Peperoni offers not only great-tasting pizza, but also modern Italian foods. We tried some of their best-sellers:
- Funghi Portobello con Pollo (Php455) - "meaty" Portobello mushroom that is breaded and fried and topped with arugula and chicken slices in a red wine reduction sauce. The sauce is fragrant and gives a strong flavor to the ingredients. The breading tasted like a chicken parmigiana so it gives off good flavors. The arugula is the mediator to balance everything. I got lost with the chicken because I do not know its purpose there. The dish can survive without the chicken. Nevertheless, a good dish.
- Pasta Vongole (Php420) - spaghetti with clams. This is a very comforting dish and the clams are not overpowering. The pasta is nestled on a clam broth. It is an okay dish for me and not something to wow about.
- Tiramisu (Php295) - this soft coffee and kahlua-flavored cake is very delicious. Its creaminess of the mascarpone is perfect with the soft chiffon. A good dish to cap off a meal.
When it comes to pizza, I am very particular about the crust. Most of the time, toppings are the same in pizzerias, and one can be competitive with a really nice crush. I love Peperoni's thin crust where the outside is biscuit-like crispy and the inside is soft and chewy. The toppings are minimal but they are packed with good flavors and complement each other. 21" pizzas were served to our delight:
- Prosciutto Crudo de Parma - basically, prosciutto ham, arugula, and parmesan cheese. I can't believe a pizza so simple can taste this good. The arugula gave the uniqueness to the dish as it is used as the connection to the ham and cheese. Very addicting!
- Diavola - pepperoni and garlic. Comfort food at its best.
- Pancetta - my favorite among the pizzas served. I am a fan of eggs so I am kinda biased on this. This pizza has bacon, tomatoes, and egg. I was really surprised by the effect of the egg on this pizza. It wet it and made it a little gooey that is fun to eat. Love at first bite.
- Quattro Formaggi - a different kind of four cheese pizza. Mozzarella, Taleggio, Scamorza, and Gorgonzola Cheese. Gorgonzola is one cheese that is not liked by most people, but it gave a nice aroma and flavor to this dish, making it not satiating. I could probably eat the entire pizza.
- Bacon Mielle - the only white-sauced pizza at Peperoni. It has bacon, honey, oregano leaves and gouda cheese. A sweet and salty blend.
The food menu is very classic and the pizza menu is very creative. Ambiance is relaxing and the interiors are instagrammable. A bit pricey but you really pay for the freshness and high-quality ingredients. It is worthy of a try, after all, all we knead is love. read more
