Dealing with this shop was an extremely deflating experience. My car overheated and was towed to this shop. We were lethargically told it would get fixed up. However, a day later we were told the wrong part had been ordered; at that point we were also told this repair may not address the problem. Had I known this, I would not have approved the repair in the first place and would have instead sought a more complete diagnostic. Lo and behold, once the repairs were complete we were informed the car was still overheating, and were presented with a bill for over $1600. I called to try to figure out what to do next, since I was not prepared for both having to pay such a large bill and also not having a functioning vehicle. The mechanic acted as if it was a bother to answer my questions and displayed zero empathy for my predicament. They get 2 stars instead of 1 because the woman at the front desk and answering the phones was consistently polite and tried to be helpful. It's not in any way enjoyable for me to write a bad review. However, I will not recommend this shop to anyone. Being nice to people goes a long way to building trust. I don't trust Pep Boys any more. read more

Worst auto shop experience ever!!! I got work done on my 2011 Toyota Tundra at the Kings Canyon location and received it in worst shape than I took it in for. I went in originally because my passenger side shocks had a minor leak. This leak was brought to my attention a month prior by Wheel King, who was rotating my tires. I was originally quoted $850 upon the inspection, but the final price was $2614.08 with parts and labor. I was originally told I only needed to repair the suspension and that Pep Boys has to replace the suspension on both sides, they cannot only do one. Upon further inspection, the Manager, Mark Cypert said I needed new struts even though my truck only has 78,000 miles. I was never shown any pictures or videos of these damaged parts, but the Manager insisted I get the upper control arms and struts replaced. I took his word and expertise and was expecting my vehicle to look as it did when I took it in. I have larger aftermarket tires and wheels with a leveling kit, but after it was finally repaired, it looks completely different than before, in a worse way. I noticed several issues with the new suspension; the front end was not leveled as it was before and was sitting much higher. The front wheels were now inverted inwards and were not paralleled with the rear wheels as they should be and were before I brought it in. It physically looks horrible and I mentioned all this to the Manager, Mark Cypert the next day when I took it in for the power door lock/window button repair. He said that since the struts were so badly damaged, they had to replace them and that this is the way they have to originally fit, at 3". I showed him that the wheels were now inverted inwards and that the front tires are not sticking out as far as before and parallel to the rear tires. He said that this is the way it's supposed to be and that Wheel King, the company who did my aftermarket wheels, tires and installed the leveling kit, didn't know what they were doing and "are the worst place for wheels and tires". To say that there is nothing more he can do to fix it and that this is the way it's supposed to be when it clearly looks terrible and completely different than when I took it in is an answer and outcome I simply cannot overlook. I currently have Case #192112 open with them to hopefully get refunded for all the damages done to my truck. I simply could not wait any longer for Pep Boys to fix their mistake so I went ahead and took it in to Fresno Unlimited where they diagnosed issue right away and removed my leveling kit block to even my vehicle again and re-aligned the wheels so now, they are straight again. I wish i would have never taken it to Pep Boys since the beginning and should have gone with my gut and taken it to a suspension specialist like Fresno Unlimited. While Fresno Unlimited was fixing my truck, they noticed that a nut was missing on the driver side upper control arm. How incompetent do the technicians at Pep Boys have to be if two different locations did not notice this huge safety issue but Fresno Unlimited was able to notice this right away? Imagine if my upper control arm snapped on the road while driving. Even the owner at Fresno Unlimited told me personally that Pep Boys did me dirty. I now have to buy all new front tires due to the wear on the tread which is more unnecessary money out of my pocket. This whole experience has been completely awful and unacceptable!!! I expect my file claim #192112 to be approved and expect to receive a full refund and reimbursement for all the damages done, all the hours and time spent, all the stress I've been through for something that should have been done right the first time. I made sure to notify all my friends and family about this whole ordeal and to NEVER use Pep Boys again!!! Believe me, if I could give negative stars on this review, I would. read more

I wish I could give them a negative star for their horrible service and horrible customer service experience. I never go here and now I know why. I figured I'd give them a chance they're close to home bud wrong choice. I got there early at 1037am my appointment was at 11am well guess what at 1137am I got called and told they can't service my car because my engine is making a funny sound and supposedly had no oil in it. Are you kidding me? Aren't they a service center?! They suggested to go next door and buy oil put it in my car and drive around and come back. Like wtf?! I couldn't believe this crap never in all my times having this car have I experienced this before so I left to go to the only place I trust which is Valvoline. Absolutely terrible people. What happened to being a decent human being? A employee that works here has treated us with the upmost disrespect. He walked right past us while dropping a car off and ignored the question we had. They soon called me with a "diagnosis" saying it was going to be $1,100 to do the front brakes on my car. While on the phone the employee called us a f****** idiot and hung up the phone. Nobody should be treated like this especially a customer. Never will I give them my business again. read more

