking in circles and ended up climbing steep stairs of escalators that didn't work. Once we found ourselves out in the open air and hotel in the horizon, life got a little less stressful. All in all it was still worth the lower parking fees compared to the hotel rip off of $80.00 per night! read more

Decent parking lot I parked at during my stay. 5 minutes from the Freehand LA (shit hotel btw), close to many things, and overall, safe. They have 24/7 security, but I agree that the parking lot was a little eerie.... It was really quiet considering it being downtown. The escalators weren't working and very narrow, which added a layer of sketchiness into ally, but turned out to be pretty good. $20 overnight fee is competitive in the area, and given the security and well lit garage, I'd totally recommend it for overnight. No ins and outs though, and if you don't exit for 2 nights you get charged $40, and so on. It certainly beats valet parking at the hotels which cost double! Solid place read more

I have read some terrible reviews (some even by people that I am friends with here on Yelp. The parking garage is between Los Angeles Central Library and The Last Book Store and directly below Pershing Square (where they hold FREE concerts in the park from the Spring until late August... Did I mention that they are FREE? Anyway, I failed to encounter the urine smell that I expected, I felt safe during my visit since Park Rangers were on hand to ensure that the day progressed in an uneventful fashion. I even stopped into their office to thank them. My only complaint is aimed toward the escalators. I parked here twice within a 3 week period and both times they either weren't running or only one of them was functional. I even made jokes, at their expense, that they haven't run since the Lincoln administration. Fix the escalator and I can easily see bumping the star-rating up a notch. read more

Staying overnight in downtown LA and don't know where to park? Afraid to leave your car out on the streets or in a lot that could possibly be closed when you come back? Pershing Square Garage has saved my ass a couple times. I was sketched out originally but read the other reviews and decided to give it a go. It is rather eerie in here so make sure to go with someone to drop your car off. From what I was told, you'll need to drive down a few levels and park your car on the lowest level. They really need to have cameras in this garage. Someone damaged my car and did not leave a note while I was in the office working. I inspected the cars in front of mine and noticed yellow paint transfers and damage to the side of a dark grey car. I notified security who came on a bicycle and took a report and photos. He told me that there are no cameras. While security was writing his report, the owner of the grey car came and she said that she did not know that she hit my car. If she would have returned to her car before I did, I would have never found out who was responsible. The security man said that I could pick up a report the next day from the office upstairs. When I went to get the report--no one could find it. Fortunately, her insurance company paid for the repair. But when I went to the office for my report, I was informed that they have approximately 30 accidents in the garage every month reported. Management allows people to abandon and park in the middle of the aisle blocking other cars from getting into and out of spaces. People race to spaces in the narrow corridors here. read more

This is the grimy parking structure underneath Pershing Square park. If you can find parking anywhere else (and this is a very tough area to park), I'd recommend doing that. It's gross and not well maintained. Besides the fairly strong urine scent, when I was there only ONE of the escalators in the entire garage was working. Not one BANK of escalators... just one single escalator. I couldn't find any elevators (there are NO signs to speak of in the garage). So you'll be schlepping up a lot of steps. And the escalators are filthy. You really don't want to touch the handrails. When I was there, one of the pedestrian exits (to Olive Street) was closed. So you're going to have to go out of your way if that was your plan. And don't even think about asking the "security staff" for directions or advice on getting out of the garage... The young man I spoke to was much more interested in the game he was playing on his cell phone and was rude and unhelpful. It's $16 to park all day. Which isn't bad. But this is not a pleasant place to leave your car. You can almost certainly do better. read more

I was going for dinner on Hill Street and this was the best place to park. I hadn't been here before, but it was easy to get to. There was ample parking on the first level and I was at the restaurant in great time. The problem with Pershing Square is getting out. Stupidly, I came out on Olive rather than 5th. Olive is a mess with construction and 7 PM going home traffic. I would have been out and on my way sooner if I hadn't chosen Olive. Make sure you take your ticket with you. Pay at the automated machine and you have 15 minutes to leave. Paying in advance means that you're not holding people up as you fish for your credit card and pay at the gate. Now that I know the lot, I'll use it more often when I want to explore in this area of DTLA. It's quite central!! read more

The escalators pretty much never ever are working. I feel nervous walking on them, however there is no other option. Additionally they just increased rates however are not improving the facilities. Since they have taken away the $10 early bird (and I always park before 6:30am) I now I have to pay double! We needed to park our car for an event across the street at the Biltmore, and the garage was well lit, the escalators still don't work which other reviews have pointed out, so I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. The price is just right for parking, though. $9, you can't beat that in LA. Secured and underground, rest assured your car was safe. Would I park my car here in the future!?: Bordered by 5th St., Hill St., 6th St., and Olive St., and perfectly situated for my evening's adventures directly across Olive St. at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel, I wasn't going to mess around and search for cheaper parking. Again, you were in walking distance (a block ot two) to so many places around DTLA, such as Pershing Square, California Plaza, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grand Park...the list could go on and on. It's a wonder I nevered parked here before. Otherwise, it was nicely centralized to so many other places and the walking was easy and safe in all directions. Service - There were onsite attendants for any assistance, easily found a spot and parked the Toaster. At the end of the night, you took your receipt to the automated pay machines (cash or credit card), paid up, and off you went on your merry way - easy peasy! Parking (Varies; $7.00 in this case) - At this time, it was a flat rate valid through 8:00am the next morning. This gave anyone ample time to roam the streets of DTLA in search of drinks, drugs, entertainment, food, sex, whatever...or crash at a friend's place in the area overnight. The absolute cheapest garage/lot in downtown LA!! I'll use this garage every time I have a meeting or appointment within a 5 block area and just enjoy the walk. The best rates are before 9am, after 5p and on weekends when it's a flat rate but today for almost 40 minutes paid only $3.86!!! While the top level is reserved, I've never had to go lower than the second level and have always found lots of spaces. From there it's the stairs or escalator to take you to the top! It's below Pershing Square and there is an entrance off of every street (except 6th so turn left on Olive to get in). read more

