What a joke. Walked in to a quiet shop to look for a pen. I had my foldable bike with me which the staff scowled at the s cond I walked in even though there was loads of space. I picked up a couple of card wallets that caught my eye. I asked why two of seemingly the same thing one made a clicking noise and one didn't and the lady behind the counter said it was because it had to be full to be silent. Seemed weird. While talking to her I must have clicked the two wallets four times each and the other member of staff said something about me being careful with them and not to click them too much. I said I'm pretty sure the only function should be ok and he replied not if you click it 20 times. Assuming I use my wallet twice a day good to know that he doesn't feel it would last 10 days without breaking. Left shortly after as don't think I want to give my money to a company that talks to potential customers like this. Off to Amazon I go. read more

I've had an excellent service from Pens Plus of Oxford, repairing vintage pens that I had not been able to use for years. I had sent one of them to a specialist in the USA, with a poor outcome. This was a truly awful experience. I went to this shop for the purpose of purchasing a second fountain pen. I told the saleswoman what brand held my interest, but I also made it known that I was hoping for some guidance and suggestions from her. When I expressed this hope, she became mean and pushy, and tried to rush me into a purchase. I did not want to make an impulse purchase, so I told her I would need to think about it. As soon as I said so, she replied with a curt "fine", and walked away to another customer. I was appalled by her behavior, and I will never frequent this shop again. I had a much better experience at Scriptum, which is just down the road from this shop. They treated me with kindness, patience, and respect, and I walked away with a new purchase and a smile on my face. I will happily buy from Scriptum again when I am next in Oxford. read more

I love this shop. I'm totally addicted to fountain pens and this has the creme de la creme of pens from a few pounds up to so much oh my god! They have lovely paper and inks too and although its a trek from the main shopping area its well worth a walk. Much better service than WH smiths etc read more

I came in looking for a good fountain pen in the medium-to-high price range, and was met by a woman of incredible attitude, who went out of her way to be as surly and rude as possible. Simple questions - "do the nibs come in smaller sizes?" "how much is the pen?" "are there any other options you would recommend?" - were answered in a way one can only describe as resentful. When I told her that I would think on a purchase (I ended up buying another pen), she seemed ready to spit in my face; all I had asked was to feel the pen and try it out. It seems reasonable to me, when considering a purchase of over £200 to be as informed as possible and to try as many options, but she seemed to take my questions and deliberation as an affront. When, at the end, I expressed my discontent with her service attitude, she was belligerent and argumentative: "well, what about YOUR customer attitude?" etc. Clearly, in this store, the customer is always wrong. I spoke to other storeowners of stationery/pen stores around Oxford and they told me that they had gotten, over the years, multiple complaints about the service at Pens Plus - some people had even come in tears to these other stores after their experience at Pens Plus. This is disgraceful behaviour and for a store that professes to want to share the 'joy of writing' (as stated on their website), they have an odd way of expressing that. I came prepared to spend a substantial sum of money and left knowing I would never give or recommend anyone to lend their custom to this shop. read more

I am a pen collector and was here looking for some nice pens. The woman working in this shop seemed very unhappy and somehow I had a feeling that a customer was not welcomed here. The shop was supposed to be a *specialist* but she could not provide any knowledge when I asked her questions. Her manner was also horrible. The way she talked and looked at customers was unfriendly. I could not help myself thinking how terrible her life must be. I came here because I wanted to buy some nice pens which would remind me of the historical city like Oxford in the future. But after being treated badly by this miserable woman I felt it was a wrong choice that I stepped into this shop in the first place. read more

The worst customers experience in Oxford I ever had. This is a good shop because of its variety, you can findbany pen you want inside, ranging from beginner level to luxury products. However, don't expect any service from this shop. There is inly one staff in the shop You are just paying extra money to it's rent and the convenient if you are hurry to get your desired product. I was about to buy a pen yesterday, when I stepped into the shop, none of any welcoming greeting. There is a saleslady in the counter stairing your every movement in the shop. When you asked her some advise, she kinds of not interested in answering in details and not appreciating unless you have showed your intention in buying. Once I have choosen my pen, she will make the process as fast as possible, chasing you to go and made the payment as soon as possible. After buying my pen, I want to stay inside the shop and look around other products, but she will ask if you have any things want to buy. Seems like to kick ouout of the shop ASAP. I am really amazed of this bad service I never had before. This is only a good place if you want to have a realistic look of what you want to get and buy it somewhere perhaps ( you will find cheaper For Sure). read more

I'll admit from the start that I'm not particularly excited by pens. If I can find one in my drawer that works, that's good enough; if there's a lid on it, well, lucky day! Still, there are lots of people for whom a good writing tool means a lot. Pens Plus caters for everything from pen novices to schoolchildren, to lefthanded scribes, to collectors. They stock all the high quality pen brands like Parker, Lamy and Waterman, as well as ones I'd never heard of: Dupont, Scheaffer and Mont Blanc to name a few. Different sized nibs, different cartridge and ink options, and so on are available, and it's handy for those into their calligraphy too. The customer service seems good - they will try to order in special requests, and they also repair pens, which is good if you've splashed out on an expensive one, but probably not worth it if you've just split the nib on a Parker from WHSmith. The staff are knowledgeable, but I feel like a bit of an imposter as I'm not a pen expert, and I'm often only after some ink or a browse for present ideas. read more

Pens plus has a great selection and the service is decent. I recently bought a (relatively inexpensive) fountain pen there and the staff was a great help when it came to selecting a model that suited me (advising me against the pen I chose initially because of the way I held it). read more

The shopkeeper was incredibly rude as a few others have noted before on google maps. High prices and pretentious staff make this shop not worth a visit at all. Better to support a shop elsewhere where staff and management are interested in sharing their art. read more
