Tudor style architecture amid the Overlook Hotel ambiance.

Four season resort with Overlook Hotel-style amenities. A raging fire and hotel will greet you with their cozy ambiance. The peak may not be so spectacular but it is what it is. It's not the Rockies after all.'

No lighting for the sidewalks

This hotel is very convenient if you want to walk off the slopes and right into your hotel room. The lobby looks quite beautiful when you first walk in especially at Christmas time. However, this hotel is extremely rundown and in need of repairs. When I'm paying over $500 for a room I expect not to have old dirty worn out furniture that's tethered, torn curtains, Jacuzzi tub that has dirty crap and rust coming out of the Jets. The hotel restaurant staff is very unwelcoming. The menu is not that exciting. The food over at the ski lodge is actually better and cheaper. They did have a full-service bar. I did not try any other drinks though.

Had an amazing time here this weekend! Rented a condo and stayed Friday and Saturday night. Wasn't as clean as it should have been, but nothing to overly complain about. I'd still stay here again for sure. We absolutely loved the pool (although hated the price of the drinks at the pool bar, and of course couldn't bring in your own). Pool had a nice slide and the water was amazing. We snagged the last table and were able to at least sit there and eat our lunch. Only major downside about this resort is the food. It's mediocre at best. We ate at the Gazebo Grill (this was the better of the 2 places we ate at). And we ate at the Bistro 210. I don't know that I'd eat at the bistro again. The manager was nice enough to give us a percentage off our meals, because we were all so disappointed. But still, it wasn't the greatest experience. Overall, I'd recommend this place. For families as well. There's tons to do--most of which we didn't have time for. But a reason to return I guess!

Ski slopes on your drive in. Cloudy day

Had a wonderful experience at peek'n peak Sunday to Monday January 29th or 30th. Offering a deal to stay at a reasonable price with skiing included, making it only 30 to $40 more to spend the night and not have to do a round trip drive from Cleveland. Of course they hope that they get you to use their facilities and give you two free pull passes. We also used the amazing dining room and we're just thrilled with our dinner Enjoyed a turkey cranberry club sandwich and a very unique roasted cauliflower salad. Well not an expensive at $17 for a salad, it was so unique and well proportioned that it was a value for the flavor. The next day we wanted to have the salad again before we went home but they didn't open until 4:00 p.m.. The pool had way too many kids in it on a Sunday night but Monday morning it was lovely. Nice indoor outdoor hot tub and the shower facilities were okay. Beautiful darkly wood rich resort with comfortable couches and amenities everywhere to enjoy. Very much enjoyed our stay and would like to do it again

I was excited to celebrate a weekend zip lining, hiking, and tackling the ropes course. I paid extra for my room. Upon arrival to our room, my best friend and I dragged our luggage up to the second floor, as there are no elevators, we began to get situated in our room, we noticed the distinct pungent smell of zoo. It was unbearable. We called the front desk, and they changed our room to the one across the hallway. We unpacked, did the recreational activities as planned. Night arrived. Loud thumping running up and down the hallway. Parents getting lit up in one room, as the kids ran around like lunatics. Next afternoon/ early evening. Noise everywhere. Kids knocked on our door and then ran away, they even took our do not disturb sign off our door. We called the front desk to complain. Their response: "oh okay, we will send security up to your room, and replace your tag." -they never came. The partying continued, patio door and main doors to the hallway remained open as parents congregated and carried on. Their loud voices and music permeated the porous walls and attacked our short lived return from our spa treatments. It is sad that upon arrival I had to sign an agreement to be quiet and courteous to others in the inn. It doesn't matter since nothing is enforced. The decor is extremely dated. At least they should replace the cigar laced curtains to freshen up the place. We attempted to visit the pool, but were turned off by the amount of kids running around everywhere. We will not stay here again. If you want to get away for some R & R, this is NOT the place for you.

Yoda outside 210 Bistro

Pet friendly, wonderful staff, really neat facility. It was clean and quiet. Kids loved mini golf and the pool. Our dog gave the resort two paws up. At check out they remembered us and even asked about Yoda (our dog). We will definitely be coming back

Lovely private, local ski club located in Ellicottville. Holimont is well taken care of and well…read moregroomed. The trails are always perfect and powdery. Since there is no night skiing available the snow isn't super packed down. The staff was attentive, helpful and friendly. Since this is a private club it definitely feels like it's own community and seems very family oriented. When I have gone there aren't wild and rowdy teens which is a plus. The good news is that on weekdays anyone can buy a pass to check out this awesome place. You can buy online to get a small discount. I have only gone during the week and there haven't been serious crowds or lines. I am not sure about the weekends but since it's members only I'm sure it's not nearly as busy as some of the other local public resorts. The lodges are cozy and accommodating. There is now a cafeteria here in the main lodge which has plenty to choose from. You are also free to bring your crockpots or picnic style lunches to enjoy. There are tons of indoor and outdoor seating options, many large grills for anyone to use and a cool fire pit to sit and relax. There are rentals, lessons and a specialty adaptive ski program available. During covid masks were worn inside and outside and this was enforced by staff. Hand sanitizing stations were set up all over. There was also a large, outdoor, well ventilated tent this year to provide extra seating during covid. Another fun perk that makes this place unique is there are many gorgeous homes on the hills and around the trails. It's fun to see them when you are on the lift and skiing down the hills.

