Before I got there I called the store and spoke with the manager, Rick. Extremely professional on the phone as well as when I got there. Needed a light bulb replaced on an older car. I made an appointment several days in advance. I arrived for my appointment time and Will was the only person there and originally said he had no familiarity of my appointment. Once he looked in the system, he saw it, and then informed me that his peer, that was to complete the work had to leave for the day. He at least had the decency to point me in the direction of where I could find the part I was trying to have replaced. I called the number on google earlier that morning to ensure it was still scheduled and good to go, the lady on the phone said yes. Don't make an appointment here and expect the work to be completed. They will mislead you and then make excuses as to why it can't be completed. The leadership here should address their employee shortages, we all know plenty of people that are qualified and would be glad to have work. read more

I purchased 3 new tires. Upon exiting the store one tire came off the vehicle while driving. Damage was done to my vehicle as well as another vehicle. Pep Boys was at fault. They have tried to not make the repairs, not respond to my plea for help. I am still trying to get my car repaired. The police report indicated they were at fault. This has been a nightmare. The manager and "area manager" at the Busbee location NEVER called me back. Still fighting this. read more

Incompetent Service, Wasted My Time, and Refused a Refund My recent experience at Pep Boys was an infuriating waste of time and money. I brought my car in for a simple flat tire repair and endured a series of unacceptable failures and poor customer service. First visit: After waiting a ridiculous 2.5 hours, I was told the tire was fixed. I drove away, only to discover a few hours later that the tire was completely flat again. The repair was obviously done improperly and not checked for quality. Second visit: I had to return to the shop with the same problem, which took up another 1.2 hours of my day. This time, they finally managed to fix the flat tire.(I hope) However, the initial 2.5-hour wait and failed repair had already cost me significant time and frustration. The refusal to refund: After all the hassle, I asked for a small refund of $25 to compensate for the wasted time and the clear incompetence of the initial service. The manager refused, showing a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. Despite their clear error and the inconvenience they caused, they were unwilling to offer any gesture of goodwill. I do not recommend this Pep Boys location. The service was incompetent, the wait times were unacceptable, and their unwillingness to take responsibility for their own mistakes is a major red flag. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere that values your time and does the job right the first time. Rick stated that they are a skeleton and they don't have a lot of workers... There are at least five people waiting for their cars and when I look through the back window after over an hour wait I see the mechanic just sitting on his butt playing on his phone. See picture... These people are thieves. They didn't perform the service and almost killed my family as a result. On March the 5th I paid for an oil change at your Kennesaw, GA location on Cobb Pkwy. My appointment was for 10:30 am. I arrived, waited about 45 mins and was informed that my car needee breaks and tires. I declined the additional work and paid abut $80 for my oil change. Around 4 pm I picked up my significant other, our kids and we headed out of town for his daughter's birthday party in North Carolina. While driving down Hwy 20, my cars engine fail safety feature engaged and shut my car down in the middle of the highway. We were able to make it to side of the road and call for a tow truck. After waiting 2 hours we had our vehicle towed to the nearest pep boys, in Conyers, Georgia. We had to pay for a Uber to take me and the kids because we could not all ride with the tow truck. Once there, the technician stated that the oil in my car was dirty as if it had,in fact, not been changed. The oil in my car was dirty. We took pictures of it. He stated that it looked as if the car had been over filled with oil, without first dumping the old oil out. The tech stated thst my vehicle can be more challenging than most and that they failed to removed the old oil.They drained the oil and still were unable to get my car started. Because of the hour, this location was not able to provide a rental car. They did get out family an Uber back home, while we figured out how to salvage our family weekend. In the morning we had to rent a SUV to make our trip to North Carolina. About 2 hours after we left, we were informed the car had started. At this point we were already en route to North Carolina. I spoke to the service department at Infiniti and they said that overfilling the oil in the car can cause major damage to my engine, hence why the cat shut down suddenly. I have called the 800 number more than 10 times. I've only spoken to someone twice. Typically the wait is extremely long and I request a call back that never comes. A week and a half ago inwas told the distric manager was investigating and would call the next business day. That was more than a week ago I want a resolution to this issue. The malpractice by your store placed me and my family in serious danger and could have ruined my car. Yet no one seems to care. read more

My 2007 Lexus was idling rough and was intermittently failing to start. It was throwing a code for faulty cam sensor. Rick at Pep Boys was very diligent even calling in a regional diagnostic expert to pin down the issue which was very elusive. Rick needed to order additional parts and performed extra labor at no charge because the vehicle was not fixed on the first attempt. First visit to this Pep Boys. I arrived for my 11:00AM appointment and was immediately told it would be 1 1/2 ro 2 hours before it would be finished (which seemed extreme for an oil change and tire rotation). I went back home (instead of waiting) and after 2 hours had heard nothing. At 2 1/2 hours I called to check and was told other customers were "up sold" and were moved in front of me. I was then told my truck was going in next. An hour later I went back to Pep Boys expecting it to be finished, but it was not. I was told again about "up sold" customers being moved in front of me. I sat there until after 3:00PM and it was eventually completed. They did apologize and gave me a 50% discount on my service (which is why 2 stars instead of 1). However, after seeing similar reviews and since this was my first and only only experience here, I won't be returning to this shop and will be reluctant to do business with Pep Boys in the future. read more

