I stumbled upon this charming little wine shop quite by accident! I was actually on the hunt for a place to eat, and I noticed that the French restaurant had a sign that said "more shops here." I thought, "That's perfect!" So, I walked over and found this adorable winery that blends their own wines. Trish, one of the owners, was so easy to work with. The products she carries in her store are absolutely adorable. They don't make their own food, but they do collaborate with the Blue Moon Café, and food is delivered directly to their winery, so you can have dinner and enjoy their wine at the same time. I thought that was pretty convenient. If you need to do any birthday or Christmas shopping, or any type of shopping, check her out. Popped in before making the journey home, and happy I did! With a tasting fee of $25 (as of 11/19/2024), I had the opportunity to try a handful of wines. I had intended to take note of each, but began talking travel with Heather and the wine notes went out the window. :-) I did enjoy each of the wines I tasted, however, but did not go home with a bottle. This was a cute little tasting room I wouldn't mind popping into again when passing through Avila Beach. I loved the biking motif--stop by if you also love bicycles. They have glasses for sale and other items. There isn't a lot of seating, but it is set up well. We were able to hang out at a table in a sunny courtyard just off the bustling main drag. The wine pours were so small that it was hard for me to taste or keep track of what I liked. What a gem! A pleasant little tasting room hidden down a little pathway. I had seen it before, but we hadn't stopped to taste. We've been somewhat disappointed with other places, but this one impressed!!! Trish( one of the owners) was a delightful host. I typically pass on the whites, and go for the reds. I decided to do the full flight. I enjoyed each pour! The rosé was very light and soft, and the Chardonnay had its own pleasant character. The reds didn't let me down either. They know their stuff. We spotted this place while we were in Avila Beach and I thought at first it was a bike gift store since it had so many cute cycling motifs. I was pleasantly surprised to find it's a winery and had to taste. I tried just the red and really enjoyed them all. I took home a bottle of the Ascension and the Pinot Noir, as well as a cute t-shirt, some glasses, and an exotic salt. They have tons of cute gifts as well as delicious wines. Tucked away off the Avila Beach Boardwalk you'll find the cutest tasting room. Inspired by biking (and no relation to the peloton people now have in their homes), it's a very relaxing atmosphere and everyone I have met there before is super friendly (staff and guests alike). A tasting flight is $20 for 5 wines - they have three options: white, red or mix. If you buy 2 bottles, you're tasting is included with your purchase. I loved the rosé and the Boneshaker Albariño - both were very refreshing and crisp. The Pinot was also delicious! I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. We planned on picking up a bottle or 2 of wine from town... this was our 2nd time visiting the area and we had purchased wine from Peloton the last time we were here. Avid bicyclists, we love the great T shirts and bike themed stuff... but the tasting was really DISAPPOINTING! The young woman wasn't terribly friendly and gave extremely stingy pours. My husband who buys a couple bottles at all the decent tasting rooms, didn't bother. As we tasted our tiny pours, the woman behind the counter enjoyed a glass of red wine for herself, we paid $22 each for nothing! We then went to Costco & bought 4 wines from Paso Robles. 1. Pour a reasonable taste 2. Banter with the customer 3. Customer happily buys your wine OR CUSTOMER LEAVES UNHAPPY AND BUYS WUNE SOMEPLACE ELSE!!! Wake up Peloton! Great location with excellent wines! We can in for a tasting because we enjoy looking at the bike sitting out front. The gentleman doing the tastings was so enjoyable to speak with and very knowledgable on the wines. We ended up with full glasses of albarino (sp?). This was was so tasty, refreshing and with a beautiful finish. We enjoyed chatting and made our way outside to enjoy the view of the ocean. Cute little gift shop inside as well to check out. " Nice Wine Tasting Experience " We went to the Peloton Cellars Winery for some wine tasting in Avila beach. The small tasting room is right on the edge of Avila Beach. Trish Kesselring, the Tasting Room Manager was so nice and pleasant to talk with, as she explained all the individual wines we were tasting and the history of the winery. We tried five wines, a pinot grigio, chardonnay, 2 pinot noir's, and a zinfandel. The tasting room is decorated nicely, and there is some outside seating available. It would have been nice if they would offer some cheese , salami, or some other snacks in the tasting room that you could have with the wine. Nice place to visit ! read more

Great ambiance and friendly staff. Our pups were welcomed on the patio (and inside if we so wished but there were a lot of people inside and decided against it). Tasting fee of around $15, or waived with purchase of 2 bottles. As we got there via walk down bob jones, I decided against purchasing anything to go. The price points were all a little high unless you truly loved the wine, which unfortunately I didn't love anything that day. The petite sirah was my fav, but didn't justify the price tag. read more

