Job placement is supposed to be fair, simple, and based on your skills. That's what Penmac claims to offer--but in reality, it's a complete mess. They discriminate, play favorites, and couldn't care less about the real people who come to them for help. Back in 2020, my husband and I were both placed by Penmac at the McCormick factory for a 7am to 3pm shift that lasted about three months for me and year for my husband. The entire department was a disaster. We were surrounded by workers who were openly high or strung out, especially on Wednesdays--guess that was their party night. Some of them were even promoted to line lead positions. Imagine that. Criminal records? No problem. Showing up under the influence? Totally fine by management. But heaven forbid you're the one actually trying to work. The harassment there was nonstop. It was like walking into a prison yard every morning. People were more interested in creating drama than doing their jobs, and management either didn't notice or didn't care. People literally hid in freezers to avoid work and still collected paychecks. Meanwhile, those of us doing the actual work got yelled at for not "looking busy" enough. That "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean" line? Total garbage at that place. The only people who got punished were the ones trying to stay productive. I got fired just for trying to find something to do instead of standing around. No warning. No conversation. Nothing. And when I went to Penmac for help? They turned their backs. Again. The stress from that toxic job environment was so bad, it caused my husband to have a mild heart attack and develop high blood pressure. That's how serious it got. We were just trying to provide for our family, and Penmac handed us a nightmare. And don't even think they'll care about your family life. If you've got kids with disabilities, like we do, don't expect Penmac to give a rat's ass about your child's needs. They offer no flexibility, no compassion, and treat you like a burden for even mentioning your family. I foolishly gave them another chance recently. I walked back into Penmac thinking maybe things had changed. They hadn't. I even referred my 18-year-old daughter to them, just trying to help her find something temporary. She got the same treatment--looked up and down, judged by her appearance, and never taken seriously. They would not even give her a job until she brought in steel toe boots. Seriously? Boots were the difference between being considered or tossed aside? That's not professionalism. That's superficial discrimination in its purest form. If you don't "look the part" or check their arbitrary boxes, don't waste your time with Penmac. Job seekers deserve respect, fairness, and honest support--not this nonsense. Avoid them. Your health, your sanity, and your family's future are worth so much more than what they'll ever give. read more

I'm a college student, never had any experience with a staffing agency of any sort. Walked in for a standard employer required drug screening when I was thinking about accepting a warehouse job. Very unprofessional staff, I actually turned down the job I was doing it for but I was sure to mention my experience here to the potential employer. Was not greeted and the receptionist was on the phone (with what seemed to be her friend) for 15 minutes before she could help me with paperwork. Did not explain any details/instructions and acted as if she thought I had done drug testing before (umm... no). The negativity of the staff made me wonder how overworked they are. I never been to a temp agency that can give you rides to & from work. That's the most clutch thing you could ever have. Especially cause they just take it out your check. Lotta folks don't got rides or bus money so that ride really come through for a real one. Every time I been there the staff was good to me & were always willing to help. Honestly this is one of the best temp agencies in Springfield especially cause they will drive you to work & come get you & take you home. If you need a job & don't got a ride you ain't got no excuse to not be here. read more

I can not speak for every branch BUT the one in Fulton Mo is a JOKE .. Call to ask a simple question while working for them about how to get a required water bottle to have water on the job and get the response " let me ask someone who might know " or " well your just a temp " Really now guess I don't need to work for you then ...........no wonder they can't get people to work for them here... Better management skills are needed for sure !!! I worked threw other temp services and never had this issue . The slogan " We Put People First " what a joke !!!! They lie to people to get them in the door then if you don't kiss butt they are completely ok with you leaving because your replaceable and they let you know it . After my bad experience with Kelly Services and Focus, I turned here. I had contacted them before when I was in Iowa, but the lady I spoke with over the phone was no longer there. They treat you like a number, not a person trying hard to find work. They sent me on 2 assignments. One was at ROI, which is Mercy's warehouse, and that was a mad house. Some folks there were working 20 hour shifts, then expected to be back to work the next day for their regular shift. This ended with them telling Penmac that I never returned to work, which was a lie. The second assignment was at Mammoth Inc, which I did end up getting hired on full time at (unbeknownst to me, this factory would be shut down 2 years later). Like I said, you're just a number to these folks. At the end of the year come tax time, I had to fight to get my tax forms from them. They wanted me to come get them myself rather than them mailing them. After explaining my work schedule and their office hours did not coincide, the girl on the other end of the line copped an attitude with me, and acted like I was bothering her, then told me to give her my address. They finally sent my tax forms after I threatened to call the IRS on them. I guess they are a good tool to get your foot in the door somewhere, but they are unprofessional, and you're not a human being to them, you're just a number to them, and a dollar sign to the corporate office.