Holiday Valley is the best "local" ski resort (in my case local means a 3 hour drive each way). I…read moream willing to make the drive since Holiday Valley provides a great ski day. The resort has 750 feet of vertical, but it skies much bigger than that, the large variety of slopes and challenges provides a rich experience. Parking at Holiday Valley is free, but on a busy day you may have a bit of a walk, especially if you are heading to the Main Lodge, but you can park at one of the other 2 base lodges, they are smaller but still very nice. My biggest complaint at the Main Lodge is that you will encounter a couple of sets of stairs to get to the slopes. Inside the lodge there are plenty of seating, bathrooms, rentals, ski shops and the usual ski lodge food. The Tannenbaum Lodge does provide a couple of rooms where you can leave your bags and bring your own food, which is very convenient. From the Main Lodge you have 2 primary lift choices, Cindy's Quad and the Mardi Gras Express; both keep the lines moving at a good pace and allow you access to the rest of the resort. The lift system overall works well to keep you moving and the lines at a reasonable level. This year Holiday Valley has gone to a RFID lift ticket which was a bit challenging to find the right location for the card to consistently activate the gates, once I figured it out it was pretty smooth. Holiday Valley offers plenty of challenge and with its location in the lake effect snow belt it usually gets great snow coverage. On my recent day trip I found the skiing better than my earlier trip to Lake open runs like Mardi Gras to rollicking narrower trails through the woods. The Black trails are always welcome with Champagne, Yodeler and Edelweiss usually worth multiple runs. Typically, 1 or 2 of these will have one side groomed and the other side moguls. There are plenty of glade tree skiing runs and a couple of terrain parks off of the Morningstar Express Lift. They even have a Double Black Diamond run, although it was not open this trip. For my most recent visit I took advantage of the Cabin Fever Days promotion to get a $25 lift ticket at selected ski shops; plenty of other people also took advantage of the promotion so it was busy for a Tuesday. Conditions were great, almost the whole resort was open. After a nice morning of skiing the Blue and Black runs, I did feel so good that I skied some of the moguls and took a few runs through the Happy Glades which is the first time I have been tree skiing in several years. I also did take a short midday stop at the Tannenbaum Lodge for a quick warm up. Holiday Valley consistently receives high marks as one of the best resorts in the East, it also gets more skier visits than any other resort in New York. I have been skiing Holiday Valley for more than three decades and I always have a great time. The drive there and back can be challenging at times, but that just means the resort is getting plenty of snow. If you are looking for a great day of skiing Holiday Valley should be on your list. In addition, the town of Ellicottville is a charming ski town and Salamanca offers a full-service Casino and resort.

WOW this ski resort blew me away, as it has everything you will need to enjoy your skiing…read moreexperience. They have tons of ski equipment/snowboarding, a large cafeteria on the second floor, daycare service, and a cool little bar. I'm still taking back at how nice all the skiers were. Basically everyone welcoming you to sit at their table while eating, and helping when they see you're in distress. I'd like to call that unity. You could see large groups of friends, couples, families with small children and solo skiers all having the time of their life. I was impressed that you could safely leave your skis outside on the rack and no one bothered them. That doesn't happen in Columbus, Ohio. lol This lodge is something you would see out of a magazine as it is magnificent in every way. My favorite was the large, second floor outside patio area with comfy chairs to sit and rest in between racing down the slopes. Just a place to kick back and catch your breath, and it's right off of the bar area, how convenient is that? On the first level, there is a huge locker room area with digital lockers, where you'll see everyone either bundling up or stripping down. In the cafeteria on the second floor, like I mentioned before has a huge array of delicious items to refuel your system. As you walk in the dining area, you will see a huge room with wraparound windows and I could not even tell you how many tables and chairs, and an enormous fireplace....which was a bit too warm for my liking, but I just took off a few layers and I was fine. On the first floor adjacent to the bottom of the slope, you will find a very toasty warm Starbucks offering not only their signature coffees and snacks, but also a wall of alcohol, alcoholic beverages, along with whiskey. Guess you gotta stay warm somehow. They also have a large glass ice water tower for those that want to pop in and get a quick hydrate before heading back out. And the slopes... unbelievable!!!! You literally have so much to choose from. And they are all meticulously cared for. Lastly, they have ski lessons on hand for the beginners. Overall, I was impressed and look forward to my next visit . Thank you holiday Valley!!!!
