I believe The Highline opened a few months ago in August therefore there are still many vacant storefronts. But the architecture and exterior are of the building is beautiful with the warehouse features still exposed and embellished. Even the parking garage is amazingly clean and aesthetically pleasing with all the steel doors and columns! Right now, De Fer Coffee, Green Mountain Energy and Anytime Fitness exist in the building now. There are still multiple spaces and I'm excited to see what comes in the future. Architecture, views and design are 10/10.

In recent years, it was redeveloped and renamed after New York City's High Line. It contains office space, retail space, a coffee shop, breweries, a fitness center, a conference room, a parking garage, and an elevated park. So far, I have used only the parking garage. It contained plenty of spaces for vehicles, and it also had a lot of support columns compared to other garages. My husband paid $3 to park here while we ate at a nearby restaurant. He did have problems with using one payment machine, so he ended up using a second payment machine instead.

What they really should name this place is Scott Service Center. The destinations up here lean more to the services. There are several medical type offices, what I believe to be a printing service area and a few restaurants. There might be one store up here, I believe and Asian market, but I could be wrong, don't quote me on that. Definitely not a place that you drive out of your way to come to. You really need a reason to come into this plaza. The most notable thing in this center is Mad Mex. Of course I would notice that.

For example: once I forgot my Trader Joe's insulated shopping bag in the ladies room, and due to travel was not back until a week later. The staff here found the bag, washed it out, washed the tupperware container I'd left inside, disposed of the spoiled goods, and cheerfully handed it back to me when I returned and inquired. I came to Alloy 26 to co-work with my colleagues for a few days. I'm sure the experience as a…read moreregular member versus being a drop-in visitor is different, but overall, I thought this co-working space was just okay and if I have a choice I won't go back. It's advertised on their website that they have "fresh coffee, snacks, and drinks". This was not my experience. The only snacks I saw were a few bags of pretzels. There were two coffee options - one automated machine and a drip coffee in the lobby. The automated machine coffee was stale and flavorless. The drip coffee was fresh and tasted good overall but only accesible for a few hours of the day. I went to the lobby to get coffee around 1-2 PM and it had already been put away for the day. There were no other drinks to my knowledge. The convenience store, Eco Bistro, which is right next door and has soft drinks, snacks and drip coffee, closes at 1 or 2 o'clock every day. There are other coffee shops nearby but I wasn't comfortable walking around on my own in this area of town. Plan accordingly if you want snacks or use the vending machines in the coworking space. The private phone booths were comfortable and sound proof but so hot. There was zero air flow in these booths and I personally couldn't be in one for longer than 5-10 minutes at a time without having to open and close the door to let some air in. The open desk areas were nice and spacious and the chairs were super comfortable. I particularly liked the open booth seating. The temperature throughout the rest of the space was comfortable. There was also at least one walking desk which was really cool to use! Pro space: if you're just dropping in, ask the front desk for a key. Just keep in mind you'll have to return the key before 5 pm when they leave work. The coworking space stays open past 5 but you won't have your key. I think Alloy 26 is a nice enough space but really has some kinks to work out. There's very little natural light throughout the space and the desks that are near the windows (which have an amazing view of PNC Park) are sparse or non-existent. I would suggest adding more proper desk spaces by the windows for people to work. I also wasn't sure of the cleanliness of the space. There were few (if any) disinfectant wipes around to clean surfaces after someone had previously used them that same day. I do know they clean and disinfect at night and the space overall is clean and doesn't have any visible issues. Finally, I recommend taking advantage of the multiple security guards working in the building if you're concerned about panhandlers and harassment. The woman running the front desk told me that security is happy to escort you to your car or to different nearby areas on premise. This area of town has some growing pains and it's best to know that security is widely available should you need it.

The decor is bright and trendy and actually makes working more fun. Not only is the space amazing but complimentary coffee and beer on tap is provided to everyone in the kitchen area. Additionally, Molly and Ashley are beyond helpful and make sure everything is running smoothly and that you feel like you're "at home" in your space at Novel. They also host events for all clients like happy hours onsite. The location of Novel is also ideal, as they're centrally located downtown, just a block away from the Gateway T stop and Market Square!

There's a huge lobby area with a handful of large meeting tables and a some chairs and couches to have a casual meeting at. I've rented out their conference rooms before, which vary in size from a 6-10ish size to a larger board meeting type space. There's obviously different size office spaces you can rent as well. They're not walled off, but have more of a bank teller type feel with solid walls and then glass higher up. Basically it's not necessarily private. There's also some smaller individual "phone booth" type spaces for privacy. I did the flex plan and paid for 3 people total and it was around $250, but I think we worked out a small deal too. Not cheap, but not the most expensive in the city either. They have coffee and tea, and a little bit of fruit, but that's it with food amenities. There's also a small kitchen for everyone to use with silverware and fridges. It's a great central location downtown by Boulevard of the Allies and I'd happily rent space again, as it's month to month contracts. I wish it was something I could afford to do more often, but I'm glad to know it's there when needed and would recommend it to others looking for space.

I have gone to almost every co-working space within the downtown area, and I can confidently say that the Beauty Shoppe in the Pitt Building is the most beautiful space out there. It is straight out of Pinterest, deep rich colors, architectural decor, and even the bathrooms are perfect. The two people that gave me the tour (Jesse and Marissa) were also the two nicest people I met on all of my tours. Offices were generous, and there are several different types of co-working spaces (offices, desks, open areas). Unfortunately, this space is not going to work for us (a little far of a walk), but all things considered Beauty Shoppe is at the top of my list. You should definitely check it out if you have time.

Rentals start at $12 an hour with provisions available for frequent renters. A conference room seating 8 is also available for rental.
