NEVER EVER GOING THERE AGAIN. AVOID THESE FAKESTERS. MEDINA SUPERSTORE, MAS BAZAR and even BANGLa STATION with its high prices is better than Paks supermarket lozells road, atleast in Bangl station you gonna get fresh produce at the weight it's supposed to be at even if they charge extra but at PaKsSupermarket Lozells not only they charge you but the hive you produce which is gone bad and even from there they will steal a few pieces out. STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY. BTW have you guys seen the TikTok videos by PaKs lozells road, all comments are turned off. we wonder why. must be a reason. what have you got to hide. you don't want the word getting around that you guys are leeching off the local community. you disgraceful people. Pak supermarket Alum rock and Cov Road is really good btw. recommend it to all.

Marks and Spencer Foodhall is a veritable temple to all that is yummy. M&S as a retailer has…read moretraditionally focused on clothing, home goods, and luxury food items at its stores. It wasn't until relatively recently in its over 130 year history that food became of special concern. While most of their retail stores dedicate a space to food under the simply food banner, or through their cafes, the M&S Foodhall is their concept solely dedicated as a supermarket. Competition in the grocery market is very tight in the UK. While Asda, Tesco, Aldi, and Lidl fight it out in the discount arena, M&S faces these down market pressures while also fending off Waitrose et al. Foodhall offers a unique value proposition normally only found from German food retailers, in that nearly all products on the shelf are under the M&S private label. In fact, beer and wines are pretty much the only non M&S items you'll find on the shelf. This M&S Foodhall serves with a substantial square footage, typical of its suburban location. The car park is large and free for the first three hours, and is a convenient drive to New Oscott for anyone in the Sutton Coldfield/Erdington area. It offers everything you would expect from a food retailer such as fresh produce, packaged goods, special items (like an entire gluten-free section), and an enormous amount of refrigerated/frozen foods. Most produce I purchase at other grocery stores will last 2-3 days before it starts to spoil. M&S's fruits and veg are not only of a very high quality, but they typically keep for a good week. The tomatoes in particular, are some of the best I have found from a chain food retailer in the UK. Their refrigerated and frozen foods are a big focus at this location, and provide an excellent value for those nights when you don't want to cook for yourself. The items are in a refrigerated cold case (ready to be cooked in an oven) and run the gamut of cuisine types, such as Italian, British, and pan-Asian. Most are also on rotating specials each week. For example, recently the Foodhall offered a £10 meal deal special, which included one of their Italian entrees (Pizza, lasagna, pasta, etc), two sides (salad, olives, focaccia, frites, or garlic bread), and a bottle of Italian wine (Montepulciano d'abruzzo a standout). The vegetable lasagna was large enough for three meals, and the sides of garlic bread and salad provided four portions each. The wine MSRP was £7, making this meal deal a real steal. Another example is their running special of three sides for £5, which can easily become two meals. While M&S has traditionally held an upmarket image, these special provide outstanding value and taste that cannot be found from other supermarkets in the area. If you are a fan of fresh foods that are worth every penny, this M&S Foodhall is definitely worth a look.

Sainsbury's at Martineau Square is probably the largest supermarket style store in Birmingham city…read morecentre, at least in the Sainsbury's brand anyway but it is far from the best. The store was really understaffed when I came in, it felt like they were ready to shut in the middle of the day with no manned tills or counters, the store was even really dark to get around (perhaps a power outage in part of the store), yet there was no staff members apologising or offering assistance. Other reviews suggest it isn't even a lighting issue and it has been going on for weeks and months, which surely makes no sense: as someone who visits Sainsbury's stores across England and Wales, I've not seen anything like it. I couldn't get any of the items I came in for which strangely were on sale in a smaller Sainsbury's store on Colmore Row, it is a large supermarket but I just wasn't impressed with the selection. The ramped enterance into the store remains dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen as it involves a sharp and narrow corner blocked by a wall, I really don't know how health and safety approved it as it is too narrow to have two lanes and all it takes is to people coming up at the same time (and then unable to go back) and BANG. The store really does need to review their staffing levels, ramped enterance and lighting as a matter of urgency.

For £2.95 you can have yourself a medium salad bowl packed full of bean, beetroot, red pepper, chickpea and other salads which I have to say tastes great! Big shouts to the pea and mint salad which gives the whole bowl freshness and a whole load of extra flavour....I strongly recommend going in on that scoop for a lunchtime win! I know you are thinking.....supermarket salad bowl.....it's going to be rubbish.....but this one shames other supermarkets. I need to say that compared to Morrisons dried out salads this is on another level. If you want a cheap lunch on the move and want to be healthy in a savage world of burger temptation.....give this a go.

As you may have seen from previous reviews, I am a bit of a bargain hunter. I like to eat well (by…read morehaving a very mixed diet) and save as much money as possible on the boring stuff (like the food shop). This makes me a really big fan of Aldi. I remember the stigma that was attached to discount supermarkets when I was younger and the shame of having "non branded" crisps in your lunchbox at school, well, I certainly feel that a lot has changed and these stores are now a viable option to get great quality, cheaper food (and drink) options. This branch is actually my favourite. I know, it's weird having a favourite branch of Aldi, but when we can't get to market on a weekend we have a plethora of Aldi's and Lidl's around us to choose from. This one (just by Cannon Hill park) is always tidy, clean and tends to have the items we need in stock (rather than other branches which seem to run out of things). I always find it really funny to see how many Mercedes, Jag's and high end cars are parked in the car park of this branch. Clearly the discount supermarket is no longer a taboo! As well as the usual choice of fruit, veg and meat you will find lots of speciality items here. With everything from award winning wines and champagnes to a great selection of baking paraphernalia and season items in stock, if you're anything like me you'll usually spend more than you bargained for! Again, this is my favourite branch of Aldi in Birmingham. If you are looking for a way to cut down the cost of the weekly shop or just get a picnic in before visiting Cannon Hill, you could do much worse than popping in and seeing what these guys have in stock.

Why must you insist on having such…read moredelectable goodies poking their noses over the edges of the shelves which somehow always find their way into my trolley? But in all seriousness Aldi really has managed to shake off the stigma it once had by continuing to stock good quality items at slightly lower prices than the big supermarkets. Especially with the 'super 6' offers and weekly offers on meat that often beat the big supermarkets measly 20p off by a country mile. Aldi is great for the vast majority of things but it's quite rare that we can do an entire weekly shop there, unfortunately some items we can only get at our local supermarket that shall remain nameless. That being said their selection of beers is great (and lets face it, it's what we're all here for!), with several ales, weissbier, pilsner and a few other bits and pieces as well all coming in at £1.25 or less per bottle - bargain! Just make sure you take some carrier bags to reuse, they will charge you!
