I use to go to My Dentist, but they seemed to have joined forces with Perfect Smiles. Bigger establishment, more staff, still friendly. My only issue is, I had an appointment originally scheduled for 8 or 9 and I was asked to come in at 10:00, but I wasn't seen until 10:30...ummm if you weren't gonna see me until 10:30, I could have arrived at 10:30. Specifically: The billing dates do not match my actual dates of service. I have requested a detailed breakdown and corrected billing. I have not received a clear resolution or written explanation addressing the discrepancy. The outstanding balance continues to appear unresolved. I am requesting: A full, itemized statement explaining all charges. Confirmation that insurance was properly billed and processed. Correction of any improper billing. I was a transfer patient with Dr. Stratton and her wonderful team. Since her retirement, I have continued visiting Perfect Smiles because of Kelly and Elvina -- their care and professionalism are outstanding, and they truly make patients feel like family. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the front desk staff. The reception team is consistently rude, unhelpful, and nearly impossible to reach by phone. They enforce strict cancellation fees for less than 48 hours' notice, yet patients often cannot even get through to cancel or ask questions. I previously raised these concerns with Dr. Winters, but nothing has improved. Most recently, I called the office to share my concerns after experiencing an issue following a procedure. No one answered, and I couldn't leave a voicemail. When I finally reached someone, the receptionist was shockingly rude. She insisted on my birthdate when I only asked to speak with the office manager or Dr. Winters and said my phone number was sufficient. Instead of assisting me, she hung up. This kind of behavior has sadly become a pattern with the reception team -- unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacking in patient care. It's clear that the reception staff either need thorough retraining or replacement. As of today, I still have not received a call back. It feels as though patient wellbeing is secondary to the office's policies and billing practices. The providers are excellent, but the front desk drags down the entire patient experience. Until the reception issue is addressed, I cannot recommend this office. They will most likely respond saying that I should call them; however, I have. Hygienist Dee is great and Dr. Stratton is too but the office is abominably managed. This also follows a filling debacle by that same dentist that took 2 other dentists & 4 tries to get right last year, which is when the improperly fitted crowns was identified as such. I made an appointment Friday afternoon for Monday at 1:30pm. I arrived at said scheduled appointment today at 1:00pm Monday May 19. When I got there the redhead told me that my appointment was at 2:00pm I showed her the text and she stumbled over her words and just said it was at 2:00pm. I took my seat as she said that I would possibly be let back sooner since I arrived early even though 1:30pm was my scheduled appointment and since I just needed my crown put back on I figured it wouldn't take that long. As I sat down waiting to be seen it was then 1:45pm when a white woman came in to be seen and she was seated for approximately 2 minutes after coming through the door and her name was already called. After witnessing this I got up and just rescheduled for 9:30 Tuesday, hopefully they'll actually see me at 9:30. I literally just need my crown put back on. Also the chubby brunette who looks like a cabbage patch doll who sits next to the redhead acted as if she couldn't open her mouth to speak to me and just kept looking at me whenever I asked a question directly to her only for the redhead to answer me. Prepaid for Invisalign in November, 2023. After going in multiple times for impressions, I was finally scheduled for an appointment to start treatment in March of 2024. On the way to the appointment, I got a call from the office cancelling because the trays still weren't in! A month later, 5 months after laying in full, the trays still weren't in. Out of frustration, I asked for a refund so I could start Invisalign with another, more responsive and professional dentist. I was told yes, that it would take a few weeks to process. After calling back several times, I still have no refund. It's been 8 months and I'm out thousands of dollars plus no Invisalign! The office manager, Nicole, has never contacted me herself. All messages go through the front desk. I do not recommend this dental practice and think my next option is to contact an attorney to get my money back. read more

I did not have a good experience at this office on 106 and western in Chicago Illinois. The quality of care was not up to standard. I had to keep coming back in order to get things correct but not on the first try and then they want you to pay everything off before your procedure is done and they don't give you all of the information that you may need Especially with with payment and then they want to add more payments on after you start things I don't feel that this is not correct and I want to I don't want to pay for everything upfront and then have other payments added onto me. I have been going to Perfect Smiles for several years now. The unfortunate aspect is that Perfect Smiles moves its general practice dentists around, or they choose to leave the practice. I have had 3 different GPs in the last 6 years. On the plus side, I feel they've all been very good young dentists, with just enough experience added to good educational backgrounds to provide excellent dentistry. I never get the feeling that I am being upsold or being offered services that I don't really need. Indeed, when I had a periodontal problem with an implant, the periodontist provided additional service without charge. The office staff has improved, but there's still room for further improvement on the front desk. The problem may be with the fact that there seems to be a lack of communication between the particular