Let me just tell the whole story so people understand how ridiculous this place is. I called to make a reservation for 3 people, and I asked for 8:30, because someone in our group had practice and that was the earliest she could get there. They tell me the latest they can do is 8:00... even though they don't close until 9. Make that make sense. So I explain the situation . she literally gets out at 8, we need a little time to get there. The girl on the phone acts like I'm asking for something impossible. She finally says, "Well... I guess we can do 8:15," but with the worst attitude. And when I paused for two seconds to check that time with everyone, she hits me with a long, rude "hellooooo?" Like girl, calm down!!! I'm trying to make YOUR schedule work. We show up for our 8:15 reservation, and the vibe immediately was that we weren't even wanted there. They looked at us like we showed up uninvited, even though we literally made a reservation. Then they tell us they only have two soups and ONE salad left... for three people. Everyone is supposed to get a soup and a salad, so how exactly were we supposed to "split that"? On top of that, they had no sushi rice and half the menu unavailable -- and not one apology. Just more attitude, like everything was somehow our fault. Then it took them 20 minutes to not even bring our drinks. They never showed up. We're just sitting there watching them walk around acting busy while ignoring us. At that point, we just got up and left because clearly they didn't care if we stayed or not. And the craziest part? They charge an 18% mandatory tip for this kind of rude service. Like... hello?? What exactly are we tipping for? The attitude? The missing food? The ignoring us? It's wild. This place is rude, unprofessional, unprepared, and honestly gives off "we don't want you here" energy. If you wanna pay to be treated like an inconvenience, go ahead. I think Peking is a great spot to eat in the Pikeville area. The service is always really quick and friendly, and they have lots of options. You can choose from a buffet, which is loaded with options, or you can dine hibachi, which is really good. We enjoy coming here with our family, because it's a nice spot to sit and talk while you dine. This is a pretty decent buffet. A little more upper class. No chicken on a stick but otherwise it was good. I guess the hibachi is reservation only. But to be honest it was a really nice place. Great buffet with lots and lots of choices. There's sushi. There's a hibachi...you pick your bowl and it's freshly cooked. And a big buffet! A salad bar. Four kinds of soup. The Egg drop was very well made. And lots of chicken, seafood and meat dishes. The General Tso and the Mandarin was excellent! There's also some desserts and a soft serve ice cream machine. The service was friendly and the used plates were removed quickly so you could go fill up more. I'd give 5 stars...the only real reason for the 4 stars is that the food isn't hot enough. I know it's a buffet and that's hard to do. The food is definitely kept hot enough to not be dangerous...but some things were barely warm. But I'd definitely go back!!! Very good selection! They wait can be long even with a reservation, so prepared to wait. Not a lot of room to wait in the waiting room. This is an Awesome place to eat, a good show, good service and great tasting food. Four of us in our party for 114.00 tip included wasn't a bad price for the food we got. I had steak, chicken and shrimp with rice, noodles and mixed vegetables, water with lemon to drink. Heaping portions, each dish was well prepared, the Chef did a great job preparing the food. We don't get to come here often but we enjoy it when we do. Atmosphere good, a little loud with TVs, other patrons and the food being prepared but that part of the ombiounce. Tonight live music it was very entertaining. The cook did a great job as always. Upon getting there I was a little confused as apparently there is two restaurants one is a Chinese buffet the other is hibachi. We went for the hibachi and was not disappointed. Our server was great the cooks name was Alex I recommend you try to ask for him. We had hibachi for two came with chicken steak lobster and scallops. Truly was the best value on the menu. The food was simply fantastic I have eaten at hibachi and half of our states I believe this little gem in Pikeville was the best I've had. We also got sushi the crab lagoon in the cowboy 10 out of 10. Haven't seen udon noodles served on hibachi but one time of them I wasn't a fan but everything else was amazing. My only negative was they seem to be a little stingy on the yum yum Sauce instead of passing the picture around for you to put it on your food he wanted to fill up the little cups and had to keep asking for more. Well I'm staying in Pikeville for the next three months I guarantee they will see me a few more times. read more

This is American takeout Chinese food, and it's above average. What more could you want? The General Tso has some mild spice to it, the Jasmine hot tea is great. The owner seemed to hover a lot looking after customers which is good, but the buffet still wasn't turned over frequently so the green beans were withered and the sauce had drained off the broccoli. Give it a mix and it tastes great for the price, which is all I want. My street cred: I know real Chinese. When I go out for real Chinese I eat pig stomach in soy, fermented tofu, and tripe in hot chilis. This buffet has none of that, it's 100% American. This buffet has chicken nuggets and enchiladas for the kids, or my mom. I think that's a shame, people should open their minds and try something new. So far as takeout Chinese goes, this is good. Solid 8/10. Sure it's greasy and sugary, but that's how these places are. Try the hot tea, skip the fortune cookie which was so stale I spit it out. read more

We had to listen to the staff argue the entire time we were there about how had what table or how this needed done or that needed done. The Sushi bar is totally worth the hour trip it takes my family and I to get there. Never tried anything else at the restaurant but I'm sure it's great. All the dishes we tried were of exceptional and in fact surprisingly high quality for a chinese buffet. we were just passing through, and decided on this buffet to get some veggies in. we weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. If I could rate this zero stars, I would. Waited 2 hours after being told it would be a 25min wait. Once seated, we were given water and the darkest miso soup I've ever seen. Then we waited 20 more minutes. No sign of a chef. One waiter that had to get another waiter to answer questions about sushi. After 2hrs we got up and left. They made us pay for the miso soup, while the hostess tried to explain it was the fault of the group with us for the delay. This place is a joke. Go get a protein and some rice at Walmart and save yourself the hassle of dealing with this hot mess of an establishment. Go to the Mexican restaurant next door. Well, took the son to Pekings for his birthday supper. Just he and I and for convenience, we sat at the sushi bar to partake of the succulent imaginings of their chef and to make it easier on the staff. We had the chicken broth soup and a small salad with a ginger dressing, both which were fair. We had 2 special platters with several pieces of Nigiri and a couple of rolls each and loved them as they were unique, tasty and very filling. The hibachi grills, which were at our back, were bouncing and the atmosphere was very good...until the bill arrived ($109.00). For some reason (and again there were only 2 of us) we were charged an $18.00 gratuity. I couldn't figure this out. I don't mind paying a reasonable gratuity...but to tack it on to my bill without me knowing? Not kosher. Warning for anyone...be careful when you dine here...ask about an oversized gratuity. read more

This restaurant is unique in the fact that it has a buffet and a hibachi as well. I have eaten at both. Buffet: pricy on the weekends but worth it. There is a huge selection of food. Some of it like the general tsos, pepper chicken, and Kung pow chicken were really good. Some like the teriaki chicken and BBQ ribs, not so much. My advice, get a little of everything. Good salad and dessert bar as well. Hibachi: not such a good experience... The food was typical of a hibachi, not great but not bad. They give you good portions and they offer sushi as well. Price is comparable. On the other hand our chef was "not on his game." He rushed through the preparation with few tricks and didnt involve us. They were rude when we walked in, they ignored us, they didn't speak to us until we finally spoke to them after 5 minutes and then it took them 10 minutes to get us our DRINKS!!! I went to the restaurant letting the waitress and cook know I was a vegetarian and you can't cook my food with meat and they did it anyway TWICE. Then the waitress cancelled my order when I asked it to be cooked again. So I had them call the manager to get my food cooked again and mind you and have been waiting for my food for 45 minutes . It still took tHem another twenty minutes to cook some rice and vegetables and here's the kicker my meal WASNT even discounted and we were charged 18% gratuity for a party of two.