This place is dirty and unkempt. Walked in this store and I smelled a bad odor of fermented rotten beans. The customer service was awful, and mostly likely the odor was coming from the flatulence of the customer service guy who had a bad unpleasant attitude. The owner should hire better employees. Went to the Pep Boys on Blackstone We needed new tires immediately as the next day we were driving to LA and decided we didn't feel comfortable about the tires on our car . Well , last minute is always a problem , did not have the tires in their shop that would fit BUT another Pep Boys did . The service manager went and got them brought them back to the Blackstone location , called us when he got back to the store we immediately drove to the Blackstone location the service manager than gave us a good price on the tires and efficiently balanced , rotated and put the new tires on . Called ahead and just stopped by to quickly get some air in my tire due to my low tire pressure light being on and both my phone call and my drive up experience was nothing but positive and friendly. Prior to pep boys, I tried calling Les Schwab to see if they'd help me out but didn't get a friendly/welcoming response so I decided to look elsewhere and I'm glad that I did. If I could give zero stars I would. Purchased tires with 75,000 mile warranty. All four tires. After only 14,000 miles one of the back tires completely blew out. Do I get a new tire with a small price adjustment? No! They said since I didn't purchase a roadside hazard they aren't covered. OVER 6 HOURS to mount and balance a new set of tires? GTFOH! I should've read the reviews before coming here. NEVER LEAVE your car here with them because it sure as hell ain't going to be worked on while you're gone. The one "star" is because they called a Lyft for me to go home and wait and since I only lived a few miles away, I accepted the offer, not knowing they did that to get me out of their hair, really. The service rep then told me it would be 2 and a half hours or so to get the job done. I said that was fine. At 3 hours in, I called and it was still being worked on. I asked why they were taking longer than usual and got the usual BS "were busy working on a lot of vehicles, we're short-staffed today" answer. At hour 6, I head over there and as I am writing this, I am still waiting, and my car is still being worked on as we speak! I don't care what excuse they want to pull out or what offers they wanna give me to try and make up for their horrible service, and trust me, they tried. I told the service rep that I gave them the benefit of the doubt and trusted that because they were a professional establishment that professionals would be working here. I was wrong. And to be honest, thanks to this experience, I'm not too sure if I even wanna visit any other Pep Boys location in the future. Edit: Came home because I couldn't see in the dark out there and saw that they didn't even bother to clean up the tires even a little bit. I'm extremely nervous about the drivability at this point. I was quoted 2 hours....at the 2 hour mark I was called and told the car would need to stay overnight because of EXCUSES on why they couldn't complete the job. I was then told my car would be done the next day before noon. After no phone call at noon, I called and was told it would be another few hours. Instead of being okay with that, I asked that my car be taken off the lift and I was ready to leave. The workers were nice, however highly question their skill and ability to work on cars. read more

I called last week to ask how long it would take for an oil change and I was told I'd have to drop it off for the day unless I make an appointment. So I made an appointment for a week later at noon. I know an oil change doesn't take more than 15-30 minutes, and knowing I had an appointment that is exactly what I expected. So when I walked in I was asked if I'm leaving the truck there. I said no, that I was going to walk to diciccos for lunch and I would be back. I received a text so I can follow along the service. The text said my truck Would be ready at 6pm!!! I called and asked what was going on because I have to be somewhere at two! It is 1:07 right now and they have not started it! What is the purpose of the appointment! My truck is an enterprise truck, and the employee said he needed authorization before they can work on it but he hasnt had time yet. Wtf???!!!!! What about my time? Get it together!!!! Took my car in at 10am to replace a blown out tire. Quoted at $157 for a couple hours wait. 3 hours in I call and I'm told one car ahead of me, about 2 hours. I call and am told one car ahead of me still.. and will they don't not have an eta. I was told definitely before they close. 8 hours for 1 tire? Glad I didn't have them replace the other 3. I talked to the attendant in the parking lot and was told that there was only one car ahead of me, but when I went to check-in, I was told that I would have to leave my car there till 5:30 PM. This seems to be the new normal for this location. This location is right down the street from me and I would love to use their service, but I always find myself going to the Midas out in Clovis to get in and out service. Worst customer service EVER!! Arrived at 8:30 (store opens at 9am) to use drop off box expect there were no forms. We asked the mechanic for some forms, he went into the store and return stating "someone will bring one out" 30 mins later no one arrived store is open, however the repair side still has a locked door. 10 more mins pass another customer starts knocking on the door and finally the door is open. But after two months there was the same probluem that they fix. And this time he was telling me that they gonna charge me 800 bucks for that. That s**t pissed me off. Very reliable service! We were in need of new tires since ours were badly bald and had resulted into us fish tailing off of the freeway. We had accidentally ordered the wrong size on the internet but were promptly helped in person once we came in. We got 4 new tires at a cheap price in a timely manner. We told them that we were involved in an accident on the freeway and upon changing our tires, they mentioned some very helpful observations on things that they noticed that might need to be fixed at no extra cost to us. Freddy was a huge help answering all of our questions and serving us since we don't know much about cars or maintenance. Definitely coming back here when we are in need. read more
