Do you want to save money, or donate some items while supporting survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault? Then read on. This was my first visit to Penny Wise Thrift even though I've driven past many times. I was surprised at the openness of this very well-lite area and size of the building. Everything was clean and everything was in it's place. No piles of items laying around. The store has plenty of isle room to browse between the various areas. It doesn't feel cramped, dark, dirty and claustrophobic like many thrift stores. The furniture, including sofas and dressers, chests, tables and chairs to name a few are located to the right as you enter. I found several pieces that would make a nice project. Houseware and home decor are located almost in center of store with lots of variety to select from. Clean glassware, home decor and more are easily accessible on large open sided shelves. Several racks of shoes, some still with tags on, were shelved and organized well. I found a decent amount of purses with many slightly used and a few looking new. The everyday clothing was clean, in good condition, organized well and made browsing quick and simple. All of the jean's are grouped together by size and so affordable. If you are a thrifter who enjoys searching for formal wear and wedding dresses then pop in here. The selection was impressive, excellent condition on the pieces I pulled out and unbelievable prices. Several people were trying on dresses while I was there. I can understand why this store had a steady pace of customers walking through the door. Clean, organzied well, nice selection, reasonable prices and arranged for browsing. I'll be back since the inventory changes daily. I almost forgot to share the most important information! Donation and store sales helps bring healing & hope to survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault. When you donate to a PennyWise Store you directly support their work in two ways: Providing families with clothing, furniture and household goods to help them start new, violence-free lives and by helping PennyWise provide a quality, reasonably priced product to the community. When they sell the rest of these donated goods in the stores, that money is directed back into funding their life-saving programs. Stop in!

Nice service, decent selection and some things were a bit over priced but we always find something to buy.

Super cute store with LOTS of stuff! It was all decorated for Christmas! Staff was super friendly…read moreand helpful. Prices were very reasonable. They had parking in the front of the store. I recommend checking it out. I feel like there is something for everyone!

I'd gone over for a quick run through, looking for nothing in particular. 2 items that intrigued me were Christmas items, one downstairs, one upstairs. I gave him the untagged ornament and he was friendly enough and said he would get me a price **half the ornaments in the bowl were not priced. The priced ornamenta were between $6 & $12. So I make my way upstairs, in the large room I find a gumball machine with a Christmas scene inside the globe....no tag. I walk it downstairs to find Jeff for a price and he gave me "a look" and said he knows it was priced because he took it up there yesterday...walks away in a "huff", rather angry manner. He gave me the feeling that he had just accused me of taking the price off. I did NOT! I literally frequent the place quite often and he knows me.....why would I do that. At the register he gave me the price of the gumball machine. Honestly...I wouldn't have bought it for any price at this point. I often go to Downtown Rosenberg for a couple hours when I need a break **I live 5 miles away**. I'm not sure when/if I'll return to Red Queen's Attic and I certainly will never recommend the shop to another person **which I've done so many times in the past** Thrifting/Antiquing is a "break" for me....something I love doing,. On this day, Jeff took that from me.

This place has both, and despite its impressive array of goods from clothes to furniture, it's well organized and easy to navigate. I'm normally a neutral-color dresser but some of the clothes encourage me to step out of my comfort zone into some louder designs. Additionally, the walls are all lined with non-clothing items for sale -- books, movies, glassware, water bottles, and more. I don't think I've ever come a cross a thrift store with this much versatility. Out of the Closet is serious about HIV/AIDS advocacy and they prove it by putting their money where their mouth is. Like many other thrift stores in Montrose, you can expect marked up (but still fair) prices compared to the larger ones with piles upon piles of clothes to sift through. 96% of all proceeds at this store, however, go toward supporting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Free condoms are offered near the cashier counter; free HIV testing and a not-for-profit pharmacy sits in the back. The roots of thrifting inherently lie in supporting the community. This is usually accomplished through the affordability of everyday items, but this shop takes it to the next level by showing their dedication to safe sex and access to healthcare. Give this place a visit the next time you cruise through Westheimer -- they deserve your time more than you know.
