If you are looking for a purse I would highly recommend this establishment. I liked so many of their purses and the very different styles. Handmade and so much attention to detail. The service provided by Yoyo was very special! read more

I purchased my first bag from Paul Marais while on my trip, and since then, I have ordered bags from them on-line to be shipped to me in the United States. When I ordered a new bag last month, Paul Marais out-did itself for speed of getting my order to me. My new bag travelled all the way from Paris to my home in the U.S. in under 48 hours! It cleared customs just hours after I placed my order and arrived so fast that it might have gotten jet lag! The prices are reasonable as well for the quality--far less expensive than the pricey designer bags available in the States, and much better made. If you are in Paris, visit this store and see for yourself its beautiful products. I will forever be a Paul Marais customer. I can't imagine having a handbag made by anyone else again.

There was about a 15 min wait to get in and the process was pretty quick since I knew exactly what I wanted. During my visit, once in a sales associate came to assist right away. While they didn't have the black cherry, she offered the taupe and red clay-- I decided on the red clay and actually love it! Things to note: If visiting from outside of France and aiming to do a tax refund, make sure to have your physical passport on hand. Also to note, they don't accept AMEX for payment. Additionally, a physical card must be used for my sans contact/ApplePay friends. Not sure if it's just this location or Poléne. Overall, super happy with the handbag. I wish I'd also gotten the Cyme for more everyday use but will have to when next in Paris.

I have found the best shoe store in Paris. I repeat, I have found the best shoe store in Paris!…read moreIt's almost too good to be true, but it's not, since I have the boots on my feet to prove it! Ok, imagine a shop that sells a tight-selection of super stylish, comfortable shoes, from boots and strappy heels to slip on flats and chunky pumps at affordable prices. Already, I've got you hooked right? Now add to that the fact that all of the shoes are made in Paris in an atelier in the 11th. Not only is that impressive, but so outrageously rare. Aside from super exclusive artisans creating custom shoes that cost a month's rent, it's impossible to find locally-made shoes at real-people prices. Now, as if that weren't enough, get ready for the icing on the cake. ALL of the models can be customized for no extra fee at all. So, if you love that pair of peep-toe pumps but want them in emerald green in stead of pink, Taher Mardini can make that happen for you. I took advantage of the sales and bought myself the perfect pair of black boots at 30% off the ticket price. They are amazingly beautiful and super comfortable and cost 1/4 of the price of a pair of designer boots made who knows where in the world. I'm totally eying a pair of ankle books that I plan on ordering in one of the 50 or so different colors that you could choose from. Never owned a pair of red boots and I think that I totally need that experience in my life. Oh, I forgot to mention that they'll also recreate a pair of your favorite beat up shoes for you too! How insane is that?! Thanks to Taher Mardini we can now make all of our shoe fantasies come true!

The store doubles as a mini museum with three floors of current and historical models of JLC watches, and with sales staff happy to educate you. I've never seen an ATMOS clock (a clock powered by atmospheric pressure changes in the environment) in person anywhere else. It was a treat. Second, the service center downstairs managed by Mathieu is top notch. I brought my reverso duo face in for anti-magnetic issues (turns out walking through airport security checks might mess out the balance wheel in the watch). Service was great and I walked away learning more about my watch. (I particularly enjoy the part where he describes my watch as a "she", rather than "it", which may either be a result of faulty French translating that is done in his head, or the fact that he regards a JLC watch as a living, breathing organism that he cares deeply about. I prefer to think it is the latter). Third, when I bought my watch here in 2012, it was a very pleasant experience. While they could not move on the retail price, the sales associate offered a 16% (rather than the usual 12%) VAT refund and also threw in a second, black ostrich strap (on top of the standard brown croc one that comes with the watch), which I currently use. After visiting the service center, this past time, I looked at some more watches, particularly an ultra-thin with a date function and received similarly friendly and accommodating service from Elena. While I would rather not double up on the same brand for my next watch purchase (for diversity reasons), the overall experience at the JLC flagship in Paris, both for sales and repairs, in addition to some of their very nice models available, will make the decision to look to another brand very difficult indeed.
