The staff have always been very friendly and helpful to us, and I don't find the prices too unreasonable. Especially considering whatever you buy is going to last. Some of the home decor and other items can be a little pricey, but they do offer a large selection to look through so you can pick what works for you.

Took it up to the checkout to find out it was a black spruce and total price approx. $52. I asked why it was painted green and was told it's a fire retardant and helps the needles stay on longer. I asked if it was safe for cats and was told it was. 1. The manager would not honor the price of $39.95 even though there were 2-3 other Black Spruce in the area that said $39.95. 2. Researching the green paint, it's painted on trees because the needles turn yellow and are unattractive, though it does help the needles stay on longer. 3. The green paint it TOXIC to cats, as is the pine water. So, cat owners with real trees, cover the base with a tree skirt to protect your pets. Left and was driving south on Wauwatosa Road and passed a tree lot on the west side of the street. Pulled in and bought a freshly cut, unpainted 6' Balsam fir tree for $55. Thank you Mequon Stein manager for not honoring the price of the row the tree was in. Not only did I find a beautiful Balsam fir but potentially prevented my cat from ingesting toxic water.

They have a grapefruit mint candle that is natural and smells refreshing, and I wanted to get that again. When we arrived, it was about 20 minutes prior to closing, but we decided to go in for a quick looksee. I pay attention to customer service and if the vibe is welcoming and this visit it was NOT! We did not get a hello or welcome. When paying for my candle, the owner said hello, my total, and asked me to punch in my card pin. Honestly, it felt as if we were stepping on toes for entering their shop close to closing. We weren't the last customers in the shop, and we were left the store 10 minutes prior to closing. When we left, the owner immediately ran outside and pulled in her sign and closed the door. My friend and I both talked about how unwelcomed we felt, and unfortunately, we decided we will not be coming back here. It has nothing to do with the items inside the shop, but it is a crummy feeling when you want to support a small business but are left feeling rushed and unappreciated.

I notified Design House for an exchange for another vanity, but Design House refused. They didn't replace the vanity or refund my money. On the outside of box, there is a sticker/label indicating there was a complaint made about the same product and not to sell. Design House completely ignored labeling and resold defective product. I have written a formal complaint to Consumer Affairs.
