Stayed here for two days whilst traveling through the Netherlands. Not too shabby if I say so…read moremyself. Decorated in the contemporary, minimalistic style, everything is all about clean lines and a polished look. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable, if a little bare. We requested a room with two beds, but they gave us two single beds pushed together. The room itself came with an older television, two chairs, and a small table. There were also plenty of available outlets. Wifi is consistent thoughout the hotel (YAY!). The bathroom was serviceable. Oddly, the bathroom door only covered half of it. Lol. It kept the place dry though. There were also plenty of towels. The rest of the hotel was nice. Again, the contemporary look was common throughout. Especially in the lobby and bar area. Breakfast is served at seven, buffet-style. The regular menu consists of various breads (croissants!!!), cheeses, cold cuts, eggs (scrambled and hard-boiled), bacon, sausages, fruits, yogurts, and cereals. The drink menu consisted of orange, apple, and pineapple juice, milk, coffee, and tea. Location-wise, the surrounding area is a little dead. There are several different restaurants and cafés, but they're rarely busy. If you're willing to walk a little bit (less than five minutes), you'll hit a fairly busy shopping area. Other than that, there's not too much to do. Amsterdam is roughly an hour away. Overall, the Apollo is a nice place to stay for a couple nights -- but I wouldn't make a full vacation of the area.

It's at least 45 minutes (30 miles) to the city center and while there is a rail line, it takes equally as long. The hotel itself is situated in downtown Lelystad, which is a planned community on "artificial land". There's a grocery store nearby as well as several bars and restaurants - though the town seemed pretty dead when we were around. The hotel itself is pretty nice, reasonably modern, and well-kept. The food was good (we ate breakfast and dinner there), and the service was friendly. There is some odd marketing (e.g. shower caps that say "don't wear me out of the room"), but it's not that bad -- just quirky. All-in-all, it's a pretty good hotel, just a not particularly convenient location.
