The main area is quite large and though a bit shabby looking is clean. There's a bench seat stretching along two walls so plenty space to sit and wait for your order which is usually available in 10 to 15 minutes. They do student deals at lunch time so it can get quite busy between 1 and 2 when the local secondary gets its lunch. The staff are always friendly and helpful. You can also phone in a take-away order if you prefer so no need to wait inside, just pick it up and pay after the time they give you.

The café is a little overcrowded so bumping into others when it's busy is common. Their menu hasn't really ever changed which is a shame as it could do with some new dishes but that being said you will always find something you would like to eat.

I would call it Modern Scottish: fresh Scottish produce (especially seafood -- this is a harbor city with a fishermen's cooperative) fused with 'foreign' flourishes. Yesterday I had scollops from North Uist, and tonight I had monkfish kebab with couscous. Two nights in a row? Yes. I am traveling solo, it is close to where I am staying, it's part of an important cultural center, and the food is good. So why not? PS The Yelp map wrongly pins this place at the intersection of Kenneth street and Church street, whereas it is at the intersection of Kenneth Street and South Beach road.
