I am so incredibly grateful to Judy Carroll for her devotion, expertise, and deep dental wisdom. I came to Judy after struggling to find any dentists or specialists to clear an infection on tooth 28. It was oozing a little pus and no one seemed confident in clearing it. I even had an "endoscopy" cleaning from another dentist and it did not work. They did not do nearly the job that Judy Carroll did. Judy did full mouth anethesia and took nearly 3 hours to clean out all 4 quandrants of my mouth. She was thorough, committed, and has given me numerous resources to get at the cause (occlusion being a big one). I flew out from CA to see her and boy was I grateful I did. The dental establishment is too quick to pull teeth and place implants (where possible). This is the bread and butter of periodontics and there's no downside for the practitioners. I've sat in waiting rooms and watched young people, 30 years old, leaving the office having had every single tooth pulled. It's a miserable and irreversible experience that can practically ruin a person's life. What's worse, pulling teeth doesn't even address the cause of the disease, nor stop it. The pathogens and inflammation in the mouth continue to eat away at the bone and gum tissue. Thirteen or 14 years ago, I went to several nationally renowned periodontists, and they all said I needed to have something like eight teeth extracted. Terrified, I researched online and found PerioPeak, traveled to Washington, had the treatment, and here I am 14 years later, and I still have all those teeth. Judy is an amazing clinician and one of the few dental professionals that understands the pathology of gum disease. Her treatment modality, Regenerative Periodontal Endoscopy (RPE), is truly an effective and non-invasive procedure and is far less expensive than conventional periodontal surgery. I've battled periodontal disease and gum recession for years and was ready to give up my fight before finding Judy. Previous dentists told me that losing my teeth was inevitable and that the disease was beyond my control. In 2012 I had a procedure done on my gums because of deep pockets, my dentist suggested gum surgery and gave me a referral....the cost 17,000 dollars. So I started looking for alternatives to that because I couldn't afford it. I found Periopeak who offered an alternative to gum surgery so I flew out to Seattle from Chicago to have the procedure done in December 2012 it was a one day procedure....Long story short it worked, My gums healed and began to reattach to the teeth and reduced the pockets from 4mm to 7mm Down to 2mm to 4mm and have stayed there with 2 to 3 cleanings a year. Very disappointed after seeing several years of X-rays, 6 months b4 RPE procedure, 6 months later then lastly 1.5 yrs following. After paying $2K, I felt I should have seen more improvement, sadly I do not . I cannot recommend this procedure, Judy was all sweet in the beginning but because I was nervous I moved a bit more, she became annoyed. Frankly, her mannerism towards the end of procedure made it, "I cannot get out of here fast enough"! She should guarantee her work, I feel like asking for my Money Back. I found Judy through a Google search after my dentist told me I need $10,000 (out of my own pocket) of gum surgery. It would take 4 sessions of 4 hours a piece. I got in touch with Judy and found she could use a new method that my dentist, who's been doing this for 30 years he told me, had never heard of. He checked with his gum surgeon friends who told him it was 'snake oil'. Well considering my dentist didn't seem to have learned anything new in 30 years, and that the experts he checked with get paid to do it the old way, I decided to give Judy a go. The testimonials on her site seemed real enough (one of them is mine) and her cost would be about $3,000. Plus I could get it done in 1 session. I visited my dentist after 6 months and he admitted my gums were much better. It's now been 2.5 years and my gums are in excellent shape. I went to see Judy 2 years ago for the RPE therapy for severe periodontal disease. I had pockets of up to 9mm and laser therapy with my local dentist had done nothing to help. After a local dentist suggesting full mouth extractions as my best route forward, I found Judy through a Google search. I was skeptical to begin with- it sounded too good to be true. I'll start with... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND JUDY CARROLL!!! A dentist I saw about 2 years ago diagnosed me with advanced gum disease and referred me to a periodontist for treatment. The periodontist recommended periodontal laser therapy for $5900. At a followup appointment 3 months after the therapy I was told there was no improvement and that the laser treatment should be repeated or opt for the more invasive gum surgery at about the same cost. I was also told the prognosis was not good. Since he was not encouraging about the success of more treatment I asked about dental implants. Frankly, I got the feeling I was going to need repeated treatments with no real assurances of success. I was completely discouraged! Before committing to gum surgery I decided to do a little research online. At first I was looking for similar stories and what the outcomes were like. As I suspected, many people talked about having to repeat the laser treatments multiple times with little improvement. Then I started looking for options... and I found Judy Carroll! A couple years ago I was diagnosed with terrible periodontal disease through my whole mouth. I was 38 yo with excellent oral hygiene, non-smoker, but my gums were that of a 60 yo smoker who didn't know what a toothbrush was. I was having bone recession. My