I park at Pershing Square every day for work. Until today, I may have had only a few minor complaints because, overall, the parking is convenient and well-priced. However, I can no longer say one of these two things. Pershing Square posted a sign today that parking will be increase from $16 to $20 per day and that early-bird parking will no longer be an option after October 1st. Currently early bird parking is $10, which I always aim for as a morning person. Thus, this rather abrupt notice results in a 200% hike in a DAILY EXPENSE. There also appears to be no justification for the additional money since clearly it isn't used on the cleanliness of the structure or the functionality of the escalator! Side note: of the maybe 12 escalators total, Pershing Square usually has about 2 to 3 operational. The garage has likely never been hosed, there are cockroaches and trash throughout. I even once saw an abandoned car parked in the lot for a time period of over 4 months at least! Even if I WANTED to stay and use the monthly parking option, there are never any monthly parking passes available. In reality, nearly every individual using this lot will need to contribute double their hard-working salaries to park for the day. Pershing Square, this seems unnecessary and will force myself and other daily patrons to look elsewhere. This is disappointing to say the very least. read more

Why do we have to pay for parking in DTLA? I totally dislike it but accept it grudgingly. This parking garage is one of the best prices around in downtown LA. If you get here before 10 am on a weekday, the cost is a flat fee of $10 (although there may be some prices cheaper near the jewelry district if you come before 10 am (some lots will charge you $7-8 before 10 am) and only a flat fee of $7 after 5 pm Monday- Thursday and weekends. This parking structure is safe with a security guard on site. There are restrooms here in this structure. You just have to ask the security guard to unlock the doors for you. But upon my last visit here (last Tuesday I came here to check out the ice skating on the roof top of this building), the women's restroom was unlocked but my husband had to ask for a key to get the men's restroom unlocked. If you come here for the holiday ice skate rink (http://holidayicerinkdowntownla.com/ which runs through January 19, rain or shine.) then make sure to get your ticket validated so you can save $2 on parking. I had to park here around 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning and it was a bit freaky, I'll be quite honest. There was really no one else around and the escalators were abandoned. I'm lost, this parking garage is confusing, but it is convenient and early in the morning you can have your pick of any place to park. My brother parks here for work, I'm not sure how he pays but he was not happy of some parking increases. Compared to DC, people should feel lucky that most of the time, you can find parking. The lot was pretty clean if you ask me and the spaces were not as small as they could be. No one is ever going to say anything positive about parking or any public transpiration, I should know since I worked in it for 6 years. I used to not have a problem with this parking lot, but now I have two things to say. 1) most people working here whom I have interacted with are very nice and helpful. But this one guy working the morning shift was so unbelievably rude! I try my luck one morning as they start putting signs up saying Lot Full, and I ask if I can please just squeeze in. The man doesn't respond and instead puts on a mean emotionless face and stares blankly at me. So I'm waiting for a response...maybe he didn't hear me? i asked again and he just signals me to get out of the lane and takes pictures of my car and license plate!? What is this place?? I wouldn't have had a problem if this guy just said the obvious politely, "I'm sorry we can't, the lot is full unfortunately." 2) the lot is actually NOT full. I park here often for work and I realized they block the entrances around 8.30 to 8.45 am saying Lot Full. I know this to be not true because one time I made it in right as they put the signs up, and the whole lower level was almost empty. I am a person with mobility issues and I was at the garage today. I had to pay the $10.00 parking fee for the "privilege" of finding out that the escalators were out of order. Walking to the elevators if you can find them may be okay for most people, but for me it was an impossibility. The garage should post notices at the entrance driveways alerting people to the fact that the escalators aren't working so people are aware before they drive in. Pershing Square Garage is a great place to park and a fair price. DTLA is notorious for their horrible parking situation. Pershing Square garage is in the center of everything in DTLA. It's cheap to park there. Unlike other parking lots in the area, the garage stays open 24/7 with guards present. The garage is clean. The one comment I have is that this garage needs to fix their escalators. I've been parking here for over 6 months and it seems like half of the escalators are always broken. I'm not sure why, seeing as this parking garage essentially prints money. It's frustrating to have the escalators broken all the time. Escalators aren't as easy as stairs to walk up. They are steep and uneven. I've almost fallen a few times. Other than that, this place is one of the more affordable places to park in DTLA. If you are staying in the hotel in the downtown area, I would park your car here overnight. It cost $40+ to park at hotels overnight. Pershing Square Garage is only $16 a night. This conveniently located subterranean parking garage is very handy. I parked here recently for trip to the ice skating rink in Pershing Square. So this place was right next to it. They pricing isn't bad for evenings and weekends at a flat rate of $7. Pro Tip: If you go ice skating you can get a reduction in price of $2 so parking is only $5. That kinda pricing isn't bad for DTLA. However, its more expensive than the meters. Also the surrounding open air lots are often cheaper for a full price full day park. The interior is nice in that you have easy access to what you need, but don't plan on bringing a suburban down here. I could barely fit my 4runner into a space and get it out, with a 3/4 empty garage! so just be forewarned this place isn't big car friendly whatsoever.
