I have friends that catch fish here regularly, so I know it has some decent fishing too. We came to spin the kids around on a hot day. They had so much fun and getting in when the heat got out of hand was refreshing. I did t explore too much, but it didn't look like the campground had too much shade, on a hot day you may get not want to be there. Down by the docks they had a nice beach for swimmers and they had restrooms, which were just put toilets, not a fan. Other than that, I will definitely be back here.

If coming from the Bend area, It quite literally is located over a cliff. There is a very, very narrow, and steep decent on a 2 Lane road that takes you down into the middle of a ravine. You drive along the perimeter of the ravine across a bridge and up and over the other side of the ravine until you follow the road to the campsite. Our GPS did not direct us properly to the campsite and the road was so narrow with no signs pointing us in the right direction. There was a moment of dread thinking we were going the wrong way when our GPS said we had arrived but we were in the middle of the road with no turn off. It was an act of faith to keep on going until the road finally delivered us at the campsite on the other side of the ravine. The campsite was well-maintained and had a lot of staff in the form of Park rangers to assist with check-in, selling firewood and ice, and maintenance. Each site had a paved driveway to park on. They have fire rings and picnic tables, with a decent amount of space between sites.

They have an ice cream social but unlike other Koa's the fee was $2.50 one scoop and $5.00 two scoops..... I got two scoops well that was foolish on my part. They gave me a pint of ice cream. Excellent value for the price of you ask me. All you can eat breakfast was offered however I didn't get it but it smelled really good. Just get the tokens for the extras in the general store. The food truck doesn't take payment. Well worth the sunset. Enjoy!

And, it had plenty of space for a car (or two) to pull into. And, then we had a separate area to set up a tent in. It was perfect for camping with our 2 dogs; we got a nice private area by the lake and the Dogs. I was able to reserve a spot online through recreation.gov and it was easy! And, Steve the camp host, was a delight! He was very approachable and friendly, it was nice interacting with him and talking to him. Overall, the spot was quiet and had beautiful scenery! And, less bugs/mosquitos then I've seen in other similar camp spots in the same geographic area for that time of year. And, also it was just a 20 minute drive to Smith Rock from this camp Site, so it was very do-able!

Here is my review of clear lake for row boat use!…read more We got here at 930 am. Found the pay box at the entrance $9, no cash. There is an option to pay at the bottom which we should have done because they take the national park passes there (see picture). We were able to find parking in the main lot and there were a few people there. We weren't sure how the process of renting the boats or availability of life jackets. There is a shop that sells food, snacks, drinks, ice cream , and desserts. They also have a selection of fishing items, shirts, jackets. We paid for the boat - $60 for the large boat all day. The life jackets were plentiful and available. My husband rowed most of the time because I am not a good rower. We made it from the dock to the start of the river that you can't go past which is good since you could hear the rapids. The way to the left was a lot calmer and clear. We had a blast out on the lake. You could see down near the shallows but not in the middle of the lake. Make sure to bring sunscreen because there isn't much shade. The facilities are great!! Two bathrooms in the shop. Large tables to sit and enjoy a hot cooked meal or ice cream. I am so glad we were able to make a morning on the lake super easy and stress free! Next time I'm thinking of renting a kayak or a stand up paddle board. That would be fun! If you are in the area make sure to stop by early. As we were leaving, the parking lot was filled up so make sure to get there early! I hope my review and pictures help you plan for a successful visit to Clear Lake!

Comfortable waders and nice rigs! Matt spent time with each one of us, giving tips, changing lures, adjusting our indicators, and showing us where to fish the river. By the end, Matt's knowledge of the river landed each one of us at least one fish with 2 member of our group landing three fish each! It was a wonderful early spring fishing trip, a very premium experience, and a great lunch to boot! Will definitely be back to book again!

Big Lake Campground is a lovely mountain campground near Santiam Pass. It's 34 miles northeast of…read moreBlue River, which is mistakenly shown on the Yelp map as the location. That's the ranger station at Blue River, not the campground, which is located off U.S. Highway 20 west of Sms isters. There's 49 campsites with varying lengths. We stayed in campsite 22. We had just enough room for our 25-foot travel trailer and GMC Yukon travel trailer. The rest of our site was huge, with wooden steps leading to a picnic table and a fire ring. Out the back window of our trailer we could see Big Lake and towering Mount Washington, one of the gems of Central Oregon. A short trail leads past prolific stands of bear grass and flowers, including mountain lupine, Queen's Cup, mountain meadowsweet and scarlet trumpet. There are numerous vault toilets and faucets offering drinking water. There are also boat ramps. We really enjoyed our time at this campground and highly recommend it.

Washington sits right over Big Lake and boasts gorgeous mountain views with tall green trees surrounding the lake. We actually had a small lake access from our campground and the campground was nice and private from other sites. We reserved online for $24 a night (I highly recommend reserving online to be safe because the campground does fill up) and after splitting the cost with everyone it was dirt cheap! It's very reasonably priced per night. When we came in no one was at the check-in station but we found our name on a post outside the campground. Bathrooms were your standard vault toilets and there was running water but I don't think it was potable. I came mid-summer and the mosquitos were only a little noticeable and not out of control. We didn't have any issues with animals like raccoons or anything and since it was car camping our cars were easily accessible. I wish we could have brought out a kayak but it was still a nice place to swim and enjoy a beautiful summer weekend on the lake. There was a camp across the lake and a few trails we explores. I really liked the terrain and how it changed as you walked further into the mountains. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful waters perfect for the kayak, fun hiking, a beautiful camp site, lots of adorable ducklings...and although a wildfire popped up within eyeshot, we got to witness planes working through the evening dipping into Timothy and ultimately taking the fire down. Yay! Although I've never seen so many employees at any campground, the grounds were kept pristine and every staff member encountered was friendly. No complaints, just fabulous fun at Timothy!

It's absolutely gorgeous, amazing, heavenly, stunning, oh my I can go on LOL! We have hiked here every year for the past 5 years. It's a strenuous hike but such a great workout and your reward for making it to the top is truly worth it--absolutely breathtaking. I love it! Make sure you bring water because you will need it. I also recommend arriving early because after 9am, parking can be very challenging. We normally start our hike around 7am. There is a parking fee of $12.50 for non-state residents but if you live in Oregon, then you only pay 10 buckaroos. I highly recommend anyone to visit this amazing place!