dentist had previously had me see a periodontal surgeon who had already cut one quadrant of my mouth. The periodontist couldn't tell which quadrant had already had the procedure, but now wanted to do the same thing in all four quadrants! It was going to cost a lot of money and I didn't see the point since it obviously hadn't worked. It wasn't gong to address what was causing the horrible inflammation. My wonderful hygienist discovered Judy while doing some research and suggested that I look into it. I ended up flying to Washington for the procedure. I figured it was worth a shot. Judy and her office was great. She was honest that the procedure would help clean up the roots, but there was something else going on. I had been on the Periostat, but there was still terrible inflammation. I had already seen an MD for testing for certain diseases - thyroid, etc which was all normal. I wanted to do a Yelp review of "PerioPeak Innovations" in hopes that this may help someone else. If you're reading this, you may probably have found yourself in the same situation I was in with periodontal disease. I had pockets all around my mouth and quite a few of them in double digits, meaning 10 MM + deep, I had one pocket at a 12! I went to a periodontal dentist she said I needed Flap surgery to clean the deep pockets. This procedure was going to cost $11,000 and my dental insurance was only going to cover $1,700! Basically I needed to come up with $9000 more of my pocket to pay for the surgery. After getting a second opinion in hearing basically the same thing I decided to try and find an alternative.... When I found the PerioPeak website I couldn't believe the results from the clinicals. The before and after as we're just amazing without having to go through the surgery. Not only that but this procedure was $7000 less!!!! Long story made short I just had my six month checkup after having the procedure done. My results are very similar to the ones you see on PerioPeak's web site. The really deep severe pockets that were 9s 10s & 11s are now 3s 4s and 5s!!! the smaller pockets that were lest sever are now all 2s and 3s! I am SO happy with the results! JUDY IS AMAZING! I am 27 years old and was just diagnosed with aggressive periodontist. The specialist I went to see said they wanted to pull my front 10 teeth because they were "no hope teeth" since they had some movement and some bone loss. Then I would get partial dentures if they worked. Next it was probably going to have root planing where they cut open your gums and scratch the bacteria out then re close the gums. This is not guaranteed to fix the problem. Then when my gum pockets were low enough we could try a bone graft which may or may not take then talk about implants. 27 YEARS OLD and they want to take away my smile, because there is no way I am going to want to flash my bare mouth. About 7 years ago, I was in serious trouble. I had been battling severe periodontal disease for many years. I was also very broke. I got an infection behind my front teeth and they started to shift so rapidly that I looked like a different person in a matter of months. I can't begin to explain how deeply depressing, hopeless, and terrifying it all was. My dentist had reached a point where he couldn't help me anymore, after numerous root planings and scalings. He recommended gum surgery. Because I was broke, I was sent to a dental school. They wanted to do one quadrant at a time, where I would be put under for 4 hours per quadrant, which would have been 16 hours knocked out in total!! That alone was a horrifying idea to me. A year since the procedure--my dentist took no new X-rays and he did not check pockets. He did say that I have no deep pockets. But my gums have receded considerably. He said that if I had had gum surgery to begin with to clean the root, they would have pulled my gums back up. He is referring me to a periodontist to pull up my gums because the root is exposed. Before I found regenerative periodontal endoscopy, I had a brutal blind deep cleaning with a careless dentist and was advised to maybe have surgery and an extraction, for my advanced periodontal diseases. After a lot of research, I founded it and decide to try with this more targeted and less invasive RPE method. Judy was very patient to answer my questions, help me review my medical background, and schedule my visit. The RPE treatment went well. Even better, she didn't just treat symptoms but also made efforts to track down to the root causes of my periodontal problems and to tackle them. Now after ~6 months, I have followed most of her recommendations and found them beneficial. I've learned from Judy that, like many other health issues, periodontal problem is not just a local teeth and gum problem. Instead it is reflection of genetics, nutrition, metabolism, immune system, and overall health status. I appreciate that dental or medical practitioners do not stop acquiring new knowledge and apply new discoveries and most advanced technologies to benefit patients from higher level. My periodontist recommended Gum Flap Surgery. Never one to blindly accept what I am told I did my research and thankfully found Periopeak. My experience with Judy could not have been better. I flew a long way to have this treatment and I was not disappointed. Even before I left Virginia Judy was very gracious with her time. We had a very long phone consultation which was free of charge. It is very refreshing to find someone who is not only focused on improving the current sitution but more importantly preventing future problems. If someone comes to Judy for treatment I don't know why they would think it was her job to refer a periodontist in their area.