office's staff and the corporate billing and accounting functions. Hence the 3 stars. The service is good, but there are too many issues with the staff and billing. Yesterday, I called to pay my final bill because I am never going back. I disputed an x-ray and was told that it could have been removed, but since my attitude was bad, I was out of luck. I asked the staff member to please stop speaking over me, so I guess that's considered having a bad attitude. This is the second billing issue I've had with them, so shame on me for returning, but it will not happen again. If you choose this practice, you will receive decent dental service, but you have to make sure that you aren't overcharged and if you are don't have a bad attitude about it. Exceptional service, everyone was pleasant and courteous. Dr. Winters was extraordinary although he couldn't remove my painful tooth because i had an infection but he assured me if i take the antibiotic and return he would take care of me. I am extremely grateful for this place because due to the covid 19 pandemic my original dental office had no PPE and was not seeing patients but Perfect Smile took me with open arms. No they don't except HMO insurance but I was willing to pay cash to get rid of the awful pain. I recommend this place to all. The office is super clean yes you will have to wash your hands and rinse your mouth before service but that's for their protection as well as yours during this crisis. Two stars only because the dentist I had seen, Dr. Rodriguez, was wonderful. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the front staff. My appointment to have a permanent crown out in was canceled only after I already arrived, despite the office having confirmed with me the day before. At the same time I was told that my dentist would only be there a couple more weeks. I've been fighting to get an appointment now for the past week. They offer one morning slot, which I cannot take because it's difficult to get time off of work on short notice, or I can wait for an appointment with a random new dentist. Our dentist, Dr Getty, retired. Sold practice to this "franchised" dentist office. One of the worst office staff I have ever been in. They do not know what a "pre determined" or EOB really means. Make sure you get this from the insurance BEFORE they touch your mouth. They do not send the insurance company the full estimate. After you pay the deposit & they start your procedure, then they tell you, you owe more money. They bully you into paying hundreds of dollars after they already started. Elderly people beware. Also keep your hand on your wallet. Always trying to up charge as well. Selling you water picks, cancer screenings, Florid, etc. Also the offices have gone down hill in this past year. I would not recommend Perfect Smiles to anyone. I was a patient of this establishment and personal dentist (prior the sale to Perfect Smiles) for over thirty years. First of all, the customer service is next to zero and the billing seems something out of outer space. On my second visit after the sale, I arrived early for my appointment and checked in at the front desk. Before I realized it, over 30 minutes had passed and I had not been called. I walked back up to the front desk and the receptionist advised me that they checked me in as NO SHOW...HUH...I had been sitting there and no-one called me, checked in with me and there was only me and two other people in the lobby. She then stated let me see if the dentist can still see you. She walked to the back and then came back up and stated someone will be with me shortly. When I walked to the back the dentist I met with was by no means apologetic and proceeded with my filling. When I left she then stated she was sorry for my wait. Upon my exit, the receptionist then advised I owed $65.00. I asked for an explanation as I had pre-paid for my visit when I came for my cleaning thirty days ago. She stated that it did not and I would owe the $65.00. I asked was this before or after insurance applied, she stated they would submit the claim and let me know. Well, I stated then let me know when you hear back. Now, a week later I am in pain..why? because the filling was not done properly as I have made an appointment with a new dentist. DO NOT GO HERE!! The office has been remodeled and does have a very cold Corp. feel I have good dental Ins. But there prices are so high (higher then other dentist in the area) that I always have a. High balance. This place is absolutely filthy. Everything is dirty and the technicians do not have a sense of infection control at all. The technician dropped an item she was using during treatment, picked it up, did not change her gloves and continued working. I was appalled. The sharps container is overflowing. The chair is disgusting (on and around just debris everywhere.) Just as we were leaving, I was receiving post treatment instructions from the provider when a technician barges into our room WITH ANOTHER PATIENTS IMPRESSIONS IN HER HAND AND DRIPPING WITH SOME LIQUID asking the provider about something on the impression. I never knew them and I'm pretty sure they are pretty great people, however I can only speak from my experience and Perfect Smiles has the most dedicated professionals I've ever encountered in 40 years!! They are truly passionate about the job they do. They are upfront, honest, and they also communicate every detail every step of the way. Today Chicago is supposed to receive 12 inches of snow and I was told to cancel I would be charged a $200 cancellation fee (which in itself is an outrageous amount and an increase from their previous $75 cancel fee). So my usual 15 minute drive to the dentist today took 45 minutes because of the weather. Not their fault the weather is bad, I understand that. However when I get to the dentist office and sit down to have my teeth cleaned I'm told the dentist didn't show up today. I love my orthodontist but other than that this facility, their front desk is not helpful at all and gives you the run around. I was told I owed $400 because the insurance didn't pay all of their portion so I