Soooooooo.. There are only 3 hotels in Harderwijk so your choices are limited. This hotel is in…read moreDIRE need of a renovation!! It is very outdated. The room is large however, but the carpets are stained and very dirty. The room overall just didn't seem clean. The furniture is tattered and there were cobwebs around the ceiling. We had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking courtyard and restaurant. There is a church which chimes bells on the hour beginning at 7am. The sound is beautiful but if you do not want to be awake, this is a problem. If you want the windows open, there aren't screens on them so you will have to deal with flying bugs.
The bathroom is simply appointed and a nice size. But the lightbulb over the sink was burned out so we couldn't see. I had to contact maintenance for this to be fixed. The first morning after housekeeping had already came, I noticed that there was still a soap ring around the sink from the soap bar we used to wash our hands. I also noticed that the carpet hadn't been vacuumed and the shower wasn't cleaned. I had to go down to the front desk to obtain tissue, shampoo and bath gel as the maid did not replenish it. The carpets in the hallways are also old and stained. The walls have scuff marks. The 2nd night I noticed that one of the pillows had a large blood stain on it! DISGUSTING to see even if it was washed. At least, I hope it was washed..
The water pressure is good and the hot water is VIOLENTLY HOT- SO BEWARE.
The free breakfast buffet is good! Variety of breads, cheeses and meats, eggs, yogurt, fruit, coffees, mimosas and juice.
The staff is very nice,
polite and accommodating.
The bar is nice and seems to have been updated. We didn't eat in the restaurant. We recommend Ratatouille (see my review on that restaurant)
The hotel is within walking distance to all of the restaurants, dolphinarium, shops and the huge lake! There is a nice fitnespad path around the lake that leads to a nature center and a windsurfing beach. Beautiful views.
Even though I wouldn't stay here again the price is affordable and location is perfect if you want to be close to all this little village has to offer. Try the Hotel Monopole which is right on the lake. It looked very nice but only has 19 rooms.
