I am so impressed with Edda for many reasons, I went in to have my upper eye liner and eyebrows done yesterday and couldn't be happier with the results. She is the makeup whisperer. What I mean is that I explained what I wanted in words, feeling really nervous we'd have a hard time getting to a point where she truly understood what I wanted and trusted she'd deliver. However, immediately she pointed to a picture of eye liner and asked me if that's what I wanted. Yes! It was exactly what I wanted. Next came the eyebrows. Now I have hair already and just need a bit of definition. I'm a natural type of girl and don't like to look made up unless it's quite intentional. So when she gave me a mirror to look at the brows she drew, I was floored. It looked so natural and yet, so perfectly drawn. I can never draw my brows like that! I made a minor modification and she shared her opinion and why she wouldn't make that change, but ultimately made me feel comfortable that my decision was what she would implement. I spent a lot of time driving home trying to put into words why it's so hard to choose a person to do permanent makeup for you. I came up with the word "Trust". You are putting your trust in a person to listen and understand your wishes, be able to remain objective and ultimately have the talent and artistry to deliver. Edda has all of these qualities and more. I will rave about her to anyone who will listen (and have already sent all of my friends a picture of her work). Here is the process for those who may want a step by step of what to expect: 1) Fill out paperwork and review any risks and discuss what you want done. 2) Edda will review her equipment and the sterile practices she has. She'll open the needles for the procedure in front of you. 3) For eye liner she didn't need to draw it on first because we agreed on a clear photo. a) cleanse the eye. b) exfoliate the eye: This isn't comfortable. She is scraping at the tender skin on your eyes. But it's very bearable and it's over quickly. c) Apply lidocaine to lid to numb it. d) Use the needle with color to mark the lid so she knows where to apply color after full numbing is completed. e) Use the needle to open up the pores so that lidocaine can be applied again for further numbing. This will cause minor swelling which is why she needs to mark the lid with color prior. f) apply the color. The hardest part of this is that you must relax your eyelid and it's truly a mind over matter. Edda will continuously talk to you letting you know when you are tensing or fluttering the lid. This wasn't comfortable but it was only painful in spots and it was very bearable. This is also where trust comes into play because it feels odd to have a needle that close to your eyeball. g) at some point during the procedure she will stop and ask you to look. Your eyes will be puffy but you'll be able to tell if she's on the right track. She was with me so she kept going. 4) for eyebrows she drew it first and then we talked through a minor tweak. She had me get up and look in a mirror and she looked at me from far away to study whether it looked right. She made sure there was agreement and I was completely comfortable before we kept going. The eyebrows aren't painful at all but they may make you sneeze and your nose may run a bit. Mine did. Once again she stopped to get my feedback a few times. After she gave me a little care package with instructions and a hug. So sweet. I'll see her again in a few weeks to get any touchups and can't wait to see the final result (I will post here if I can figure it out). read more

I have had my eyebrows done three times in the past 14 years. Until yesterday, I was never really satisfied....they didn't match is size or shape. My application of brow pencil only seemed to make it worse, and I was always embarrassed. Living in the middle of NH, we don't have permanent make-up artists nearby, so I went on the Web, looked at lots of pictures, and read lots of reviews. I was able to get an appointment at my desired location (Reading) within two weeks. The salon was lovely and clean. Edda had everything set up in the room before I went in. We talked about my current brows and what my expectations were. She and I carefully chose the color and the technique I desired of having subtle individual hair like strokes, rather than a 'fill in'. I then laid on the comfortable table and Edda spent considerable time planning. Edda used a compass for accuracy, something not other had used. She outlined the planned brows with a surgical pen and then I sat up with a mirror and we talked about how they looked. I couldn't think of anything to change! Then she went to work. At first, Edda did not use numbing cream, and it was a little uncomfortable, but not intolerable. After she did the outline on the right side, she put numbing cream on it and outlined the left side. (She put the numbing cream on the left after the outline was done.) After this, I felt nothing while she worked her magic. After she was almost done, I again sat up and she asked me what I thought. She encouraged me to be totally honest, and I felt very comfortable making a tweek to add a little to the inside edge. Edda notices a tiny irregularity to one of the borders (something I don't think I ever would have noticed), and I laid back down for a little more work. I am thrilled with the results! My eyebrows are beautiful and even. Before I had to tilt my glasses to make the uneveness less noticeable, but the minute I put my glasses on straight, my eyebrows were symmetrical! First time in 14 years! The tiny hairlike brushstrokes are beautiful. I couldn't be more pleased. I also liked that Edda had me make my follow up appointment before I left. This will ensure that I will have my new beautiful brows for years to come! I would recommend Edda without