Perqs is the spot for Super Bowl! I've been going to Perqs for years and appreciate that they have good prices and are low key. Mainly it's the bar to go to when you want to get some drinks without having to dress up for a fancy bar. Also, they have live bands at night on most weekends! I was shocked that they had complementary hot dogs and nachos for the big game. I will definitely be going to Perqs for the Super Bowl next year after what a great experience I had this year! Typically Perqs does not have food by the way, so having this on the game day was really top notch! The bartender's are always chill too; I would say if you want a fancy little cocktail bar, do NOT go to Perqs. read more

I have my ID on my phone and don't carry my wallet. They would not honor my ID to let me in. I am 45 years old and look it. Absolutely rude "security" which is more like a minimum wage big guy on a power trip with zero critical thinking skills. We will take our business elsewhere and advocate to end yours! You must have done something pretty shady to be so strict to not take a government app ID! read more

For a dive bar it's pretty fun, where the locals go and drink and listen to good bands! (A lot of famous bands started out playing here). Definitely go on a Friday or Saturday day/night. It has a long bar and a tiny dance floor too! read more

I don't really write bad reviews, but overall this place was really not the vibe. I would never recommend this place to anyone because the workers were very unprofessional and it made me super uncomfortable. There was a specific Asian worker who was just ruining my groups night by implying rude comments & overall being bias against us. It quickly led to us just leaving because we did not want anymore backlash. I completely understand how it is to work in a customer service field, but never would I act the way she treated us to anyone. I hope Perqs is well. read more

I've been here a few times now but my most recent was last weekend and my longest visit. (The first couple of times were for a quick shot or 1 drink then we bounced). Unbelievable terrible service My female friend unzipped my Santa Claus suit. As went to bar and asked "Perqs IPA please" bartender said unknown. words. I said "excuse me. Bartender responded "you need to zip up". I said "okay" While I was looking down at my zipper to zip up the bartender walked away then another bartender told me to zip it up. To speed things up for them I turned around facing friend to assist. Then a bouncer kicked me out. They were very aggressive not wanting me say quick goodbye to few friends As I exited the bouncer at the door said knew nothing about it and had to do his job. He asked if I was drinking. I responded "of course. What kind of question is this?" It was around midnight so already early for a Saturday night. So early no rush to get home with Uber or Lyft, Sober enough to jog home 2.76 miles in my Santa costume and casual shoes in 23 minutes & 20 Seconds. Only good thing is saved me over $30! If ever find me there again is only due to been there many times with friends who will continue to go there. I just never again tip them. read more

Great local place to have a drink and watch a band, especially on a Friday night!! Their bands are usually rock bands which is really awesome. They don't have servers so you have to order your drinks at the bar and it's gets pretty packed sometimes...depending on the bank. Otherwise, great little spot to enjoy music and dancing. read more

Came here on a Sunday. Walked in with the upmost best vibes. Cody at the door was an actual doll. The dude behind the bar was the least interesting entity in that place. So rude. His service was so slow. More worried about his girlfriend and her friends. Not going to lie on the review I 100% took a lime out the tray after asking for it but not receiving it, I did not contaminate THE ENTIRE FRUITE TRAY. I ONLY TOOK LIKE A LIL FINGER TO TAKE THE TIP OF A LIME OUT OF IT. I bartend myself I'm not an idiot. Wish for the best from you guys. I come here when I want a cool divey feel. The dog friendly environment makes me loves this place. Please do better on who you employ. Totally understand my fuck up on touching the service tray and grabbing my own lime but never would have felt the need if your bartender was adequate at his job. One of the security guards Cody was being extremely rude to me and my friend. The bartender was a woman, I don't know her name but she had fake eyelashes and she was Asian. She was veryyyy rude to my friend. She screamed at her when she was simply asking a question. Overall, service was a 0/10. The workers are not trained and are very rude to customers. I would not recommend to anyone looking for a good time. There were also some minors in there that I saw them let go through. Not a good bar at all. read more