called my insurance to see what was going on and they said the payment was processing, so I would have been charged for nothing, but I also found out that they had charged me out of network and I was in network at the time so I was owed money.... I relayed this to them and even had the insurance company speak to them and nothing. I have been given the run around saying some office manager is not been available, even was told they would have her call me. I called today and now they are saying the office manager will be there Tuesday, it has been a month with no resolution or any concern! This is not how a business should operate because when I "owed" money I was called and sent letters and they almost didn't let me see the orthodontist but now they don't know what's going on smh. The dentist who took over, was with me for about 5 minutes, never mentioned my connection with the previous doctor. I started coming to Perfect Smiles about five years ago. Five years ago the service was excellent. If you had an appointment at 2, you were seen at 2. Since then, there is no guarantee that you will be seen at all let alone at the time you scheduled for. Having an appointment means absolutely nothing. They will call you to reschedule for a different day and time, and then they will call you on the day of the new appointment to reschedule for a new day much later than your original appointment. Therefore, your six-month check-up turns into an eight to nine-month check-up. They have very little consideration for patients' schedules. I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate the new appointment, and now I am being told I have to wait. They have a staffing issue, and instead of resolving their staffing issue, they inconvenience patients with little more than an apology. They charge patients when they are a no-show or cancel at the last minute. They should credit us when they do the same. If I didn't need consistency, I would have switched dentists the last time they did this. Nonetheless, I refuse to pretend that their professionalism is not subpar. And although I agree with the other reviews that tout them as being friendly, I would rather have professional staff (front desk to dentists) over grinning in my face with niceties. And they are just regular at doing the job patients are actually there for. I appreciate the attempt to rectify the situation by calling back a third time to reschedule within a week of my original appointment, and I appreciate it being noted in my file that "this" appointment should not be rescheduled again, but this problem is ongoing and pervasive, affecting how I feel about the whole experience (and no one really enjoys going to the dentist in the first place). Management needs to run a SWOT analysis to determine where the ball is being dropped. I should not know that you are understaffed, let alone have it impact my experience. I have been a patient is this specific office for 43 years. I first was a patient of Dr. Doyle and then when he sold the practice I became a patient of Dr. Jacqueline Rodriguez. My daughter started invisalign treatment with Dr. Rodriguez in March 2022. We paid in full up front for this treatment in March 2002. In December Dr. Rodriguez left Perfect Smiles to start her own practice. I was told when she left that another dentist from this office would take over 'my daughter's invisalign continued care. This was not the case. In January 2023 the office handed me the rest of her invisalign inserts with a post it note!!!! Basically I was told I was on my own from this point forward. They said they had an orthodontist they do work with, but she was not in network for my insurance. I have made countless calls to try and reach a manager. No one will return my calls. I have even made several calls to their district manager Nicole. She has not contacted me either regarding this matter.I cannot believe how horrible we were treated after all the years we have been with this office, not to mention all the money that has already been spent! read more

Corporate dentistry hopefully isnot in my future. Similar dealing with Amazon, soulless and quick. Never feeling like you got anything on substance or quality from your visit. Especially annoying is the "back room" area, similar to a locker room or slaughter house; get you in, get to out, there is an unpleasent feeling of being too close to others while getting mouth cleaned or checked out. We have been going to this office on Western for the past few years, since our terrific dentist Dr. Hlousek retired. We thought we would get the same care, but we were wrong. They have the nerve to text a $200 fee for a missed appointment, but give you no credit for waiting 30 to 40 min because they overbooked or were running behind. They have changed, postponed my family's appointments over and over. My grandson started with one orthodontist over two years ago. We are on our third orthodontist now. It was almost $7000 for his braces, which we were assured was for EVERYTHING. He finished with regular braces and was fit for a retainer ( took 3 molds before they got it right). We were told at the time that the retainer would " probably " crack, which struck me as strange, but I didn't question. We were told today that it would cost out of pocket another $500 for another retainer. When I asked what would happen if it cracked again after 3 months, would it be another $500? They just shrugged. I found that response appalling and we left. I'm left with finding a more ethical orthodontist office that will make him an overnight retainer. read more

I thought if you don't cancel it's confirmed you will be there, knowing a fee will be charged if I don't show up and a high fee. Who charged $200 if someone can not make it or change appointment. This place is going down. We need you back Dr. Getty. We missed you. This is Evergreen Park location. Smile not so perfect. All patients should receive a copy of your policy. People also need to know that they must confirm within 48 that they will show up or your appointment automatically cancelled even when there policy does not mention it.