Updating my review as the problem has been resolved, but the amount of time it took, and the lack of support from anyone in corporate still justifies one star. I took my car in to resolve a vibration from my front passenger side after having that tire replaced at this location. I was informed that it was the axle, and that it would be a ~$400 fix. After that work was done, the vibrating was worse, and accompanied by scraping/grinding noises, but I wrote it off as me being paranoid. I brought the car in a few more times trying to get them to hear the new sounds or feel the vibrations, and each time after leaving them my car for about a day, I would have to call to get any update on it, to which I would be informed that they didn't hear anything. As it got worse, I took them at their word and assumed it was fine, but was informed as I was getting my oil changed at another shop ( a few weeks later) that a piece of my axle was outright missing, and that there was transmission fluid leaking from it. So I took the car back to this Pepboys, and walked home, which would begin my new routine of getting my car back after being told it was fixed, driving it for 30 minutes, the problem still being there, dropping it off, and walking home. Eventually they figured out that I needed an ENTIRELY NEW AXLE, and after quite some time, managed to track one down and get it installed, and as of updating this review, its doing great. Now lets get to the reason I can't give any higher than one star for my review, even after getting my car back. I was without a reliable vehicle for two full months. My only means of transport was in their parking lot for more time than I was able to drive it over the span of two months, which wouldnt be a problem if I was able to get a Rideshare credit or a rental through them, since you know, it stemmed from work they did prior. Alas, that was not the case. I contacted their customer support line on numerous occasions, being told each time that my Open Case would be escalated, and that I would be contacted by a Regional Manager within 48 hours, and that my request for a rental would be noted. Instead what happened is I either had to walk 2 hours one way to my job, or Uber at my own expense if I was scheduled at another location. I work at a coffee shop, and with the changing seasons, would be walking in pitch darkness for two hours either before sunrise or after sundown as the days just got colder and colder. Everytime I called again to explain my situation to the corporate line, I would be told "These things dont normally take this long" and "You'll be contacted by the RM within 48 hours." Only after two full months was I actually contacted by someone from corporate, and it was after they already ordered the part so there was nothing else that could even be done at that point. So no rental, no rideshare credit/reimbursement, next to no communication if I wasnt the one to initiate it, and the kicker of I only finished paying off the Pepboys Credit Card of the initial $400 repair a few days before writing this review, so I still had to pay full price to be without a car for two months. While I do give kudos to the gents that managed to get a piece of a car that's been out of manufacturing for a little over a decade, the lack of concern about taking responsibility aside from getting said part is what warrants this review to stay at one star read more

T Made appointment on line for oil change. Trying to social distance as recommended. Their website said I could pay on mobile phone...when call came that car was ready I was told they dont do over the phone payment. Website said key would be sanitized and given to me in plastic bag...NOT...I had to use touch keypad twice to process payment and key was handed across counter with paperwork. Man wore no gloves or mask. I had checked their website to be sure they had some precautions in place....No they do NOT!!! I'm in a high risk category...very disappointed.. read more

Don't bother wasting your time going here if you have a fleet card/wex card. I showed up 30 minutes before close on a Monday, and trust me- I get it, we all want to go home, it's Monday. The employee at the counter said he couldn't do it until tomorrow morning, because I had a fleet card. What makes today any different than tomorrow morning? It takes 15 minutes to change a tire, the employees just wanted to clock out. I will not be returning to any PepBoys location, they have lost my business. read more

Beware of alignment scam! On 6/8/2020 I went to the Pep Boys store #1570 to purchase four tires, mounted and balanced, and have a four wheel alignment performed. When I returned to pick up my car everything was fine until I asked for a copy of the printout showing how bad my alignment was. The counter guy went in the back for a moment and upon his return informed me that the tech had not printed a copy of the before or after diagram. I asked "then how am supposed to know you even did and alignment?" His answer was they would not rip me off. This was ridiculous, I have no proof they even did the alignment, moreover, I don't know of any suspect parts wear issues to keep an eye on. All shops provide these printouts, so the customer knows what issues they had, and that the mis-alignment has been corrected to spec. The only reason I can think of not to provide this to the customer is that they charged me for an alignment that was not done. I contacted their regional but had to leave a message and never heard back. BEWARE! read more