Listen, I used to work in food service. And then, after that, retail. I've experienced the full spectrum of humanity, and it was often unpleasant. I learned fairly quickly that I lack the temperament to handle people en masse, particularly when they're inebriated. The female bartender here is long overdue for a similar come-to-Jesus moment. Her name escapes me but she's racially ambiguous, dark-haired, and filled with all of the warmth and hospitality of unsanctioned CIA torture. Seriously girl, why are you here? During the 4 hours my friend and I were there I watched her snap at people on the dance floor, snap at the bouncer watching the dance floor, snap at her fellow bartender, and then, finally, snap at actual paying customers. It was so unpleasant that my friend and I left despite wanting to stay. And I thought you know, hey, people have off nights, maybe we caught her on a bad one. But I mentioned my experience to someone else, someone who frequents this place with his friends often, and he said it's a regular occurrence. I awarded two stars, as opposed to one, because the TouchTunes was fun and I enjoyed the people there. Many of them are in town for the air show and I hope this lone, excruciatingly unlikeable bartender doesn't color their opinion of the city. Pro tip: Killarney's down the street is plenty busy with none of the attitude. 2nd Floor is cool too. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here Tuesday night and had an oddly unpleasant experience with the female bartender. He ordered a Long Island and I ordered a Vodka Cran with a splash of soda. My boyfriend then asked if it was too late to change his order and if she had already started his Long Island. She snapped back "I can't make a Long Island that fast. Rude." She then began up a glass with soda. I reminded her it was a vodka cranberry with a splash of soda. She was pretty irritated by this. I decided to leave and will not be returning to this place. Looks like I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with her. read more

Matt is HORRIBLE. I have been a loyal customer at Perq's for 10 years and he literally and physically shoved me out of the way for no reason. I had been at the bar for about an hour, listening to my favorite band "Those Guys"! I absolutely love Katie, their lead singer, and I brought a friend for the second time to enjoy the music. I was hanging out with Eric (the old bouncer/door security) and enjoying the band. Out of nowhere, and for no reason at all... Matt decided that I was in the way, and he made a huge scene. He was rude, disrespectful, and an absolute asshole. He needs to be fired. Dave, if you are going to employ people like this, then I have no respect for the business. I am in the industry, a restaurant manager, and I know how all of this works. If you have people like that, employed by you, it will not go well. Matt, you're an absolutely unhappy person. You don't deserve the job that you have and you have no business being in the industry. Any man that pushes a woman for no reason, deserves no respect. It's no wonder that you're in the situation that you are. I highly advise any woman that goes into this bar, to not deal with Matt. He's an egotistical asshole and male chauvinist pig. He will treat you like shit for no reason, no matter how long you have been a faithful customer. He doesn't give a crap about anybody. Avoid going into Perqs when he is working. Take it from a local who's been going there for 10 years. read more

We wanted to car watch the Main Street on Huntington Beach so we tried Perqs. It's just a bar, they don't serve food but the bartender was great. We snagged a table that looked outside but the bar had plenty of seating that was great. We ordered a draft beer and bloody Mary's. The beer was cold and the Bloody Mary's were very good. Bartender was nothing but utmost disrespectful upon first interaction. I simply moved a trash can with a seat to sit next to my friend and got greeted with grief from the bartender. Instead of letting me know respectfully with a "Hey you mind leaving the trash can there it's my well", I was informed with "that's there for a reason, and not leaving it out on the walkway" (which I didn't by the way) and gives me a smirk laugh. Gives me a bold idea of the customer service here. Definitely not earning my businesses ever again. Whichever bartender there that had dollar coined-size ear piercings is better off as a dmv employee. read more

Just DONT! We live 3 blocks from this dive bar and we wouldn't go here if it was the last place on earth. The bartender "Jay" is so so rude. She makes her $ trying to turn it into a bikini bar catering to 3 or 4 of her "regular" old men and dissing everyone else. ‍ Way overpriced, dead bar, horrible atmosphere. To be fair, this is not a review of the music venue. But I can give the bouncers that work here a 1 as they too have proved to be unfriendly a-holes. HB has so many great options to this s**t hole. This is a really cool spot and if you are lucky enough, the front window seats are some of the best in town. That said, we had a bad experience with the touch tunes. We wanted to hear a little country, connected to the Touch tunes and paid for our music. Well the male bartender had other plans, lowered the music and eventually bypassed the music selections we made and paid for. What's the point of a touch tunes? I guess he said the music reminded him of his ex man. Bro get over it. read more

