Cal.), one food my family was missing was pupusas. Finding this place was what we needed. We ordered pupusas and an order of empanadas. We used the online option of DinDin. It's a little "hole in the wall" place, which in my book, has the highest chance of having great tasting, authentic food. And this place fit that perfectly. When ordering through DinDin, you select a time for the pick up. That was good since it was a little over a twenty minute drive for us. We arrived a few minutes early from the pick up time so we hung out at the front, checked out the printed menu. The place smelled delicious! There were only a few folks sitting in the booths there. It is a small space inside. The staff there were nice and welcoming. We only waited for a couple minutes and then our food was ready. Once we got home, we tore into those pupusas. In fact, I ate them so fast, I forgot to take pictures to be used for this review! Lol The food was HOT. Even after our drive back home. We ordered various pupusas and based on each of us, a big THUMBS UP! I loved the flavor of the salsa. And the curtido was crunchy and flavorful. The empanadas were delicious and we made sure to eat them while they were still warm. Loved the mix of flavors with this little treat. We will return to this place the next time we crave pupusas! Or I think we'll have the Salvadoran tamales. Or one of the sopas. Geez, it's hard to decide. Give this place a try. Support your small businesses. And appreciate the delicious food originating from the beautiful country of El Salvador.

However, I wish it was bigger considering they charged $16+. We very much enjoyed the bean and cheese pupusas that were fulfilling enough to have 1 for each person. We ordered 3 and the cabbage was enough for 2 people. I recommend ordering extra if your 3rd person wants some as well. The place appeared clean and the workers were kind. Despite the cashier accidentally charging more and the price of it being higher than other spots we have been to, I would say you pay for the quality of the food. Other items can be overcharged (i.e a small fountain drink was $7).

If you think you know just what enchiladas, empanadas and tamales taste like, be prepared to really surprised by the Salvadoran versions. They also have Mexican menu items. Menudo is featured on weekends and it's as good a menudo as I've ever had - rich and thick, with lots of meat of stomach and foot. There is only one lady making the food so we wait for ten minutes. As we wait I watch the man who took our order give a homeless man the rest of his meal, a pupusa. The kindness of these people is not lost on me. This business seems to be family run. What they lack in drink selections, they really make up for in dishes at Pupusas Montalvo. There's only fountain drinks, which is fine, although I'm on a diet so I'll stick with soda water. I notice the lady is smiling and cracking jokes as she makes our food. This is also much appreciated. I ordered the bean and cheese pupusa plate with bacon and avocado. My wife ordered both pupusa, bean and cheese and pork. My plate came with pickled cabbage and jalapeño. The dish is served with salsa. As I bite into the pupusa I realize this was expertly made. Cheese leaked out of the bean and cheese pupusa as it cooked making bits of cheese super crispy. The pickled cabbage and salsa are the perfect pairing. I try a bite of my wife's pork pupusa and almost become jealous, although I am highly satisfied with my choice. I bet this is what pupusa taste like in heaven. Since then, I've visited a few times and have ordered a few different types of pupusas, all of which have been absolutely delicious. Each pupusa is freshly prepared and served with curtido (pickled cabbage slaw). Each pupusa is a pretty large size - I order two each time, and 1 1/2 in, I'm usually pretty full. Pupuseria Del Valle operates out of a food truck in Common Fields. Unlike some of the other food trucks there, you order directly at the food truck's window. After ordering, you receive a restaurant pager, so you can sit down and wait for your food. The wait time is usually between 10-15 minutes. I'd never gotten a chance to try a pupusa (only gorditas, which are somewhat similar) before eating them here. I'm so glad I tried them for the first time at Pupuseria Del Valle, because they are now one of my favorite foods!

The woman who took my order was really nice, but I don't think she should have been taking orders. Even with me being bilingual and her daughter helping translate, she had a hard time understanding what I wanted, even though I was reading it directly from their menu. The wait time was short. Everything was fresh. The pupusa dough, the veggies, the toppings-- I loved everything except the chicken, which tasted like it had been boiled or canned at some point. But that's my fault for ordering chicken from a Latino food cart, knowing they sometimes take these chicken shortcuts. The salsa and queso fresco were both bomb. 5 stars on both of those. The portion size was a decent value for the price. It was too much food for me to eat in just one sitting. If I came back again, I would order literally any meat other than chicken. I might even ask how it's cooked first, just to be sure. Overall I thought it was pretty good, and I would definitely come back again. (I just wouldn't get the chicken.)
