She told me that she just had a cancellation for Monday and to fill out the forms on the website. I was so happy to hear back so I can get help with chronic pain issues. Community acupuncture has been so helpful to me in the past but we've moved too far from another practice and needed to find a new one. Healing Space is only a mile away! The assistant then told me that the price was $105 for initial consult and $60 for future appts. I was confused because the website says 65/40. I asked about the discrepancy and was told that this was for private appts. Nowhere on the website do I see this listed so I asked for the community acupuncture fees and was told that there's a waiting list and it's a 'gazillion miles long'. I asked for the next appt and was told that they would 'add me to the waiting list'. This is clearly false advertising. If you can't honor the prices on your website, change it. If you can't return emails in over a week, then don't post your email address. 'Healing Space' made me feel a little worse.

Not to apologize and/or make up for the situation in any way, but to induce me to remove my review of the incident I experienced- a confusing attempt to schedule an appointment. I was upset and angered by this behavior, particularly as it was followed by two written attempts to further influence me. Those were removed immediately upon my stating if the harassment campaign didn't cease, I would report the incidents to Yelp. Since the business owner responded by removing his messages to me, I'm going on memory here, but these were long, rambling messages insisting I was damaging the lives of not only his office staff, but of their families and children. The hyper drama of this in relation to the review, of an attempt to make an appointment- not a condemnation of an actual treatment experience, was enough to make me wonder if the man was out of his mind and fear what else he might do if I didn't bend to his wishes. A frightening and upsetting experience due to someone who doesn't have things in perspective. If you don't want reviews like this, stop behaving like someone who might pose a threat.

She takes the time to figure out what factors are contributing to your problem and treats the ailment's source. Most pharmaceutical interventions treat only symptoms. Because of this, her treatment may take longer than you want or than you expect, but stick with it! If you do everything she says you will eventually feel better and for me it seems to be a more lasting and true wellness than would be possible without acupuncture. She is also a more comprehensive acupuncturist than many in the area. She doesn't just stick needles where you feel pain, she treats your body like it is one connected entity (because it is!), And treats the whole problem.

I had decompression and fusion on L3-4 and L4-5 in 2010 without significant resolution. I tried chiropractic and PT and spinal injections to no avail. After 14 treatments, I saw a small improvement in my symptoms and continued to get acupuncture weekly for the next 2.5 years with a complete resolution of All my symptoms which included rheumatoid arthritis pain as well. I could walk my dogs, shop in big box stores and NOT be in pain. Through Dr Yang's unique acupuncture treatment (treating the whole body) I was back to me. Dr Yang encouraged me to come in monthly for maintenance treatments. I didn't listen. I stopped acupuncture for 2.5 years, thinking I was cured forever and I did well for about 1.5 years and then the symptoms slowly began to return. Well, all of my symptoms returned-couldn't walk, etc. So I'm back in treatment twice per week and am feeling better. Moral of the story, acupuncture keeps your body in alignment especially when you have problems. Once I return to "no pain status" I will keep up a maintenance schedule with Dr Yang. Dr Yang is the best! Follow her instructions and you will be right as rain in no time. Angie R

Combining acupuncture with chiropractic care and a new physical therapist, I regained full mobility after my first PT group thought an arm extended parallel to the floor was good enough!! Short Take - Dr Belko is not your average Chiropractor by any stretch. Combining Chiropractic…read morecare, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with 20 years of practice, she is a practical and welcome change to the doctor that makes you wait, sees you for a few minutes and tells you to come back next week. Also note: Pay at the the time of service only. Insurance not accepted but they do give you a super-bill to submit to your insurance (or FSA reimbursement). DO NOT BE LATE. Long View - I wasn't given a direct referral to Dr. Belko. I had a problem with my shoulder that a PT could not easily solve and the PT suggested I seek Acupuncture. I'd seen a few billboards in SJ advertising doctors, and live close enough to Chinatown in Philadelphia to explore options. But something drew me to a red brick building with a somewhat small inconspicuous sign on Clements Bridge Road in Runnameade, maybe it was the carved wooden dragon on the side of the building. 12 years later, and I still cannot recommend this doctor enough. She is forthright and compassionate, practical and intuitive. She takes the time to listen to what is happening in your life, all the while noticing the inflections in your voice, the body language, and the nuances that set apart a healer from the the run of the mill doctor or chiropractor. A necessary note - DO NOT BE LATE. If you are more than 5 minutes late, you will have to reschedule your appointment. If this sounds unreasonable, consider the fact that you will never wait in her offices for your appt. She will see you at the time that was scheduled - really. I've been late few times, and even given the years that I have been going, I still had to reschedule. But the upside (and it's huge) is that she is never late for you, Dr Belko is a pay-at-the-time-of-service office. This means that you pay your bill directly and then you can submit to the insurance company or your FSA for reimbursement. The office does take debit cards if you have an FSA or MSA that provides you a debit card for your account. If this seems cumbersome, and I know some folks won't go to a doctor that does not take insurance, well, respect that the level of care is worth paying for it upfront.

I tend to be someone who typically goes to the doctors office when plagued by an issue, although now I find myself checking out alternative therapies more like acupuncture, chiropractic, meditation, etc. I also was a bit fearful of needles when I initially came here after a traumatic experience before a surgery, but I'm thrilled that my fear has really dissipated thanks to acupuncture! I now relax and lay back when the needles are being put in and I'm really amazed because recently I had to get a lot of blood drawn and I just relaxed, held my arm out and went to my Zen like place, which is really great! Before acupuncture, I would have been much more anxious and on edge. I not only have arthritis in my knee, which is my primary reason for coming to acupuncture but I also have chronic pain- a condition which affects the body with widespread pain and tenderness called fibromyalgia, which is a misunderstood and baffling illness. So, I'm coming to Healing Arts for both! I would much rather have a Zen like afternoon catnap where I can relax that take lots of medications. I may not be able to completely avoid the latter but whatever I can do holistically and naturally will definitely be my preference. While I may not ever be cured of these conditions completely, knowing that acupuncture can really help me manage my symptoms is invaluable! It's a great way of coping, a huge tool in my toolbox of coping strategies and I would personally much rather have acupuncture any day than get injections and have to take lots of pills. I tend to come about once a month and the first couple of times I noticed some soreness but I have found much better results as I keep going. Occasionally a little bruise or soreness may occur but the pain relief, motion and relief from stiffness in joints is really amazing and awesome! My knee feels much better after going this 3rd time, much more movement when it was pretty stiff. They also have a Yelp deal, check in offers and all in all is a relaxing experience- chill out on a massage bed with pillows, calming music, refreshing scents, dim lighting and yes, some privacy too from the Shoji screens. I have had 3 practitioners- Margaret, Holly and Steve, I thought they were all good, I prefer Steve but they were all good. I'll be back!

I accidentally came in a week early for appointment after writing it down wrong (oops!) but the staff at HACA were so kind and accommodating despite it being completely my mistake, and were able to fit me in for a great session. The place was really well set-up with rugs, heaters, and screens to separate patient treatment areas that are all within the same large room. Holly Prescott was the practitioner that day and she did a great job asking what I was there for and then placing needles so gently I hardly felt them. It's rare that I slip into the deep, almost sleep-like relaxation I felt during this treatment, but I was so completely relaxed that it came easily. Thanks for the great session Holly!