I luv Perq's however today 6 -4 -23 at around 12 pm iI got totally cheated. We went there after breakfast at wet dogs , excellent drinks and food . We then proceeded to perqs orderd drinks paid the 42 dollar bill with a hundred got 8 dollars back complained and got kicked violently out the bar wtf. Really .. Watchch out for cheaters. *** NO SE HABLA Español *** A group of 4 of us conducted a social experiment where we visited bars as non-English speaking patrons. Imagine yourself, having a full blown conversation in a language other than English, in a predominant white neighborhood, with a great deal of tourist. Ordering beer, finding out the happy hour specials, ordering food, all in a language other than English. What would you expect? well, here's our experience review of the bar PERQS! it gets a TWO Star review ** All 4 of us sat at the bar area, after pointing that we wanted 2 "blue moon's" and asking for 2 "whisky con Coca-cola" our bartender took our order and walked away, only coming to our section if she needed to grab something but not necessarily to acknowledge that we were there or if we needed something. After waiting a while for her to come back to our area, we called out to her and asked about happy hour specials "los especiales" she straight out did not even tried to make a bit of effort, to even try to understand what we were saying. In a loud tone of voice looking at each one of us with her hands wide open and up in the air she said "Somebody translate". Immediately alienated us from the rest of the bar, needed less to say at time she lost her tip. The guy sitting next to me said to her she wants to know the specials; she said okay, so she said them and walked away. This white, blue eye older gentlemen was more willing to interact with us than the bar tender. I would not recommend this place if you did not brought somebody with you that at least spoke some English. The reason I'm giving this bar two stars, is because the price of drinks are good. $15 dollars for 4 drinks pretty darn good. But damn talk about alienating people. read more

Dear Perq's, We came here to spend some time with some friends. Thought it was a nice bar to just hang out for a bit. Turned out to be a rude and full of racism type of bar. This random drunk idiot came up to our Caucasian friend randomly and tells him let's take it outside. Really? This same idiot is the one to get all up in my face. Kicking the Asians out and letting back the drunk idiot that started something with us first! This bar has no respect whatsoever. They pretended to kick out the drunk idiot that got in my face and called me a b****, in returned I shoved my hands in his face after telling him to back off already. This guy had the damn nerves to tell our friends, that Asians shouldn't be in here. Come on, we are in 2014 and racism is just so damn ignorant. Instead of keeping this idiot racist guy out, you guys let him back in. I hope the owner does something about this whole racist thing we experienced here. I really hope Perq's reads this review and have a talk with his security guy at the door. One of the worst bar experience ever! I would not ever recommend this place to anyone, until Perq's changes their ways. P.S, reading all the other reviews about illegal tipping, we also experienced this. We paid in cash and the guy took it upon himself to charge more for the drinks and top himself. Save yourself the rudeness and racism experience from this place and head to the other bars on Main Street. read more

I just have to vent about this situation that happened last night, of which I've never experienced before. So as I was about to pay $5 to see an ok cover band I saw 2 dudes sporting Iowa jerseys, so I said "hey man I'm from Iowa too" , the fat ass bouncer then rudely interrupted and spouted "Iowa is a sh$thole" and ran his fat ass mouth off for about another minute. I was so shocked that I just walked away. I would understand any other dbag saying this, but a bouncer that works for Perq's? Here I am, a customer, about to support this fine institution and pay part of his fat-ass salary just to find that I'm rudely insulted by this douche. Who deserves that? Aside from the rude behavior this place pretty much sucks. When it's crowded and nowhere to sit the place turns into one long awkward high school hallway. The bartenders are nice, as they gave me the ass end of a PBR keg for free, yay. The cover bands I see everywhere are so redundant . I'm sick of hearing the same stuff I hear on the radio 100 times a day, what happened to originality? Anyway don't go here, unless you want to be insulted by a bouncer. read more

