The waters cold, very cold. If you need a board there's a bunch offering rentals. Plus, I'm iffy about renting wetsuits but they do have some thicker ones that insulate the heat and keep you warm in the cold waters. You can park at the lot by SurfCastle and overall it's a surf beach with that Bohemic vibe that you were looking for. It's a peninsula so there's a beach on both sides of the thin sand way that separates the two waterways. I love everything about this beach and even though I almost got pneumonia from swimming in the water, it's just cause im fiery miamian who's used to 85 degrees Fahrenheit year round. For most Europeans who frequent the area, the water is actually warm.

We were benefitted by 2-4 foot surf, with a slightly outside break for more experienced surfers and a decent whitewater ride for us newbies. Instructors were very friendly, new multiple languages, and really helped focus on the technical details to get up and riding. Additionally, all the local instructors seem to have a good mutual understanding on breaking up the surf areas and keeping everyone accounted for. Equipment was foamies, and the wetsuits were fine. Not sure if board and break selection changes as you grow, but I definitely enjoyed the experience and came away surfing better after two days. Also can't speak to the facilities, but I think they also have a house or apartments too. If in the area would book again.

The rooms don;t come with any shampoos or anything so bring your own stuff. The hotel is built on top of a restaurant that is really good. They do a great breakfast as well. Peniche is a messy, take this hostel in consideration if you want peace. The owner is helpfully in everything you would need, we were four guys and we rented a bunk beds room with terrace for a very reasonable price, all the hostel is new and very clean. We used BBQ and kitchen that is fully equipped. In a word this is an hostel that seems your house. Highly recommended.
