I have had a personal account with Peoples since 2011, I would disregard the first review on all points except where the IT issues are concerned. Remember this is someone who lives in CA using a very small line of banks in northeast Texas, Californians earn the reputation they have. Someone who is somehow able to be "victimized" 3 times by debit card theft? Someone who uses a small bank 3 states away yet is outraged that they have problems? Sounds like a person that couldn't find their ass with both hands, I heard from a wise man that keeping your card in a wallet or purse can work wonders. That said I go to 3 different locations, at every location the employees were friendly and helpful every time I have gone there over the last few years. Absolutely no complaints there. Sadly the bank is -plagued might be a strong word- lets say stricken with IT issues that arise every 3 months or so, they also have the occasional problem at certain local businesses with the card not always working. It is sporadic and has occurred with multiple cards, but thankfully that too also happens only every few months. If you live in the Paris, TX area and don't travel very far, I think this could be a good bank for you. Otherwise I would suggest choosing to do your banking elsewhere. read more

This is for the Princeton, TX location. Do not trust this small town bank with a cent of your money. They illegally went to my Grandma's House and had her sign paperwork she did not understand without anybody else in our families permission. She is 89. This bank locked her account up and now we can't pay her rent or bills. They stopped her rent check and cards from working so the last two months we had to figure out other ways to take care of my Grandma causing lots of major problems. They also won't show us what she signed unless we get a lawyer involved. Plus it's old school so you can't get anybody on the phone past 5pm M-F or make deposits out of that time frame. They are not open at all on weekends. You literally can't get people on the phone to give you answers. Other major banks you can speak to someone 24 hours per day. Do not trust them. Go to a bigger and more legit bank that treats customer properly and is more honest. read more

I have multiple personal and business accounts at Peoples Bank. For almost 20 years they have always been professional, helpful, and kind (even when I need to make a withdrawal in the drive thru a few minutes after closing on Saturday). Clean and inviting lobby, efficient online banking, and great smiles when I get to visit. Thank you! read more

STAY CLEAR OF THIS BANK. They put a 7 to 10 day hold on my deposits that are from businesses. This in turn causes my checks and automated payments to be returned which is then charged to my account. I spoke to a customer service person that said she would speak to an "officer." Well that didn't help, they still returned items and charged me quite a lot of money. Well, lets be honest. This bank is in it to make money. This is how small banks make their money - on overdraft fees. They advertise for "second chance checking." I would avoid this bank at all costs. They are NOT about helping their customers. I foresee this bank going under in the near future. read more

Nothing but excellent services, polite and knowledgeable employees, and fast resolution to all my problems. They have never made a mistake, and even though the started changing a monthly fee of $4.95 for my checking account it is a great deal for the services I get. I'm very happy and I'll never change banks again. Hopefully the owners and management stay the same. I also intend to do commercial business with them in the future. Thanks for everything. read more

I have had an account with this bank for close to 6 years and I have one word. AWFUL. The only reason I have dealt with them for this long was because we had all of our auto debits/direct deposits set up with them already and didn't want to have to change it, but since we have moved out of state the issues have gotten significantly worse. There is absolutely no accountability when their employees try to steal money from you and you catch them, you have to watch your account like a hawk if you don't want them stealing from you. One example is when my husband deposited a check he received on a side job one time and I noticed that the check was never posted to our account. He went to their branch on Lamar to ask about the issue and was told that he had to provide proof because "money doesn't just disappear". When he provided the receipt all of a sudden the story changed to "sometimes the system glitches" and all of a sudden the money was there right away. No apologies or anything. They have caused bills to get declined multiple times and each time the company told me that my bank declined the transaction but they always blame it on the other company. They claim to only charge a fee if your bank account is below a certain balance but that is a lie, they will charge whenever they feel like. The customer service is horrible. One representative will tell you something and then another will tell you that what they said is incorrect so you never know what is true and what's not. As soon as the latest issue is resolved I will be closing my account. read more

I have been a customer of Peoples Bank, Paris, Tx branch, and I have had an active in good standing checking account for the past three years. I have recently applied to open an account online in the same manner I opened my current account, I was surprised to receive a letter of denial that bears no name or signature stating: "Choose not to do business with you". Although, I do have an active, current and in a good standing account for the past three years. Upon calling the bank for explanation, I was put on hold and the line was disconnected. It appears that certain individual(s) at that location do have personal agendas/ profiling that federal and stares laws prohibit, let alone defying the guidelines and regulations of the bank itself prohibit such illegal practice. read more

I have had an account at Peoples Bank since January of 2013. My account has been victimized 3x by debit card thefts, fought with their internal issues with password reset protocols, usually laced by the bank employees trying to blame me and THEN LATER ADMITTING THEIR IT PEOPLE ARE WORKING ON IT. I expected a small town community bank to be friendly and helpful, unfortunately my experience has been one of rude and untrained people. They appear to be VERY HOSTILE to me as I am in another state than they are. They have authorized someone to open another debit card on my account without my permission. They are actively seeking overdraft fees based upon sequencing of ACH deposits vs. debits, debits are accelerated and deposits are delayed possibly causing debit ledger balances. This operation has major problems my recent experience involves 2 $ 125.00 gas pump authorizations at a Safeway 50 miles from me. I call about the fraud and all they want to do is try to give me a set of script based questions, not correcting the fraud. Bad operation--will probably cancel my account after debit card fraud is corrected. read more
