That said, they do have a good range of things, most of which are brands we don't usually see in this country. What they sell can be incredibly cheap, last time I got an avocado for 17p and and a mango for 20p, and they were both tasty enough and kept fine. One downside to this place is that the car park is small and there have been queues to get in. Also, they don't seem to have the trolleys that you can put your baby car seat in, so it's not quite as easy as some other supermarkets. But worth stopping by for a few cheap goodies.

Also, they always have great offers on and there adverts are great, and im watching one while writing this now. the only supermarket to sell 100% british Beef. Quality food The staff wear some stange uniform which always gets on my nerves. They are not partically helpful either. Parking isnt great and traffic around this area can be very busy. I advise to shop around for the deals, also morrisons did have Ben and Jerrys for under £2. Thats Cheap!

I remember the stigma that was attached to discount supermarkets when I was younger and the shame of having "non branded" crisps in your lunchbox at school, well, I certainly feel that a lot has changed and these stores are now a viable option to get great quality, cheaper food (and drink) options. This branch is actually my favourite. I know, it's weird having a favourite branch of Aldi, but when we can't get to market on a weekend we have a plethora of Aldi's and Lidl's around us to choose from. This one (just by Cannon Hill park) is always tidy, clean and tends to have the items we need in stock (rather than other branches which seem to run out of things). I always find it really funny to see how many Mercedes, Jag's and high end cars are parked in the car park of this branch. Clearly the discount supermarket is no longer a taboo! As well as the usual choice of fruit, veg and meat you will find lots of speciality items here. With everything from award winning wines and champagnes to a great selection of baking paraphernalia and season items in stock, if you're anything like me you'll usually spend more than you bargained for! Again, this is my favourite branch of Aldi in Birmingham. If you are looking for a way to cut down the cost of the weekly shop or just get a picnic in before visiting Cannon Hill, you could do much worse than popping in and seeing what these guys have in stock.

But in all seriousness Aldi really has managed to shake off the stigma it once had by continuing to stock good quality items at slightly lower prices than the big supermarkets. Especially with the 'super 6' offers and weekly offers on meat that often beat the big supermarkets measly 20p off by a country mile. Aldi is great for the vast majority of things but it's quite rare that we can do an entire weekly shop there, unfortunately some items we can only get at our local supermarket that shall remain nameless. That being said their selection of beers is great (and lets face it, it's what we're all here for!), with several ales, weissbier, pilsner and a few other bits and pieces as well all coming in at £1.25 or less per bottle - bargain! Just make sure you take some carrier bags to reuse, they will charge you!

The selection of fruit and vegetable is good, with lots of exotic stuff at very good prices. My best bargain for instance: 3 pomegranites for £1! That certainly beats £1.39 each at Tesco or even 99p. at Asda! I like the big 20kg bags of basmati rice, if you have room to store, it is really worth getting as it is less than half the price of small packs from bigger supermarkets. Surprisingly, there is also a large selection of continental biscuits, including my all time favourites, palmiers, which are large heart-shaped crunchy biscuits that you would normally find in French bakeries. Admitedly these are imported and packaged in platic boxes, but they are like a little treat from home.

Land of the daily free tea and coffee, home of frozen game and Duchy products…read more The Harborne Waitrose is smallish, as they often are, but it still has pretty much everything you'd need to do a full shop- if you don't mind it being a bit more expensive. They started price- matching brand products a while back though, and the Waitrose Essentials stuff is pretty good- and top quality. I digress. This Waitrose has two tea and coffee machines, near the entrance, so I frequently pop in for my free beverage. It also has a pretty decent cheese counter, deli, butcher and fish counter. It also does rotisserie chickens, which are soooo good. I really rate the wine selection too- with a good sized section of both everyday and special occasion wines (the occasion could just be that you bought some nice wine, of course). Generally it's a great place to shop. Staff are super friendly, polite and helpful. If you're clumsy like me, they won't charge you for breakages either... It's also not so big that you get lost, and I like to think about how I'll buy all those fancy biscuits when I'm rich.

I do have to say the quality of waitrose food is very very very good!!!!! This store has very friendly staff who are willing to help and sow you to where a product is kept. The store is well organised and stocked, i guess there isnt much to criticise really in regards to the store. The car park outside isn't huge and fills up very quickly especially on weekends. But its free for 1.5 hours which is a good bonus. This store also has scanners so you can scan your shopping as you go around the store and hand in your scanner at the checkout for easier payment. Overall it has very fresh food, meat, veg and fruit. very efficient, its clean and the store is just the right size, not too big and not too small.

And if you dont like the food you buy, because you are disapointed just tell sainsburys. They gave me a voucher last time i did and they were really nice about it. Saisburys pricing isnt as cheap as other places so if you dont like paying extra than this is not for you. Store is fairly old but staff are great most of the time and its always easy to find what you are looking for. Always has great offers on as well, and the pre-cooked meat from the counter seems to be quality on top of the quality that you already get. Tesco's and Morrisons are not as great for quality but if you dont mind paying a little extra its worth it. Also bakery has a large range of cakes which is always nice, but make sure you dont leave it to late in the day or there wont be any left. Can become really busy which is a pain but overall good store to shop in, food great but is more expensive than other supermarkets.

They also sell the usual stuff like every other supermarket. Uusally this store gets quite full, but you never seem to queue for too long which is good. Customer services are helpful in every aspect, which cant be said for some stores! They also have a cafe too, which is really nice and reasonably priced too. I have been here a number of times on my lunch. Its really nice.

I actually much…read moreprefer Aldi over Lidl (as I think the quality of the fruit and veg is generally better), but this Lidl certainly has it's place. We tend to pop into Lidl when we can't make it to Birmingham markets on a Saturday or if we need to do quite a full shop in a hurry. Inevitably, there is stuff you can't seem to get at Lidl (so a trip to Tesco is normally in order as well), but for the basics and some continental stuff - it's well worth a trip. Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, ground coffee and other foodie essentials are surprisingly cheap (for a much bigger bottle/bag) here. The range of soft drinks and alcohol is also pretty good at this branch - so although it won't be a "one stop" shop, you'll probably be able to get most of your list here for a good 25% - 40% cheaper than the big name supermarkets. Be sure to take plastic bags with you (Lidl charges for bags) and be prepared for a queue. There are normally 2 - 3 checkouts open at any one time, but Lidl's can get mega busy. The checkout system is a little different from your normal supermarkets as you are expected to put beeped items straight in your trolley (rather than packing bags), to save time. Once everything is done and paid for, there are packing spaces provided in store to put your items in plastic bags. There are normally boxes available on the side to pack away your wares or you can purchase bags if you need too. It's of note that there is a large car park here, should you be doing a big shop. There is rarely an issue with parking too, but obviously it'll be quieter if you don't go in peak time. It's not glam, but a trip to stock your cupboards rarely is. Why not see if you can swap your brands and save at Aldi? We do... Quite regularly.
