Looks very professional and nice how they ran the lines from the inside unit to the outside. Went online to request an appointment yesterday morning because the switch that turns the blower on went out over the weekend. Before I even put my ipad down someone was calling me about when I would like someone to come by. Got 12-2 window which is great. Most of the time if I schedule it a day or two out they have been early or at the beginning of the time window. Unlike the cable or utility companies. All of the technicians I have interacted with have been awesome. Very professional and nice. I love the online appointment system because I can put a photo in to show them what I am talking about. Then they can make sure what they need is on the truck. They also installed a brand new exterior HVAC unit on a house I owned. The mini split they ordered to install in the tiny house is great. Had it for a few years now. Well worth the additional cost from the diy one the builder installed that only lasted a year. Just the unit alone is probably about $500 to $1000 more same BTU as the old one but quality name brand. Overall no issues at all. I wanted to post a photo of how it looks on the exterior where they ran the lines but I can't post a photo.

I'd like to give a few shout-outs here:…read more 1. To Chadwick F, owner of Innovative Mechanical (https://www.yelp.com/biz/innovative-mechanical-atlanta-2), for quickly responding to my duct cleaning inquiry on Yelp and referring me to DUCTZ of Greater Atlanta. I searched Yelp for a good duct cleaner and Innovative Mechanical popped up as one of the top results. I used Yelp's "Request a Quote" feature and sent inquiries to three different companies including Innovative Mechnical. Chadwick of Innovative Mechnical was the first to respond and said, "Unfortunately, we don't clean air ducts. We recommend Ductz." 2. To Daniel of DUCTZ for calling me quickly. After filling out the short form on DUCTZ's website, Daniel called me the same day and we scheduled a time for him to come out. Daniel was a good communicator and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. He was honest, straightforward, and professional and I really appreciate that. 3. To Rhonda of DUCTZ for emailing me a quote quickly. Long story short, I was quoted $687.50 for this particular property: one HVAC unit (to clean the coil and blower), up to 10 vents (remove, wash, and reinstall each vent), and all associated ductwork cleaned with a compressed air sweep. Additional vents and bathroom exhausts were quoted at $25 each. Dryer vents $75. There was more, but this should give you a good idea. I've uploaded with this review some helpful info Rhonda sent me with my quote. It gives you additional background on DUCTZ and their vent-cleaning process. This is an independently owned and operated company with NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) trained and certified technicians. As for my experience with DUCTZ, my tenants reported a "rotten egg" smell coming from the ventilation system. I contacted DUCTZ because I wanted their professional and expert opinion. Daniel met with my tenants and inspected the property's vents and HVAC return / air handler. He suggested a quick, easy, and cheap solution which was to use a foam spray (the foam spray cost only $6.26 on Amazon) to seal an exposed pipe going underground, beneath the air handler, to see if that would stop the smell. The theory behind this was the HVAC system was sucking up bad odors from the pipe and into the ventilation system. There was no charge for Daniel's visit. His visit was for a free estimate. I appreciated his advice and again, not trying to sell me something I didn't need. My tenants also told me that Daniel said that HVAC systems can occasionally get what is known as "dirty sock syndrome" and that it can be difficult and expensive to diagnose. I'm pretty sure I've smelled that in my own old car's ventilation system at one point and it went away on its own (or perhaps when I had the heater core replaced, but I digress). In the end, my experience with DUCTZ of Greater Atlanta was A+ and I recommend these guys if you need a quick, honest opinion about your ductwork/ventilation. This seems like a dependable business.

In August 2024, we hired Penco for a reconstruction project, and while we had high hopes, several…read morechallenges surfaced along the way. Unfortunately, communication issues and a lack of professionalism became apparent early on. As homeowners, we often found ourselves stepping in to guide subcontractors, as the project manager wasn't always present to oversee things. Despite our attempts to work with them on additional tasks and payments, there were many unresolved issues, and we felt the project wasn't getting the attention it needed. After several missed deadlines and incomplete work, we made the difficult decision to cancel the contract. To be fair, I believe the project manager was simply juggling too many responsibilities, and my heart goes out to him. However, in the end, we were left to clean up both literally and figuratively. Even after we settled the contract, some work remained incomplete. Here are a few things future clients should consider: The contract terms are heavily skewed in Penco's favor. While this protects them, it doesn't offer much recourse for the homeowner if the work isn't up to par or incomplete. While communication is friendly at the beginning, it doesn't always translate into consistent or clear updates throughout the project. Some charges were unexpected, like being billed almost $300 for a single can of spray foam that was included in the original scope of work. Here are a few specific details of our experience: I had to spend 30 minutes orienting two drywall workers myself, a task that should have been handled by the project manager. Trash from the drywall work was left unbagged near our trash can, creating a mess that wasn't contained. On another occasion, I had to step in again to explain the job to a different drywall worker. The project manager promised to visit the site but didn't show up as scheduled. The drywall team missed several areas that needed attention, and we had to catch them as they were leaving to fix these issues. If we hadn't been home, those spots would have been overlooked. I twice had to interrupt my workday to orient painters, even though the project manager said he would handle it. While he promised to look into compensation for my time, no follow-up was ever made. Although the drywall team cleaned up, they left trash bags for us to deal with, despite this being included in the contract. On one occasion, workers were supposed to arrive for trim work, but they never showed up, disrupting our plans for the day. Some parts of the drywall work, such as the final sanding to prepare for painting, were incomplete, even though we were charged for it. After the contract ended, we found issues with how the drywall had been installed, including cutting off the beveled edge that should have allowed molding to sit flush, resulting in gaps. While we were eager to wrap things up, some areas remained unfinished--unsanded, unpainted, and with a few patches still left. In the end, while we understand that things can go wrong in any project, we felt disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and follow-through. We hope this feedback helps Penco improve their processes for future clients.