reservation. She is a professional who listens to her client and gives them what they want. I first saw Edda 7 years ago, after having a botched full-lip color (permanent makeup) done. Ironically, the woman who did that, was an ER nurse in a prominent Boston hospital! There were big blotches of color in some places on my lips and no color in others. I HAD to wear lipstick to cover up the mess that this other woman had done. With almost 4 visits (she is a perfectionist like me!), Edda completely fixed them and they looked fantastic. I was so pleased, I went on to have my upper eye liner done as well - and that is STILL looking great. Between those two procedures, I ended up referring 2 friends to her - one ended up doing her full lips and eye liner, the other just her full lips - and both were happy with their results. The first friend and I are now back to see Edda, 7 years later, for a refresher. My lip liner is still great, but the lips themselves have faded because I spend a lot of time outdoors (live on a beach). My friend's lips still look just like they did when she first had them done, but her eyeliner has faded (perhaps because she chose blue originally? my black still looks great). I really like that her prices all INCLUDE a touch-up and she'll take a credit card if necessary. She is a lovely person, very patient and soothing (after all, this stuff hurts!!). Her office is very clean, and furnished with equipment that makes me feel like she has a serious investment in doing this. It is located just a couple of minutes off the highway with ample parking in the back. (Kind of an odd building from the outside, shared with some other offices, so keep your eyes open for the sign). Edda is highly skilled, having completed quite a few training/certifications so you are in good hands.But training isn't everything...you want someone who has been doing this a long time and does it as their primary occupation - not some "add-on" service that a salon offers. Lots of people claim to be good at this - Edda IS. This is your FACE and it is PERMANENT so choose wisely! read more

I met Edda today for the 1st time to have my non existent eyebrows micro bladed. I had researched her business prior to making the appointment. Her facility is very calming and as sterile as you can get when it comes to your procedure. She explained every part of the process to me, and showed me what she would be using. Everything was sterile and disposable, and she opened the package in front of me so I would see it. I am a nurse and work in a hospital, so I could see Edda is very familiar with sterile technique. She placed an OR cap on each of our heads, and she also wore a gown and gloves. She placed some lidocaine on my eyebrow area for 20 minutes, drew out the outline of the eyebrows, consulted with me, made a little change and we were ready to go. We had already decided on the color. I didn't really keep track of the time, but I think the actual procedure was about 20 minutes. The rest of the time was discussion, answering my questions, and gabbing about my family. I felt like she was part of MY family when I left, I felt that comfortable with her, especially since I had just met her. Oh...........and I now HAVE eyebrows that you can see!!!! I am happy with the shape and color!!! I am to go back in 4 weeks when Edda will check them out, and if anything needs retouching, she will take care of it! The first thing you notice with Edda is her professionalism - from how she deals with you on the initial call, through the consultation and follow-ups. The second thing is her focus on cleanliness. Her office is absolutely pristine which instills a lot of confidence. You are getting permanent work done to your face so you want to make sure that you are dealing with a very professional, competent person who understands the importance of cleanliness - Edda is all of that and more. She takes the time you need to make sure you understand everything that is going to be done and that you are comfortable with it. She is an absolute artist and perfectionist and does not stop until SHE is satisfied that it is the best that it can be. She is extremely clear on what you need to do for taking care of the affected areas after you leave. I did not have any questions when I left. I am absolutely delighted with my results. I am a breast cancer survivor that lost most of my eyebrows as a result of the cancer treatment. I have struggled for years to get brows on that look ok. Now I have brows that look FABULOUS thanks to Edda. My biggest concern after how they were going to look - was the pain. Surprisingly, I did it without any numbing. Looking now, I don't see it. Therefore, let me begin by saying my entire experience with Edda Garcia was excellent. Office cleanliness, superb. Procedure: was explained to me before we began my treatment as well as the aftercare. I returned in November for her to make sure I was healing correctly and whether or not I was happy with the results. I asked her to fill them in just a little more, and she complied (your second visit is built into the price you're paying for your initial visit). After two months, I decided I wanted a little more fill in certain areas. I met up with her again last week of January. I love how my eyebrows turned out. So happy I finally went to have them done. It knocks at least 20 minutes off my morning race. Probably won't have to go back for another touch up for at least a year, maybe two. Edda did a terrific job. I had my upper Eyeliner done by Edda Garcia, at her Avon office, and let me tell you, Edda is wonderful. Her office gives you the confidence that you are walking into a clean and well maintained environment for the type of work she does. At first I was very afraid of the procedure, even though my Mom and sister who had her upper and lower eye liner done