My car needed brake pads, rotors, and a pair of calipers and they tried to get me to pay $1300. I went somewhere else to get it fixed and got it done for only $600. They have no concept of good pricing and are very lazy when you try to talk to the front desk. Never EVER go here or you will be completely ripped off. Not even close to pricing of other places. Went in for a pre-scheduled services activity (Oil Change), so the process to be checked in at the local store was quick as all the information was provided online when making the appointment. Even with the previously scheduled appointment, the local team much have been pre-occupied as I was able to go next door and eat breakfast in the time it took them to get my car into the bay for service. Went I returned to the location I sat down within the customer observation area where I was able to view my car being raised and lowered more times than I would have expected. During this observation period the services tech was having regular communication with 2 other individuals within the service area, one of which was eating. After being at the store just over an 1-hour, one tech come up to the front counter to have me pay, while another tech pulled my car out of the bay, pulled up really close to the curb; initially I did not think much about it. This all took place on a Friday, over the weekend I pulled the car out for a top-down spring drive and when I went to wash the car I noticed that both my left and right fenders had damage right behind the tire; this is the location on the car were the Pep Boys tech's lifted the car causing damage. On Monday I placed a called into the Corporate Customer Service Line, advised of the situation and was provided a case number. They advised that this should be handled at the Store Manager levels, multiple times during the last week I have called the store at both numbers listed on my work order. We are now a week later, Pep Boys has sent me 2 emails asked for a Review; funny enough when I provided an honest review, they rejected the review, my review was rejected because it didn't meet some of their guidelines. So much for seeking honest feedback; seem that they only want reviews that are positive only. I am now questioning the integrity of the Pep Boys systems and the knowledge of the tech's which performed the service on my car as the body damage is extensive based on the quotes I have received so far from independent body shops in the area. Maybe this will get the attention of Pep Boys and maybe they will now take care of the damage their tech(s) caused to my car through inappropriate lifting of the car for the Oil Change. read more

These guys are great. I did some calling around to find a decent price for rotate, balance, and alignment. They weren't the cheapest (thus the 4 stars) but so far the service has been great. I was quoted one price over the phone and when I got here the price was higher. With no question they dropped the price to what was quoted over the phone. They weren't pushy and didn't try to up sell me on anything. Very happy and would recommend. Side Note: they just recently became Pep Boys. Hope the service doesn't change with the name! read more

This is for a Volvo XC90, 7.8 quarts of oil, cartridge filter plus oil drain nut gasket. 2 days after the oil change, I noticed oil stains on the floor. Took it back to the shop and they admitted that they did not have the oil drain plug gasket so they reused the oil one. It leaked, of course. Had to wait for over an hour for them to get a new gasket and replaced the used one. That is after waiting for an hour to have my car checked. They had to drain the oil in order to do that. Another day later, I noticed the oil waning light coming on after a long drive. Stopped and check the oil, it was low and not even showing on the dipstick. The oil temperature was extremely high. I stopped by an auto parts store and had to add 2 full quarts to bring it back to the correct level. I am just hoping no internal damage occurred due to the high temperature. I went back to the store to tell them what happened and they just apologized. I told they I hope they don't do it to other customers. This is unconscionable for an auto service company to do. Nothing is more simpler than an oil change. My only regret was not go to the Castrol Oil next door. read more

They quoted me $325 for services and parts. The part cost me $40 and I took it somewhere else and paid $120 for labor. Not sure there the price difference of $325 to $160 came from. If I could give more stars I would. I get my oil changed here and they're always pleasant. Recently my car broke down on the interstate and when I called to ask them about towing, I chatted with a very friendly person at the Pep Boys call center and within two hours (on a Sunday morning no less) my car was off the interstate and at Pep Boys, where they let me know in the nicest way possible that it was essentially totalled. They worked with me frequently throughout the week and were pretty much the only silver lining in this terrible situation I was in. The staff was patient, kind, and informative. I was already a loyal customer but now I'm gonna find ways to work this into conversation so I can promote them because they're the real MVPs. Over the phone I was told brakes for a Jeep Wrangler (I made sure to specify Jeep Wrangler) including machining the rotors would be around $89. I dropped my jeep off and was told it should be about an hour until it would be ready. 3.5 hours later, when my Jeep was finally ready, I was charged $159. I had the absolute worst experience in the Acworth Pep Boys location went in there 2 weeks ago for a Synthetic change left my car there for a little over 2 hours recieved a call which was the only call that I would recieve from this location my oil pan was cracked and needed to be replaced. I was also asked to pay or half off the replacement part which is totally unreasonable because I only take my car to Pep Boys fast forward none of the technicians Tucker, James, or Austin not even the store Manger Chris cared about me not having vehicle for over 2 weeks. My husband had to call them for updates over 4 times. Had to sit there for 6 hours but they had a lot of work to do and the manager offered to give me a ride home. 10% off and threw in a free oil change. Also gave me a coke and air fresheners.
