I signed up an intro class and showed up where the front lady did take a while to check me in and wasn't much help with picking out my shoes or setting me up on my bike. Luckily the instructor saw me struggling to adjust my bike and helped me out. The storage/ locker area was clean and had very ample space to store all my belongings. There was 2 bathrooms and 2 showers available which I used both and say they were pretty good and included towels and deodorant and soap and shampoo/ conditioner. The class was about 45 minutes long and included an optional stretch at the end. This class did not have a theme but was energetic and gave me a great sweat! I would love to try one of their theme classes one day so I can push myself even more. They have a wide range of classes available too and are always running promotions for class packs. Hopefully I can go back soon!

Also the staff and trainers are friendly and accommodating. The treadmills are very sleek and easier to use when you do your running blocks. There is more space on the floor to do the weights and other core exercises. They also have two shower rooms in addition to the bathrooms if you have to go directly to work or an engagement. Having both lockers and cubby holes for placing your valuables also helps. The layout also works very well where there are two entrances at opposite ends of the workout room depending on if you are starting on the floor with weight and core strength exercises or the tread and rower. You don't feel like you are stuck in a queue to get your position. I applaud the OTF finally opening in Westlake and alternate between that and Royal Palm for my workouts.

Annette was very professional when I made the appointment for 2 days later as that was when the repair technician would be in our area. Mike Flynn came over and said that it needs a new keypad and he believes that Octane fitness (the maker of our elliptical) only sells the console containing the keypad as a single unit. I also gave Mike a copy of our original invoice since he said that it still may be covered under warranty. Annette called me a few days later with some good news; the console was covered under warranty for parts. They would order the part and when they knew it would be delivered call to set up an appointment. I asked Annette if she knew how much the console would be if it was not under warranty. I mentioned that this could wait until we set up the appointment. 15 minutes later she called back saying that it would be $930 for a new console. She also gave me the lowdown on warranties saying what the warranty was if purchased (I believe it was 1 year) vs replacing it under the warranty (the remainder of the original warranty) I found her to be very helpful in general as well as setting up the appointment to install the new part. Mike Flynn came over this morning to install the new part. Both times, I found him to be knowledgable, personable and professional. He obviously knows what he is doing. While their service is not cheap ($185 + tax for each visit) it was money well spent. Hopefully I won't need another repair to our elliptical but if I do or if someone needs a recommendation, I will recommend Top Notch Fitness.

After attending my free trial class, I immediately signed up for the 5 week bootcamp everyone starts out with. That day they went over zone block diet/nutrition and how you should be eating to hit your fitness goals. Most gyms require you to book your classes in advance and if you can't make it or you need to cancel, they require 24 hours notice or you might be charged or lose credit for the class which is a HUGE inconvenience. HEW WPB has SO many class options and which ever class you want to attend, you just show up and scan your card. The restrooms do have shower's, so you can always stop in before work and then get ready after class. The classes usually always have 2 or 3 coaches, someone is always around to demonstrate and help you. All of the coaches are great, they all have a lot of fun and keep us motivated and entertained throughout the class. Instead, I was met with racism, homophobia, and persistent bullying - both from some of the coaches and members. Rather than being a place of support, growth, and inclusion, this gym became a toxic environment that made me dread working out. I tried to give it a fair shot, but the lack of professionalism, respect, and basic human decency I encountered made this one of the worst decisions I've made in my fitness journey. I'm finishing out my month because I paid for it, but I will absolutely not be returning. If you're someone who values a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space to work out - especially if you're a black gay male. -- I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