On Saturday i went into perqs during the airshow and experienced the rudest service ive ever had. The bartender was so mean to me and my friends. She poured us the wrong beers and got mad when we said something. We watched her as we finished our beer and she was so crazy. I dont know if she was drunk or what but her behavior and how she treated us and other customers was so out of line that we will never return. I asked another worker her name as I left because I knew I had to put this review and he said she was Jaye and she was the manager. Manager???? I couldnt believe my ears. This person couldn't really be the manager? How could the owners let someone like that run their establishment. This made me sick. Hopefully she doesn't continue to treat customers like dirt!! Please read. So I went there a few weeks back to hear a friend play in her band. Got a seat at the bar just after the band started playing. It was not screaming loud. Anyway the bartender that looks like Bluto and his friend seated next to me started yelling back and forth and the bartender spit on my twice in the face. I covered my beer and asked the bartender why he was yelling and would he please stop spitting on me. His good friend turned to me and yelled " I am going to kick your +++ right now. " I picked up my beer and began to move to change seats and Bluto called security and they tossed me out. I am a 60 year old man with no axe to grind. I stood outside and listened to the rest of the set outside the front window. The moral. If Bluto spits on you....don't complain. read more

This is a pretty decent little bar that is different from most of the bars in Huntington. For you gents out there if you like older women this is the bar for you. I've pulled a few older ladies here without much effort which is always nice. Granted they weren't that attractive but it was good times nonetheless. It's a good bar to go to if the lines at all the "cool" spots are long. It's really down to earth and mellow. The drinks are pretty stiff and not measured out like Sharkeez. On the weekend they have live music which means they usually charge $5-10 bucks cover. You can usually haggle with the guy at the door though. The live music is hit or miss but is usually pretty mediocre. read more

Perqs is the looser on this one. Porcupine Soldiers is an awesome band. Perqs has blamed them for the drunk people in their bar? Try looking at your bartenders and your bouncers. There were too many drunk people, 3 people took bad falls, One of their drunk customers abused the drums while band was on break. Bouncers did nothing but allow him to return. Pergs owes this band an apology. The band members were not the drunk people. They play great music that gets the customers up and dancing. Again, Perqs is the looser on this one. read more

I would give a no star if I could! Discrimination, no food, will kick you out for no reason as the loser next to you is sexually harassing you! Lots of drugs in and out of there and just gross! Beware and go to Longboards or Aloha Grill. They are clean, treat you with respect and have food! Sandbar is good too! Perqs is dirty and the manager (Jay) hates all woman! I came here with my buddies from England and it was the worst experience I could give them. The bartender (asian with tattoos) was so rude I couldnt believe it. She was cussing at people and she gave us the wrong drinks and when we didnt tip her as much as she expected she started yelling. Totally the worst service I have ever had as a local here. My buddies felt awkard and didnt get a good first impression of HB. I will never go here again. GET A BETTER STAFF! read more

Perqs can be a ton of fun if you are in the right mood. If you are looking for your next ex-husband, stay away. The crowd is older and a little drunker than most. However, Perqs was recently remodeled and is reasonably clean (read that not very clean but good for a dive bar). Great local bands playing the songs we all know and $4 - $5 well drinks most nights make it my last stop most night out. read more

The staff acts like pre madonnas. They act as if that dirty, smelly dive bar were some special "privilege" to be allowed in, and it is the Mecca of bartenders...if your life goals are to be in a yt boy reggae band and be the bartender of a dive bar, and you act like hot sh.. then more power to you for aiming so high! Hadn't been here in a few years. The doorman is a JERK. Super rude to my buddies who were all clearly over 50! Seems like he's treating anyone over 40 badly, age discrimination! VERY rude to my sister as well. I mean, what's this guys issue? Low self esteem! Saw him go through another ladies small purse like she's smuggling in a knife. This is the place all the douche bag losers that partied their butt's off in Seal Beach back in the 80's and played hacky sack by the HB pier hang out nowadays... don 't forget the vietnam vets... I visited Perqs on Saturday night for the first time in many years and had an awesome time! Wonderful location, great drink specials, attentive bartenders and was very impressed with the band they had that night! I was delightfully surprised to find the restrooms to be clean, unlike many other bars in the area. Overall, this is a great place and I love supporting them! read more

I like some of the cover bands they get, but it's old man central at this bar. Perqs is technically the only bar in downtown (because they don't have a kitchen). The drinks are reasonably priced. The place smells like old people. read more

Mellow, locals during happy hour, quite. If you come past 8/9 pm, especially on the weekends or during bigger sports events, it is a zoo. The demographic changes drastically, while you can still find locals, it is overshadowed by a much younger crowd (I'd guess 21-25). The music is often unbearably loud and makes it almost impossible to converse with someone even sitting right next to you.