by Edda told me that there was nothing to be afraid of. It took me awhile to make the decision of doing it, but it is one of the best decisions ever!! When I went for my consultation Edda took the time to sit down and explain to me, step by step what she would be doing, what I was going to feel, what the results were going to be and how to take care of my eyes after the procedure. She walked me through her office and I could clearly see that all the equipment is sterilized, no fear of cross contamination because of how clean her office is, which to me is a big deal. I recommend Edda to everyone that is interested in permanent make up, or any other procedures she does. Not only is she great at her work but she is a wonderful person that will treat you with respect and listen to what your desires are. I went to see Edda approximately one month ago for permanent eyeliner. Prior to this, I did A LOT of research. Of course, permanent make up is a big deal and I didn't want to go to just anyone with a needle and some ink (they are out there, beware). I was very nervous about the entire process. Edda was warm, kind, informative but, most of all, PATIENT. Edda helped me decide exactly how I wanted my eyeliner to look. I am not going to lie, it hurt a bit. Edda continuously stopped and reassured me and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The entire process took about an hour. After a couple of days any swelling I had was gone and I had the eyeliner I had hoped for. I scheduled my follow up for a month later. When I walked in she asked me if I thought I needed a touch up, I said no, I thought it looked great. She agreed but took a good long look at my eyes. After a few minutes of looking she though one side needed just a bit of a touch up. I thought it looked perfect but being the perfectionist she is, she saw something I did not. The touch up took only a few minutes and today I have gorgeous permanent eyeliner. I highly recommend Edda Garcia and would go back in a heartbeat should I decide to do another procedure. read more

Very well deserved review. I have been dealing with unruly eyebrows for the last 3 years. From waxing to plucking to falling out and regrowing- my problems have been endless. For many years I had contemplated permanent eyebrows and eyeliner. Edda Garcia was recommended by a friend as she had had her eyebrows and eyeliner made permanent by her and highly recommended her work!!!! Edda is a very kind, friendly and gentle person and these qualities are manifest in her artristry. She is very professional seen in a very clean work area, sterile implements that she shows you before the work, timely hand washing, comfortable, paper protected surface to lie on, etc. She also provides appropriate follow-up appointments and does any touch ups necessary, if any. What a relief it was to finally find a professional, experienced, and personable permanent makeup artist! After a bad experience years ago with one I went to for my eyebrows/eyeliner, and after hearing not-so-pleasant experiences from others in various places, I decided to check out Edda's advertisement. She impressed me with answering the phone right away, was very professional and efficient in taking down my information and scheduled me according to my schedule. After meeting her, I felt relieved that I would be in good hands, and she proved to be so! She was very attentive and detailed and let me watch in the mirror every stroke she made to my eyebrows, to make sure it was exactly the way I wanted them! After much research, I decided that I would give Edda Garcia Permanent Makepup a try. She had the experience and positive reviews, but what really made me choose her were the before and after photos. I had several procedures done previously and I knew what I wanted and what to expect. The only unknown was Edda's actual work itself. Let me save you a lot of time and money...don't go anywhere else because Edda is the best. If only I had someone to guide me along initially, it would have saved me a lot of trouble. I decided to have Edda do my permanent eyebrows and eyeliner after reading her reviews, credentials and viewing the before and after photos on her website. I didn't have to wait long for an appointment which was a big plus. (I called on Thursday and Friday I was at my appointment) She explained everything in detail and answered all my questions. The pain was more of a discomfort and after the initial shock of having someone working so close to your eyes, I got used to it. After all, what is beauty without a little pain? Edda gave me a mirror while she worked to let me see how I liked the results every so often. She even used a caliper to measure each side of my eyes to confirm evenness! I recently visited her salon with my mother to have her eyebrows tattooed for her birthday. They came out amazing! From start to finish, Edda was very courteous and respectful. She consulted with us several times (when drawing and tattooing) regarding the shape of each eyebrow to ensure that they were tattooed to our liking. She kept her work area very clean and sterile and even wore sterile scrubs during the process. I was nervous but she put me at ease and listened to all my questions and concerns. She was so patient,caring and very professional. I love it! As a first time customer both at Edda's and for the eyebrow permanent makeup procedure, I relied heavily on the reviews, which were all positive. I'm glad I did, because I am now a 100% satisfied customer, sporting my new, full eyebrows. Love them! The procedure was quick, and for me, not very painful at all! And once the numbing cream was added, couldn't even feel it! Edda was extremely warm and professional and I suspect I might be trying the eyeliner next now that I have one procedure under my belt, or rather, above my eyes (wink).
