Some friends and I were on a trip, near Frankston, and looking for a place to have dinner. This was…read moreThursday, April 23rd, 2026. There didn't seem to be a lot of options, so we were very happy to find a Texmex restaurant close by. We love Texmex! We were promptly seated by a young guy, then greeted quickly by our server. She was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about the menu. My friends both chose the Frankston special with a side of guacamole, and I can't remember the name of the entree I chose, but it was a cheese enchilada (I think) covered with beef fajita meat and chili, alongside rice and refried beans. I had a coke, which was served in a bottle, but our server brought me a glass of ice which was great. The restaurant was hopping for a Thursday night. It wasn't full to the max, but business was good. Our server was very attentive. I wish I could remember her name so I could give her a shout out. The guacamole was delicious. I could have made a meal just off of that, but since it was ordered by my friend, I wasn't going to eat all of her food. Ha! Honestly though, the salsa and rest of our food was mediocre. We ate most of it, but there wasn't anything I'd crave enough to go back. It was edible, so if I found myself in Frankston hungry again, I'd consider stopping in. Like I said, there aren't a lot of dining options. We eventually asked for our check and went to the front register to check out. This was done by an older man who we found to be very rude. We asked for our check to be split up between us, and I guess he just wasn't in the mood or something. There was no one else checking out at the time, but he was rushing us through, making a simple request a whirlwind of demands. I really don't know how else to describe it. Once we paid and were out the door, we all looked at each other and tried to figure out what that was all about. Needless to say, he kinda ruined the experience for us. So, if you're in Frankston, and want some so-so Texmex, go to Marcos. Or, there's always the Dairy Queen nearby for just as good of a meal.

The chips and salsa were good though. As for the meals, the street tacos were probably one of the better items on the menu, as was the crunchy beef taco. The beans were not good and the rice was a little too dry and flavorless for my taste. The enchiladas were average - nothing to write home about. Overall, there just wasn't anything that tasted homemade or had much flavor. I give this place 3 stars for the service. We had such a nice experience with our server and she was awesome - very helpful and so friendly! We would be back for the tacos, but otherwise will pass on the other menu items.

The tortilla chips tasted like they had been fried in rancid oil, the "guacamole" was from a tub and tasted like preservatives. My husband had a chimichanga and they put this gross chili on top of it. It was mostly tortilla and very little meat. I had a soggy enchilada that had 2 tortillas wrapped around maybe 2 tablespoons of canned chicken. Again, tasted of preservatives. The ranchera sauce on top, also canned. The booths are torn and in disrepair. Awful decor and not very clean. The walls are painted this awful green color that looks dingy and ugly. To make you feel even more welcome, some 600+ lb man who seemed to be related to the owners was sitting in the booth by the door with an awful scowl on his face. People would come out from the kitchen and sit and talk with him then go back to the kitchen. No aprons, no towels. We should have seems the signs and just left. We both have had awful stomach aches ever since leaving there and that was about 36 hours ago.

On my first visit to any Mexican restaurant, I try their green enchiladas. I feel like if a restaurant can't get green enchiladas right, I probably won't be back. Covina Mexicana nailed it! Their green enchiladas are delicious! The menu is reasonably priced, and the service was quick and helpful. Our boys loved the kid's quesadillas and the bright cozy ambience. Well done! We'll be back.

I got to try their delicious green salsa chilaquiles. I'm craving them now! Tacos were also delicious, steak was seasoned perfectly and could not believe when I realized their tortillas were homemade!!!! Yes!!! We will be back for sure!! Just make sure to bring cash or have the Cashapp installed on your phone. They don't tell you this when you enter, although there is a sign that is easily missed from being distracted of your surroundings. The place looks shady (on the outside) & only 2 windows can be seen BUT I promise you won't regret it!!!
