Periwinkle Place Shops is widely recognized and makes it so easy to find almost everything in one stop. The Shops offer a variety of women clothing stores to suit almost every taste, there are children+toy stores, eateries, a souvenir shop (and not a cheesy one either)- to name a few. While this place isn't flashy with De La Renta, Karan and the like, the clothing stores- for instance, are exclusive in their own tasteful Sanibel way. Some clothing can be too pink and turquoise for me (think of Vineyard Vines), but then there's the other side of Sanibel that's almost clean-cut with a minimalist feel. As was the case when I purchased 3 different minimalist-styled tops from two of the women's clothing stores in the plaza. Parking is a breeze. Grounds are immaculate. Take your time and venture to the 2nd floor also. In the many years hubs and I've been coming to the island, bringing gifts home has always been easy. read more

Periwinkle Place Shops is a fun place to browse and shop. My favorite places to stop are Fresh Produce, Fantasea, Sea Glass Lane, Butterfly Beach, Naples Soap Company, & Sand Castle Gifts, & Gourmet. I have also eaten at Blue Giraffe which is nice and also has a dog friendly outside patio. You can simply walk around to see the stores. In addition, they have a pretty grassy area with nice landscaping, a pretty fountain, kids's playground, and right by the Butterfly Beach Store there is a small statue of a seahorse. I love taking pics there with the pretty flowers. read more

In just two hours or so, you can hit a good number of different galleries or shops that offer home decor, t-shirts of souvenirs, even a small restaurant. Everything is under cover, perfect for protection from those famous Florida rain showers and the blazing sun. read more

Very cute little plaza with unique gift shops. There is a public bathroom which is an awesome place to change out of a wet swimsuit after a day on the beach. They also offer free Wi-Fi. My favourite store in Perriwinkle Place is Butterfly Beach, which has a great selection of beach wear for men and women. read more

Make a point to break away from the heat and do a little shopping in Periwinkle Place. There are specialty shops and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else. I used to take everyone who visited here. They also participate during the Sanibel Luminaries in December. You can find everything from ice cream to fine jewelry here! This little shopping center is located on the beautiful island of Sanibel. This is directly Periwinkle which is one of the main roads on the island. Whenever we visit the island, once a year, we always take one day for shopping and it always includes a stop here. Some of these shops have been there for 20+ years, I remember going in them when I was young. They are mostly unique and specialty island shops. Clothing, jewelry, shoes, a toy shop, the original Chico's (my mom's favorite) along with some others. They do have new shops that have only been in there for the last few years, such as the olive oil shop and also the bath store which has those fun bath bombs. It is a nice place to stroll and shop. I do feel that the prices are very high and every year seem to get even higher. I understand that it is an island so pretty much everything on Sanibel is expensive but some stores I believe are just not worth the price. I will mention there is a shop that sells Pandora and I believe it is the only one of the island that has a Sanibel Pandora charm! Of course I had to buy it! They do have a restaurant , Blue Giraffe, (please see my review in my Sanibel/Captiva list) so as you are shopping you can stop for a bite to eat. All in all this is a cute little shopping center to stop at on a hot day. There is plenty of parking both in the front and the back. Certain times of the year they do have sales where you can get some great prices. I would definitely check it out on your trip to Sanibel. read more

I don't know if I ever saw such a big shopping center. Jewelry stores, souvenir stores, clothing stores, and even a restaurant are on site. I only looked into a few stores and was impressed by the selection. The coolest thing of all is the two plazas. Both are surrounded by buildings that contain stores feature benches and a water fountain area to relax in. There's also a garden to attract humming birds and butterflies and a playground. read more

Sanibel is simply not cheap when it comes to dining. However, when shopping is concerned, Periwinkle Place was beyond affordable! We were there over Labor Day weekend and took advantage of the sidewalk sale. Even items that weren't on sale were reasonably priced for a place that attracts a lot of tourists. I purchased three pairs of sunglasses at $8 each, two bracelets for $14 each, two purses (one was $17, the other was $14), and earrings for $9 and $8. None of these items were on sale! I visited another shopping village over on the corner of Tarpon Bay Rd and Periwinkle (where Island Paws and the Over Easy Cafe are located). There, you'll find much higher prices at the boutiques for similar items. Patronize all of the local businesses, but note that you'll pay less at Periwinkle Place. read more

This is a must go-to when visiting Sanibel Island! My mom and I went here our second trip to Sanibel and just LOVED it. This is the place to go to when looking for souvenirs for others or yourself. The grounds are beautiful and there are plenty of places to sit if you get tired. There's a nice butterfly garden along with a water fountain you can sit at and enjoy. The shops could be a bit spendy but the stuff there was worth it. My personal favorite was Butterfly Beach. There's a store for all! The only downside was a bad encounter with a rude store associate, but other than that the people were friendly. read more

So, we've gone almost every year for at least the last 6 years (same time of year). Usually the fountains are running, sometimes live music in the courtyard even. The stores seemed a little run down. Some had downsized. Really hope this isn't a sign of the future of this center; as it is a family tradition. They have a little something for almost everyone: T-shirts, Art, footwear, original Chicos, Fresh Produce, toy store, soap shop, sunglasses (Maui Jim's), etc. Even a spot to grab a beer for the shoppers or their spouses! read more

This is a cute, little shopping center on Sanibel. There are the usual T-shirt and souvenir shops; however there a couple of unique shops that offer local artwork and locally made items. The olive oil/basalmic vinegar store was really interesting, too bad we were flying home the next day otherwise I'd have purchased something to cook dinner on the beach! read more

Visited here for the first time. I have to say that the grounds are really lovely! Benches to sit, fountains, flowers and even a playground for the kids. They thought of everything! Ate at blue giraffe (attentive service) and shopped in my favorite store Fantasea (we have one near me too). I'll be back again now that I found my go-to Sanbiel shopping! read more

Don't waste your time. Supposed to be the best shopping on sanibel? Weird shops selling overpriced nonsense only kept in business by grandparents buying terrible Christmas gifts for their family. Better things to do with your time. read more