I have to say this is the first time I've been to a specific winery that only sells its own product. I've been to other places, but those were all different and varied brands. And I really enjoyed this experience. I still consider myself very new to wine, so the intimidation factor is still high for me when it comes to visiting such places. However, the staff was friendly and helpful. This visit It was made even more memorable because I watched the staff secure their upcoming new win in plastic seals. Just what California needs, another winery. That said, we can always use an excellent one, and Peloton qualifies as just that - excellent. Their tasting room has only just opened, but they've been around for a while. Tasty zins, an outstanding Diamond Jem cab, and a nice chewy syrah all kick serious arse. But man, their Criterium... While a bit spendy, is absolutely amazing, and stacks up against other notable blends like Seghesio's Omaggio or Justification from Justin. Well worth a stop down in Slo Town. read more

Worst experience ever. Recommend to NO ONE especially if you aren't from the region. I am from the fingerlakes, niagara & Erie wine trail region. Trust me when I say there are so many options, leave this one out. To begin we were recommended to go there by one of the hotel staff. He is the brother in law of a server. We met him and made friends with him at the hotel we were staying at. We walked a good amount to get there, and got lost a couple times, it was an adventure for us to say the least. When we got there, we were so excited and shared our story as well as handed over our map with a note from the brother in law. Immediately this guy poured us a sample. I am going to be honest, the wine was not that good. We continued to taste one of each wine. Asked about the difference in west coast and east coast wines which the girlfriend of the server knew. Her name was Ashley and she was very nice and very smart. After trying all of the drinks he said if you buy a bottle of wine we can waive two of the samples. We were both confused as we didn't even realize we were paying to sample and then I purchased a bottle out of respect. I was upset but accepted I as my own fault for not looking first and assuming it was like east coast wine tastings. We were having a great time and the server even wrote a note back to his brother in law. After getting the note back he asked if he could get us any other bottles and I said no thanks, but I will order a glass of the Pinot noir.... He made a face and said unfortunately we think you have had enough, we are going to have to say no and you are going to have to go at this time..... I didn't argue and I hid my face and left. NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN SO PUBLICLY HUMILIATED!!!!!!!!! I cried when I got out because I literally felt rejected, confused, and like I did something wrong for being nice to everyone. I was so hurt and offended. Worst part is when He saw my face of shock he said he didn't mean to offend me.... Really..... What did you think was going to happen.... My friend said its just the west coast wine behavior. I think that is ridiculous if it is true. We were in no way drunk, but purely having a good time. DONT GO HERE!!! Such a charming tasting room. The location lured me in, but the kindness of owner and the giant classic bike hanging from the ceiling made me stay for a tasting. The owner shared all of her knowledge of their grape growing techniques which I had never heard before and was very entertained. My favorite wine here is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, which took quite a bit of tasting to decide. After our tasting was over. I couldn't decide which bottle to buy, so the owner opened several vintages of the Cab for my group to try so that we could compare them side by side. I'm a novice wine taster, and this was my first experience trying multiple vintages of the same wine at the same time, and I was so surprised by how each vintage has distinct flavors. I was so pleased by my experience at Peloton Cellars. I love their wine making philosophy and their love of cycling. Keep up the good work. I'll be back to see you next year! read more

The wine is ok for what we tried but nothing that memorable. The hostess wasn't very talkative so the place doesn't have a very welcoming vibe to it. Hi Trish, You helped me out a few months ago in purchasing two bottles of the Peleton 2015 Pinot Noir, Santa Ynez Valley. I was the one that mentioned that my brother-in-law has been making Pinot Noir for around 20 years from the Santa Cruz Mountain area w his wife. I visit wineries, in the Napa, Temecula, and Solvang areas...even Alapay around the corner. I am not a wine expert, it is fun, yet I really enjoyed my visit at Peloton Cellars, and enjoyed talking, listening, and learning about wines from you and your great employee. My favorite wine at your establishment IS the 2015 Pinot Noir. We tried it and my brother-in-law's 2014 Pinot Noir at the same time, and all four of us tasted the superior quality of your Pinot Noir. All of us liked the taste better. Keep in mind we have purchased Pinot Noir from wineries at Napa, and we think this Pinot Noir rivals any of them! Next time I come I will have my wife and daughter with me. I had enough from the 2 wine sessions of the day. I went back to the San Luis Inn and watched Charlie Brown's Christmas.
