It took a long time for us to get here as there aren't many (if any) straight roads in all of Wales. I could be wrong on that, but I'd be surprised if I was. It was well worth it though to come to Wales only distillery. We got here just as a tour was underway. We were allowed in and that was pretty cool. We've been to these kinds of tours before. You've seen one, you've seen them all, but this one at least came with a Welsh accent. At the end you get 2 free tastings or you can trade your coupons in for a free travel bottle of one of their spirits. They make 3 kinds of whisky as well as vodka, creme liquor and 2 kinds of gin. More than enough to whet your whistle. Sue brought home a bottle each of creme liquor and gin and brought home creme liquor (for my brother) and one of their whisky's. Haven't broken it open yet, but I am going to savor it when I do and think about my Welsh adventure. read more

Best single malt whiskey in all of the UK in my opinion! Since I could not get to Scotland to taste their scotch, this Welsh only distillery was the best I have ever tasted! Their Madeira, Sherrywood, and Peated were the best! Their samples are in small cute 5cl bottles. I bought their 70cl (fifth) bottle to take home and loved them all ! It has to be their full flavored, clean and refreshing whiskey that swept me away. Now I am trying to find them here in the states.... read more

For £5 per person (as at Aug 2010), you get a brief history of the distillery, how Penderyn whiskies and their other spirits are made, and two tastings (or a miniature bottle instead if you are driving). We had a very entertaining guide who took us through how Penderyn whiskies and other spirits are made. He was very educational and knowledgeable with the tastings and taught the guests nifty tricks when tasting / enjoying whiskies. He was also very generous with the tastings and actually allowed everyone a little bit more than was allowed by the voucher system if you have genuine interest in whiskies (as my boyfriend does!). Penderyn whiskies have won various awards despite their young age (the distillery has been established only 10 years or so ago). They also have a very flavourful gin, a 5-times distilled vodka, and a creme liquer called Merlyn in addition to whiskies. If you are a Tesco Clubcard member, you can use Tesco Points to exchange for the tour vouchers (as at Aug 2010). I did the tour and tasting with my husband. You can tell straight away that the staff takes a tremendous amount of pride in their products, and rightly so! They made a point to not "copy" the style of any other country/region, and they were successful in creating something both delicious and uniquely Welsh. And although they're most popular for their whiskey, I actually love their other products and I wish they were available back home in America! Their gin is my favorite because it's so flowery and clean tasting. And the creme liquor is very yummy as a dessert drink. read more

Bought the Groupon voucher for the Whiskey tasting for my granddad for Easter and It was well worth the money. The tour guide was fantastic and so helpful. Would go back again tomorrow and would recommended it to anyone read more
