There is a very large, comfy room for guests to go to as well; there was always someone in there. You can park beside the hotel itself. It is reasonably priced The but...it is on the other side of the water from Looe centre itself...it is a 15 minute walk down, that is true...but uphill coming back is a trial if you are a little slow or unsteady...there is a get out, having done the walk once,...call Randle Cabs; really nice guy and worth the £7

This review is purely for the restaurant (we are staying elsewhere this trip) - which was excellent. Husband and wife team, where the husband serves and the wife is the chef. Pictures tell much of the story! Nice menu's and temptation at each turn! My wife went vegetarian and had the stuffed squash which looked spectacular and apparently tasted great!! I had the trout which was the same - good looking, prepared wonderfully - and both with delicious sides! Couldn't resist the desserts - my wife had the Cornish ice cream while I succumbed to the Cornish cream tea sundae - crazy good - way too many calories of course but I didn't miss a morsel (see the before and after pics on my profile pictures!!). Friendly owners with a lovely dog! Breakfast was lovely, a selction of yummy things to have with as much tea and toast as you could want. Perfect position to visit many of Cornwalls main attractions.

I had a room on the top floor with a view of the river. Andrew and Stephanie were warm, helpful and welcoming. And the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever had. Highly recommend!!!

However, since being taken over a few years ago now, The Portbyhan has had a lot of work done to it. All the rooms have been kitted out superbly and it is fabulously run by some cracking staff. Great for wedding receptions also! They can cater as well as seat many guests! With a bar and small dance floor and gigantic bay windows overlooking the harbour, at night when the harbour is lit up the view is superb!!!! Also, the other side of the Hotel you have the bar, where some locals love to go! You can hear the sounds of the locals wailing karaoke from there on many an occasion from the oher side of the harbour! Highly recommended place :)

Dining room for evening meals was great and also the breakfasts. We have walked along the cliffs in to Pollperro. There were some steep parts but very enjoyable. We came back on the bus. The staff are very friendly and we can't find a single fault with this hotel. Highly recommend it.
