I think I spent around 4 or 5 years looking for a brilliant stylist who would actually listen to me and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Then I found Bliss in my own backyard. Its owner, Julieann, is the only person I will EVER let near my hair now. And at £7 for a funky style, just the way I like it, it's become absolute favourite hairdressers. The staff are lovely and you're always guaranteed to have a laugh when you visit as they talk about what they did last weekend!

Costing £15 for a blow dry, £20 for a cut and blow dry and £25 for a colour cut and blow dry, also offering highlights from £20-£40. Its a bargain! Also if you buy a bottle of their tan you get a tan mitt and blow dry for free!! A great way to look fab for less!! The salon offers a simple walk in policy and apparently a 15 minute wait is pretty much the maximum that it ever takes. The selection is simple...there are 3 options competitively priced...cut, cut and blow-dry, cut colour and blow-dry. So no confusion there. After a minute of explaining what I wanted, I was asked to take a seat and then brought over to the main cutting area. It's a long, bright room done out with gilt wallpaper which was a bit disconcerting at first. The hairdresser was attentive and cut the hair as requested, even going a bit shorter at the back when I asked. They didn't have a price for this particular cut as it's a mostly female clientele but as it only took a few minutes they only charged me £6. As reasonable as any barber I've been to. Pros: No booking necessary. Friendly staff. Cons: Mainly for female customers.

My girlfriend and I had plans to go out for a meal to celebrate me being amazing (and some birthday or something) and although she is normally ready weeks in advance of any occasion, this particular day she had forgotten the most... second most important thing (after me obviously) and that was to book a hair appointment. Despite running everywhere while I was tagging along behind like a stroppy child, she didn't panic and it was at this point that she came across Rogue (that's french for red... see? I can be helpful). This very modern hairdressing salon was able to sort her out as she went through the door. I ran around outside being busy as always. I don't know (that) much about women's hairdressing but my girlfriend said the service was excellent. She was greeted with a cup of tea and a wee biscuit, already beating every barber I have even went to. She was then seen by the 'top' stylist and asked what she would like done. He was extremely professional and knew exactly what style would suit her (if only a man would do that to me... ahem!) After a very relaxing wash by one of the younger stylist, the professional worked his fiddly scissor-magic and styled her hair to perfection. She was more than happy with the result and the stylist gave her a whole range of tips to keep her in tip top condition until her next cut. She said the only downside was the price, it proved very expensive compared to normal but my girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed the experience and said that if I ever wanted to treat her I should book her in there again. I have already taken the hint on board and will use it if any other celebrations come up which are not dedicated entriely to my awesomeness. They never let you leave without your hair looking on point. Parking can be quite difficult during the day as its busy with students parking close to Queens. The training nights start 5.45pm and I can always find a close space. There are many qualified people in here's. They have been part of numerous Loreal colour competitions. Members of the team train regularly with big named stylists in the uk. The venue is clean,bright and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The staff are all super friendly and make you feel very welcome and relaxed. The decor is a rustic mish mash of random ornaments, paintings, photographs and plants. It's really quirky and very cosy. The stylists are attentive and provide great advice on what style they feel might be best for your hair. I love the fact that they listen and aren't scissor happy like so many other places. They take time and patience and talk you through the steps they are taking. Tea, coffee and magazines are always on offer and there's always a nice atmosphere with an electic mix of music playing in the background. Hedonist really is a great spot to relax, unwind and get pampered for a few hours. It can be pricey but with such great service and talented stylists I feel it's well worth it. They provide 25% off for students and also have their own loyalty cards which you can use to get a free cut and blowdry.
